KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI (TICKER) -- The Kansas City Chiefs (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/kan/;_ylt=AvWsiRBC2jZa5Z_VhYyLBJgLubYF) on Thursday signed safety Jerome Woods (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/3607/;_ylt=AqDKokNT4z5rV_H7ukTlHqULubYF) to a one-year contract, allowing the veteran to retire as a member of the team.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, and Woods will move to the Chiefs' reserve-retired list on Friday.
Woods spent parts of 10 seasons with the Chiefs from 1996-2005, recording 720 tackles, 15 interceptions, 11 forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. The 6-3 strong safety is seventh on Kansas City's all-time list for career tackles.
