View Full Version : Fantasy Create a Concert

I had an idea. With all these wacky drafts around here, why not do one where people create a concert with their choice of songs and bands from different eras. It'll probably flop, but here we go anyway.

Each person will try to construct a 5 song concert with a song each from the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, and 00's.

Here are the rules.

1. There are 5 participants.

2. Each participant must pick one song from the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and 00's. Each era will have it's seperate round.

3. No concert may have 2 songs by the same band. A band may be used twice, but only in a different decade and not by the same person. (Say a band was late 60's and early 70's, Concert A can take a song from the 60's by that band, and Concert B a song from the 70's.)

4. Not an actual rule, but you're trying to construct a concert that people wopuld want to see, so it's unadvisable to pick a heavy metal song from the 90's, and then a rap from the 00's, because the two genres are too different.

5. The draft will work like this (similar to teams that are tied in the NFL draft). When a person signs up they will pick an available decade that they want to be first in. For example: 60's. In the next decade, they would be 5th, the next 4th, the next 3rd, the final 2nd. If someone, say picks the 80's, they'd be 5th for the 90's, 4th for the 00's, and then going back to the beginning, would be 3rd for the 60's and so on.

As first to sign up, I pick the 70's. So so far it looks like this

60's
1. Wo_oT88 - Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Child
2. BrownsTown - The Beatles - Hey Jude
3. cardsalltheway - Artetha Franklin - Respect
4. Paul - The Who - My Generation
5. OSUGiants17 - Rolling Stones - 'I Can't Get No (Satisfaction)'

70's
1. BrownsTown - Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven
2. cardsalltheway - Marvin Gaye - What's Goin On
3. Paul - The Clash - I Fought the Law
4. OSUGiants17 - The Beatles - Let It Be
5. Wo_oT88 - Queen- Bohemian Rhapsody

80's
1. cardsalltheway - Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five - The Message
2. Paul - Quiet Riot - Come on Feel the Noize
3. OSUGiants17 - Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child of Mine
4. Wo_oT88 - Pink Floyd - Another Brick in the Wall
5. BrownsTown - Europe - The Final Countdown

90's
1. Paul - Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight Tonight
2. OSUGiants17 - Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
3. Wo_oT88 - Rage Against The Machine - Bulls Parade
4. BrownsTown - Green Day - Basket Case
5. cardsalltheway - Tupac - Changes

00's
1. OSUGiants17 - Missed
2. Wo_oT88 - Red Hot Chili Peppers - Dani California
3. BrownsTown - Fuel - Hemorrhage (In My Hands)
4. cardsalltheway - Nas - One Mic
5. Paul - The killers - Mr. Brightside

At the end, we'll create a poll and people will vote on what concert they'd want to see most.

Sign up list
1. Brownstown (70's)
2. jbombul (80's)
3. OSUGiants17 (00's)
4. Wo_oT88 (60's)
5. Paul (90's)

If anyone thinks there's something that would make this better, don't hesitate to say it.

Concert Name: Live 5(alittle better)

Location: Central Park in NY

Order in which the songs will be performed:
1) The Who - My Generation
2) The Killers - Mr. Brightside
3) The Clash - I Fought The Law
4) Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight Tonight
5) Quiet Riot - Come on Feel the Noize

Explanation of why you picked the songs and the order:

What makes a good concert? Loud anthemetic songs that the whole crowd can sing along to. Each song I picked is more then recognizable even by the occasional rock fan. Plus they are just great songs performed by some great artist.

1) The Who - My Generation - Classic. Perfect way to start off the concert.
2) The Killers - Mr. Brightside - Probably of the most played songs a few years ago, a great song to follow My Gen.
3) The Clash - I Fought The Law - Another classic, if people don't sing along and stomp to this something’s wrong with them
4) Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight Tonight - The more melodic and atmospheric song on the list. Full support from the strings and all.The calm before the storm.
5) Quiet Riot - Come on Feel the Noize - Hundreds of thousands tearing up there voices singing along with this chorus. Fist pumping. Can't beat this is as the closer.

5. The Beatles - Hey Jude
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXG83p2nkHw

Explanation of why you picked the songs and the order:

What I was going for this concert was to showcase the best songs from each genre of rock.

1. Europe - Final Countdown - This is Hard Rock with a technoish keyboard feel to it, and of course one of those songs that just gets you pumped, which makes it a good way to start.

2. Fuel - Hemorrhage (In My Hands) - This is Modern Rock, sort of alternative. Lots of Guitars and emotional lyrics, this is one of those songs you always love hearing on the radio.

3. Green Day - Basket Case - This is the absolute perfect form of Punk Rock, performed by one of the premier punk bands ever.

4. Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven - This is a softer song by a heavy rock band, but Zeppelin of course, never grows old. This song may have the best guitar solo EVER.

5. The Beatles - Hey Jude - The perfect example of classic rock, and also the perfect way to end a concert, the crowd can sing along to the Na-na-na-na's at the end. This is a meaningful song and my personal favorite of one of the greatest bands to ever play.
