I had a few weeks off school recently and watched the first 3 DBZ sagas. It brought back some good memories. Good times.

Generally I agree. However, I occasionally enjoy DBZ. It's nice to look back on the shows that you watched growing up and DBZ was probably the best of the bunch.

I'll watch anime from time to time. I used to be mega into it, but I'm pretty much format agnostic now. If something is interesting, I'll watch it. But I won't favor one thing over another just because it's a massive cultural trend at the moment.

I never understood the appeal of anime.

It's a culture i'll never understand. Might as well go trade Pokemon cards.

Bleach is one of my favorites. I read the manga, as well as One Piece, Eyeshield 21, Naruto, and Gash bell.

Good stuff.

a fair amount of it is NOT the crap you see here on tv. for a fair amount of it, the story-telling is excellent, it just happens to be animated, rather than live action. not "understanding" anime seems akin to not understanding tv shows. *shrug*
No offense, but aren't you like 40 years old?

Anime is pretty cool i used to watch it in bundles when i was a kid. DBZ Gundam Wing and Knights of the Zodiac(spanish version). I started oushing it away after a while but now im starting to get back into it...right now im trying to pick up Naruto, its pretty cool.

I've never been very fond of anime. It always felt like a great deal of it was far too ridiculous (or at least too Japanese) for me to really enjoy it. There are the rare exception, like Cowboy Beebop, which used to be on Adult Swim in the old days, and was pretty awesome. Also, I'm big fan of Hayao Miyazaki and I've heard some pretty positive reviews of Paprika, which is some new anime film that's supposed to look amazing (judge for yourself: http://youtube.com/watch?v=NclRSeV4pBA)

But yeah, I had my DBZ phase when I was 13 and then promptly got over anime.

I'm not pretending to be an expert on it. I've only seen a few things here and there. I watched a movie once that a bunch of guys said was an amazing anime movie. It seemed pretty stupid to me. To each his own I guess.

has anyone seen castle in the sky, that would be my favorite anime movie.

Samurai Champloo, Gungrave, Hellsing and Gantz are all excellent.

Well, I used to love it. Especially DBZ and Dragon Ball. I was a Pokemon/Yu-Gi-Oh nerd too, but I don't know if that counts as anime.

Other ones I liked: Rurouni Kenshin, TriGun, Samurii Champloo (never saw much of it though), Gundam Wing, Cowbow Beebop

But I stopped watching when I started having more to do, because most of it is at night. I used to stay up at night to watch, but that resulted in my grades dropping a lot. And then I got into football, and I don't want to be going to bed so late when I have to get up early. So, I guess I'll have to buy movies if I want to get into it again.

trigun was terrific. and i can understand american viewers not digging it. like i said, most of what is readily available here sucks. but i wouldn't write off the entire genre as geek cartoons based on that.

I don't know, I got awful sick of that almost-androgynous japanese male with ridiculous hair character. You know the one. The one in every anime series ever.

I've found some nuggets of quality in japanese animation (anyone who appreciates Japanese culture one tiny ioda should watch FLCL), I've waded through a lot more garbage trying to find them.

YuYu Hakusho was the ****...was the last series when they were at the tourney and he had to beat that one dude that could use whatever percentage of power he wanted?

Does anyone know where i could go to watch the Naruto episodes? I just got into the series and im a bit lost since ive missed so many episodes.

I used to like Cowboy Beebop, the Cowboy Beebop movie, Trigun, Full Metal Alchemist, DBZ(of course), the original Ghost in the Shell movie, and Ghost in the Shell: Stand alone Complex. Oh, and of course Ninja Scroll is one of the best anime movies around IMO, along with Vampire Hunter D, the original and Bloodlust.

yu yu, bebop, champloo, dbz, were all awesome. Never saw the last season of Hakusho though..

I really liked Beck too though, which was about a boy learning to play the guitar and getting into a rock band.

I have heard that they finished yu yu and been meaning to watch it. As for where to watch episodes I watch the new Naruto episodes on crunchyroll.com I'm sure they have old episodes too.
