Tank need not apply. This guy has proven that he cannot stay out of trouble.

For vet's minimum I'd be on board.

I think he will be a Bronco and how would he fit in the 3-4?

I'd give him a deal much like Ken Hamlin's: a kind of one-year prove yourself contract.

Actually, I just realized he's suspended for the whole 07 season, so scatch my earlier, make it a two year, the first with vets minimum and the second real money.

Isn't it just 8 games?!

He should be suspended for just 8 of the first games of the season. I'd give him a 1 year deal/vet minimum. But i'm pretty sure a handful of teams are thinking the same at the very least.

"Sure, the Cowboys would have an interest in Tank Johnson. (http://www.star-telegram.com/sports/columnists/randy_galloway/story/151730.html)And why not, based on a talented player, particularly a defensive lineman, coming in at a low financial risk. If he screws up again, the boot is salary-cap painless. How about it, Jeff Ireland? "Any interest would be pretty minimal right now," said the Cowboys director of scouting Wednesday. "There were a lot of issues coming out of college with this guy, and now it's been compounded by what went on with the Bears. I don't think we'd be interested at all."

I don't think Tank would fit a 3-4. He's purely a gap penetrator and doesn't play with leverage very well. He'd have to gain 30 lbs to play the NT and even then he'd be playing against his skillset. At DE he might get pressure on the QB but would be terrible at taking on blocks.

Not a 3-4 DE or DT at his playing weight and height, Would need to learn some 2-Gap and get really stout. With that said he is 25 and might be willing given his situation.

Matt Moesley said on espn radio today that Dallas took him off their draft board. So I'd say its highly unlikely they'd take him now.

his height is perfect for a NT. Weight he would probably struggle in a 2 gap system, but everything says we will play a 1 gap system. He may be worth a look, but I am not sure he is really much better than Ratliff.

All NT need to play 2-Gap in a 3-4 as far as I know. Some plays however they go 1-Gap but you can't have a 3-4 NT with 1-Gap responsibility on first and ten. Your Linebackers will get eaten up by the Guard / Center combo.

Yes our linemen will play some 2 gap, but it won't be very much as long as what Wade is saying is true. And yes there will be plenty of 1 gap on 1st and ten if it is true. As long as it is a good system you can get away with 1 gap 3-4 on rushing downs if the LBs stick to their assignments. If they start to chase the back we will be in trouble.

Good luck playing 1 gap with a 3-4 NT on first and ten. Playing 2nd and 2 most of the game with our "lighter" ILBs.

Too short for a 3-4 DE and too light for a 3-4 NT. Sorry for the confusion.
