Dont know if anyone cares about nascar, but i do. According to Espnews Jr is going to Hendrick maybe as early as later this year. Im kind of pissed because he is going to be the teammate of his dads biggesnt opponent, but he also has a great chance to win. Hendrick is absolutely loaded with JR, gordon, and Johnson. Comments??

Not a fan...at all... but, this is kind of a big deal in nascar, right? This makes Hendrick the Yankees or the Real Madrid of Nascar, pretty much...correct?

Correct, and this is a huge deal in nascar. I wasnt sure if this deserved its own thread, but i didnt see a nascar thread!!! Yes, they are definitely the Yankees of nascar.

My mom and dad watch Nascar. Quite a few people in my family do. None of them consider it a real sport. That makes it quite fine with me. Different subject alltogether, though.

this is a huge deal in NASCAR right now...everyone who is a fan of Dale Jr. hates Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson with a passion (think BoSox v. Yankee's) but now that they are going to be on the same team, people will learn to love Jeff, Jimmie, and Dale....(think Jonny Damon defecting to the Yankees...)

huge stuff in NASCAR!

Hey, I have an idea. Let's make a thread about NASCAR and not have someone say "derp drive around in cirkles lolllllll boring" or "i hate nascar its so dumb lolz"

To the topic on hand, I think Jr. is making a mistake based on the fact that I hate Gordon and Johnson. I do hope Kyle Busch comes over to RCR though.

To me what was not too shocking about this deal is that Budweiser sponsored both Ricky Craven and Wally Dallenbach (and before, I believe with Tim Richmond) so there was at least some experience together.

I'm so happy right now, my dad has met Rick Hendrick twice (once in the late 80s and another a few years back) so I am a fan of that operation. Most people aren't big fans of him (the mail fraud, etc.) but he's a great owner with top-of-the-line equipment.

I say, you ask some random person who watches ESPN for most of the week; they can identify Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Tony Stewart and maybe Jimmie Johnson, Mark Martin and Michael Waltrip (from all 1,000 of his commercials).

This is earth-shattering, Dale Jr. isn't the greatest driver (he has talent though, unlike that media hound Danica Patrick) but he's the most marketable.

I'm kind of shocked that Kyle Busch is out of the fray though. He's a top driver in NA$CAR and though Mears got that contract for a few more seasons, I thought HMS would ignore him altogether.

Man, wish he went to Gibbs. I don't even watch NASCAR, but if he went to Gibbs, that would give me somebody to root for on Sportscenter highlights. (thats where I watch my NASCAR :D)

Plus, Dale Jr. is notably a huge skins fan. Gibbs always hooks him up with passes to the OTA's almost every year.

I know a few Nascar fans, and they try to act like Nascar is better than Football, which doesn't go over too well with me.

does he get to keep budweiser or was that another team that doesnt allow beer sponsors?

If you take my passion for nascar and times it by 1000 it wouldnt equal my passion for football.. Nascar has nothing on football to me.

I'm pretty sure he keeps budweiser.

Joe Gibbs Racing doesn't allow beer sponsors, I believe. I think he keeps Budweiser and Kellogg's goes to DEI with Kyle Busch (the big rumor right now).

Bud will stay with Junior, I believe it's a stipulation in his contract (that the Bud sponsor goes with him...)

I have not heard any rumor about Kyle Bush going to DEI? I've heard that he might go to RCR but not DEI...and Kyle Bush has reportedly been unhappy with HMS and was scheduled to become a free agent after next season...

I read off JAYSKI that there is a potential swap between Busch/Gustafon and June Bug/Eury Jr. as well as sponsorship could go down. It would be rather shocking and this could have a Monopoly on NA$CAR.

Adding Jr. to Hendrick is making a dominant race team even better. I am shocked that I'm hearing negativity from fans about him joining a team with Gordon when Jr. and Jeff have been friends for years and Jeff and Dale Sr. were good friends off the track. While I'm a bit surprised to see Kyle Busch being the subtraction as opposed to Casey Mears, its understandable since he's only under contract thru 2008 and extension talks have stalled and he's a handful off the track. This is a huge step for Jr. and vital for him to be a champion down the road.

It will be weird watching an Earnhardt help Gordon to a victory or vice versa. Honestly I'm disappointed, I really wanted to see a BLACK Budweiser #3 for RCR. At least he'll win some more races now.

Kyle Busch really got messed up. All he's done is be consistant and just be an awesome race car driver and he gets the boot as opposed to Casey Mears. That's some real b.s. right there.

They just signed Casey Mears to a 3-year deal this offseason, dropping him would be not worth it.
