I've seen some other sites hyping this underclassmen up a bit, but haven't seen his name come up much on here. Has anybody seen a significant amount of game footage on this guy?

System QB. Think Kliff Klingsbury.

I dunno, I thought Holbrook's tools were just as impressive as Brennan's when they played eachother last year. Holbrook is 6'5 235 and put up those incredible numbers as a soph...

He's not a system Qb... he's a much better pro prospect than say Kingsbury, Cumbie, Chang, Harris, or Jacobs. He's got prototypical size, good to great arm, amazing accuracy, nice field vision. Some have him penciled in as a potential late 1st rounder next year...now, he's not quite at say Brennan's level yet but, there is def. potential for him to be right up there w/ him. This is not your typical system QB, he is a legitimate pro prospect, imo.

Tim Couch 2.0

Same coach, same offense, similar size, similar throwing motion, similar mental makeup (I hear).

I admit I have not seen enough of him to really form an opinion...right now its all statline and he-say, she-say for me.....

Tim Couch might have been good in the NFL if he had a better supporting cast to work with. If the Browns picked McNabb #1 overall he would've been a bust too.

Holbrook is a good prospect with good physical tools, but he is raw and comes from a a small school and hasn't played any good competition. I expect somewhere around the early to mid second round ala Beck and Stanton and Kolb this year. Project with a lot of upside, don't think a team will use a first rounder on him unless it's say Chicago who will have one of the last 5 picks in the 1st round.

You never know, Philly sucked too.

But Philly had good OTs and a great offensive coach. Cleveland's RB was named BenGay (okay, not really in his rookie year though, but his RBs were always bad) and their offensive line was horrendous, and the #1 WR was a rookie.

I cant seem to remember, was it Couch that led the Browns to the playoffs or Holcombe? I know they were like splitting starts, but who was the QB down the stretch? Holcome right?

Both actually had pretty decent years in 2002, but Holcomb outplayed Couch. I think Tim had 3000 yards but a 18/18 TD/INT ratio. Holcomb also set the playoff record for Passing Yards in that playoff game where they choked away a 17 point 4th quater lead.

Holbrook is a decent athlete with great size, but I don't like him nearly as much as Brennan. He's a better thrower than, say, Kliff Kingsbury, but he isn't really all that great.

I think that he and Nate Longshore are really similar passers, but Longshore has a better arm and less system concerns.

By just looking at the stats, it is easy to compare his failure to that of David Carr.

I really only watched his game against Boise State and he reminded me of Kolb. Had like 75% and like 500 yards. He gets most of his yards while his team is behind and cant win in the WAC(4-8).

New Mexico is pretty talented for the WAC and even has a couple of above average wide recievers. I think he will stay till he is a senior and I will pencil him in as a 3rd.

I like him. I think he'll be mid-to-late rounder and probably a NFL career back up.

Its about time someone mentions him. I put him down in that preseason thread but everyone laughed at me. He was second in passing yards thrown this season only behind Brennan who played 2 more games than Holbrook and with a much better Oline. Can you say 49 sacks? He can definitely take the hit because Rivals put him down as top prospect for tight end but he didnt want to play anything but QB. Its tough to say if he is a system QB or not because NMSU threw about 80% of the time since their RB hurt his ACL in spring practice. The game against Auburn this year will really tell when he will go in the NFL because Boise State and Hawaii have been the only big competition he has faced so far.

I don't know about that Auburn game, he is going to have way too much on his plate because I don't think his O-line is going to be able to give him time, let alone his WR's getting open against that defense. But I feel like he deserves more press.

He is a system QB, but not to the extent that those other guys mentioned were. I think he will be a mid to late round pick when he comes out.
