View Full Version : Who is your Shocking Hall of Fame Pick?

Stemming from the recent retirement of Curtis Martin, I was wondering who everyone believes should be a Hall of Famer. These can be current or former Hall of Famers, but people that might cause some disagreement.

I believe that Kurt Warner should be a Hall of Famer. He is the model of consistency and determination in the NFL. Not only doe she have a great life story, but he is also second in the NFL in all-time passer-rating, behind Steve Young. Whenever he wasn't injured, he was great and has a super bowl ring as well. I know he didn't have a full career, but he had to work hard just to get into the NFL, so I would forgive him for that.

Warner is also the most accurate QB of all-time in terms of completetion percentage.

as good as Warner was I just cant justify anyone with a career as short as his in the HOF. Its the same reason Terrell Davis isnt getting in the HOF. As for my pick, Im calling it right now....Reggie Bush will be a first ballot HOFer

I wish...

But more likely it will be some quarterback, like Warner as some have said.

Warner - no freaking way. No.

Not unless he breaks out again at age 37 and has a Gannon-like late career stretch. That would be the only way. You can't get into the Hall of Fame on three great seasons and five OK seasons.

also I don't agree with any of bored's picks

How about some OL candidates? My dark horse OL pick would be Willie Anderson. I guess the only guard I can think of would be Hutchinson, but that's probably the most obvious pick.

I think that Ricky Watters should be in but certainly not Terrell Davis. Though the "For who? For what?" thing with Watters could hurt him but hopefully that will be overlooked. As for Davis, I don't think he played long enough to earn HOF honors. If Mike Alstott makes the HOF I'm gonna throw up.

I can't remember but isn't Irving Fryar still not in the HOF? If so, that's sad.

I actually wouldn't be surprised to see Robert Gallery turn it around. He has the potential and really is given too much blame for how bad Oakland's O-line has been.

Terrell Davis. In the other HOF thread, someone brought up how his career was actually markedly better than Sayers. A lot of people will make the system excuse, but to them I have a question: When has the Denver running game been dominant since he retired? Answer is, only when we had Portis. No other RB has come close to matching him in the system. The ZBS makes mediocre RBs look pretty decent, TD was a great player who played very well. You don't see Tatum/Mike Bell putting up those stats last year. Only Portis, widely considered a top 5 RB in the NFL, came close, and he didn't eclipse TD's numbers.

Gary Clark - Washington Redskins. A career the equal of anyone in his playing span.

Sterling Sharpe - Was great enough to overcome his short playing career had he been able to play another 5 years his numbers would be Top 5.

Wrong, and your point? There was only one person saying he should go in, and that was silly.

If he does the same he's done for most of his career for the rest of his career, no he won't. But he's only, what, like 29? He could possibly make a late career surge. Or if you didn't really want shocking:

Curtis Martin
Peyton Manning
Tom Brady

Mark Bavaro. I really can't think of any. Art Monk, but thats obvious. I think the NFL generally does a good job with this.

I totally agree. There isn't anything more that TD could have accomplished. How many RB's can say that they were the NFL MVP, Super Bowl MVP, Two-time Super Bow Winner and a 2000 yard rusher. The answer is none. TD deserves to go to the HOF.
