Takes a little while but worth it.

My thoughts: There has always been something that has made SVP more human than most of the other ESPN commentators, but I've never been able to pick out what it was. He just seems like a normal guy, a sports fan, who's job happens to be working for the most important sports network in America. It's pretty cold blooded for this to get out, but I think it definitely highlights how normal he is. He's not SVP the celeb, he's just Scott Van Pelt the man. The lonely man.

Scott Van Pelt left a voice mail for someone he met. If I say more I will spoil it for others.

It's Scott leaving a voice mail on some girl's cell phone. He must have gotten the number in some beach town thing, he mentions what community it is. But basically he leaves one of those rambling, terrible voice messages that really insecure guys leave all the time and even the best of us will do now and then.

Ward is right though, it's really worth the listen.

EDIT: Whoever he left that message for, it's pretty ruthless of them to upload something like this for people to hear.

The link doesn't work for me, did that happen for anyone else?

EDIT: Nevermind, I got it to work. I definitely got a different vibe from it than you guys. For the most part it sounded to me like he was being funny. He was talking about her passing things on his checklist and then started joking about amputees.

Wow, I don't even know what to say about that. It's brilliant, pathetic, witty, heartbreaking, and everything in between.

eh, regardless... it's hard to be funny or tell jokes over voicemail, it just doesn't have the same effect.

I think this is just him trying to be funny and coming off as corny. I dont see the depressing thing you guys see.

yeah, i read this thread before i listened for myself, and my first thought was...this guy is trying to act like an insecure goof. BUT, after listening to him ramble on about his lengthy checklist and make light of birth defects, my theory was shot to hell. he just has NO game.

I agree completely. It's not him trying to be funny... it's him desperately not trying to sound stupid.
