I would've nominated DMX for the spot if I thought of it soon enough.

Bad pick. They should've hired Pierce Brosnan.

I don't know about Pierce, but they definitely needed someone in the smooth mold like him. I'm not liking a comedian as the host.

EDIT: Still better than Rosie though.

How can you not love Drew Carey if you've seen "The Drew Carey" show? He is the perfect fit. Cleveland rocks!

I'm not a fan of Drew Carey, but I think it was a solid choice. They could've done a lot worse.

He could piggyback off of Stiles, Brady and Mochrie in Whose Line, but in this, he's totally screwed.

am i missing something? why does it matter if the host for the price is right is funny or not? its not really a comedy show anyways

its gonna be weird no matter who woulda took over and it will probably be like your not even watching the same show.

they could have done alot worse and like many of you said thank god it isnt Rosie

I think it is a great choice. The Drew Carey show is HIGHLY HIGHLY underrated, and Drew has a lot of various talents including singing and more. He is an intelligent guy with good humor, and I think it will work well.

Meh, Drew is actually a decent replacement for the part.... That is, If it was possible to replace Bobby boy. TPIR should cease to exists after Bob.

The Drew Carey show was funny, and I also enjoyed Ryan Stiles on that show, much like Whose line

Bring Back Whose Line

They did something called Drew Carey's Green Screen show that didn't have Ryan or Wayne and had a bunch of crappy guys besides Colin. It wasn't very good.

He has a new game show on CBS, so the move makes sense there. Yeah, I like Carey, a white fat guy, always a good move. There were better choices such as Bob Saget as WMD said, but at least it isn't Rosie.

What's his face from Seinfeld on Family Feud and now my man from Cleveland Drew Carrey on the Price is Right. Late morning television Isn't going to hell afterall with Barker retiring.

That green screen show looked like a stoner might find it interesting. They need to bring back Who's Line for real. That was my favorite show on network TV. (of course that was before the office)

I'm not too happy with this pick. I just don't think anyone can really live up to Bob Barker's status as a tv icon and certainly not Drew Carey whose career has floundered ever since The Drew Carey Show went off the air.

They should've gone with Steve Carell

that's improbable yet would be hysterical.

BrownsTown
07-23-2007, 11:42 PM
I heard rumors of Dan Patrick, that would've been great. The calm guy who can crack a joke if he wants to, but not a comedy dude like Carey who isn't really that funny.

I think Drew Carey will be a fine Price is Right host.. it's not like he's going to be doing a 30 Minute Stand Up Routine. He just needs to make cute comments and make old people happy.

Turtlepower

It should have been Mark Summers. Family Double Dare and What Would You Do were two of the greatest shows ever because of the OCD Mark Summers.

I like Drew Carey as the host. He's a great "middle america" type, he's nonthreatening, and he has hosting experience with other shows. He's also pretty young, so he can get out there and do his thing for a while. I think they need to keep the host in his late 30's to start with to keep the existing show demographic.

I loved the Drew Carey show, but always thought he sucked as the host of "Whose Line?" Not sure I like him in a host role.

He has a game show coming out soon on a major network. I think it would be a good trial run for him.

The Power of 10

Scar

Why not see if he's good on "The Power of 10" though before handing the reins to one of the longest running and most popular game shows in history? I realize they need to fill the void now, but shouldn't they have thought of that a long time ago so it wasn't such a scramble after Barker retired.

Shane P. Hallam
07-24-2007, 12:42 PM
They have been. They auditioned a lot of people, and I'm sure Barker had his hand in it too.

I think they should do it a lot like they did the Tonight Show. Have a few guest hosts get out there and give the job to the one that did it the best.
