how do you view him as a prospect? Better or equal to Lawrence Timmons? not in the same class?

I think we will have to wait and see how this season pans out really.. what kind of an athlete is he? But timmons basically came out of nowhere partially because he was stuck behind some great linebackers... but i dont know we'll wait and seee what he does and i think that dictates where he would go in the draft

Don't think he's in the Timmons/Sims class but I still think he's a legit first round prospect.

Timmons has no roof on potential and has all the tools, he didnt get all that much playing time at FSU so his rookie season should be quite telling.

I think Geno Hayes' even better than Lawrence Timmons.

he needs to add more weight he only 215 and thats too small for a LB.

First of all I dont buy into the unlimited potential with Timmons. I think hes a solid all around player but i dont see the Alonzo Jackson freak measurables

I think Geno Hayes has better potential than Timmons. I could see Hayes being a startin WILL LB in NFL for a long time. He's fast, explosive, hard hitting and comes from a very good LB school

I think if Pitsburgh switches to a 4-3 cover 2 defense which a lot of people think they will it that it will take away Lawrences best attribute which is rushin the passer even tho he doesnt have long arms and a tall frame

Timmons best attribute isn't rushing the passer. Most people are confusing him as a pass-rusher, which he isn't. He finished with 5 sacks his Junior year, and had just 8 in his career. Lawrence Timmons is just a disruptor that gets in the backfield. He's more of a run-stuffer than a pass-rusher.

I think Hayes is going to end up better Timmons, but not quite at Sims level. Hayes is one of the few Linebackers i've seen dominate Florida high school football, along with Willie Williams, Nigel Bradham, and few others. He's going to be a beast. Honestly, one of the few players i'm scared of on FSU's team, along with Rolle and Lee.

there have been plenty of rumors that Geno will play ILB this year for FSU (where he played spring ball)......

Why not just keep Nicholson in the middle. He's 10-15 pounds heavier then Hayes. Nicholson in the middle with Geno on the weakside and Ball on the strongside would be on of the Top 5 LB corps in the country.

well Nicholson has been injured and you cant start if your not healthy and dont have reps. The FSU LB core is loaded, so him not getting reps has resulted in others taking his place. A Guy like Anthony Kelly could end up as the starting MLB this season...the position is honestly up for grabs (with Nicholson having some ways to go)

Hayes was apparantly dominant and felt natural at ILB in spring. Andrews has never had problems playing underzied players on his defense. Geno is about 218 right now, with chance to get to about 225 once the season starts. I like him better on the Weakside being a Derrick Brooks type, but there are rumors that he will play in the middle so Marcus Ball and Dekoda Watson (quickyl becoming on of the defenses most feared player) can start

I think they're a different kind of player. Timmons is more physical and Hayes is more finesse. I like Hayes more as a playmaker, but he'll need to bulk up a lot. Given his size, there's no way he plays middle in the pros unless its on the weak side in a 3-4.

Needs to bulk up but he's very fast and has great instincts. He seems like he's all over the place at times.

I do. Geno Hayes is a monster, no matter where he plays this year, I think he will make himself a first round pick.

Marcus Ball is the best LB FSU has had in a long time, better than Hayes, Timmons, Sims IMO.

As long as he recovers from his ACL fine, he will be a beast.

I actually agree with this about 75% since Im not sure if i'd say he is a better overall talent than Sims. Ball IMO will end up being the best LB the Noles have had in a while though (since Sims underachived). He and Hayes, with Bradham next year.......im telling you, FSU will be the new LB U soon enough

Hell yes, especially since we got Chuck Amato teaching the kids. Not a good HC, but a good specialist.

Jeez. He fell to the fifth.

Did anyone with a brain see him as a first rounder at any point?

Hey, I saw Wesley Woodyard as a second or early third rounder and he went undrafted. He's proving me right though!

people said that about Ernie Sims, who only plays at around 225 in the NFL

Me too! I was shocked when he went undrafted because he had an awesome Senior Bowl week as well...aside from what he did in college.

Hayes looked good on special teams up until his injury. I definitely think he could start for us one day.

Wesley Woodyard has played well in place of D.J. Williams who's been injured the past few games. He was a great find especially as a UDFA.

Woodward and Hayes both look like guys who could be great in the NFL some day. Geno is in the perfect situation as the Tampa 2 is a great fit and he gets to learn behind Derrick Brooks for a little bit.

Yeah, we have 3 young backup LBs and I hope at least 1 picks up on Brooks' habits for highly-effective football players. Barrett Ruud is also a guy who knows the system very well despite a lack of experience. Hayes is naturally athletic with a high ceiling, so I hope he learns well and works hard.
