OWINGS MILLS, Md. (July 24, 2007) -- Former Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith was one of four rookies the Baltimore Ravens signed to three-year contracts.

The defending AFC North champions also signed University of Maryland offensive tackle Jared Gaither, who was a fifth-round supplemental pick. Yamon Figurs was also signed as a wide receiver and return specialist, and linebacker Prescott Burgess was also signed, the team said.

The Ravens hope that by the time training camp begins July 29 at McDaniel College in Westminster they also will have signed first-round guard Ben Grubbs and fullback Le'Ron McClain.

Ravens almost never fail in the draft...

Grubbs and McClain need to be in camp on time if they want a fair shot at starting at their respective positions.

The Mighty Ravens will come into this season with a renewed vigor for greatness, and with there offseason upgrades and changes you will know that this is a team of Destiny........I watch too much NFL Films...

I'd be more excited if we had a better QB starting for us. Say what you want but McNair has no arm, he isn't mobile anymore, and he has started to show signs of making bad decisions on the regular, he is THE ? on this team IMO.

We just have to hold on with what we have as of current i'm hopin over a season or two Troy Smith will get the experience he needs to mature, but for now he has Willis McGahee to back him up and with Clayton and Williams, and hopefully he utilizes Heap more..and our Defense will hold it down like always...

The 2 in front and the 2 behind Grubbs have signed. What's holding him? Probably big money since the guys in front and behind are an OT, WR, another WR and a TE.

Maybe he is waiting for Blaylock to sign then he asks for more.

if 28 and 30 are signed there should be no problem he gets more than 30 but less than 28.

well it should be really simple as Staley received a 5 year $8 million contract and Davis received a 5 year $7.8 million contract..soooo im thinking it may be around 5 yr 7.9 million...but who knows and hopefully it gets done soon especially with how close those 2 numbers are

If he doesn't get into camp on time then I predict our OL will be Ogden, Brown, Flynn, Chester, Terry on opening night.

I think that is what it would be anyway if he doesn't sign or not.

How long do yall think itll take Gaither to get the game down and be able to start at RT.

Atleast one year, either him or Yanda will more then likely be thrown in at RT next year so hopefully by next year he will be capable of starting. I think he will be ready in a year

I don't think he'll be a RT, thats Adam Terry's job. Gaither is gonna replace JO at LT when JO retires after the season or after the 08-09 season.

Yeah I like to hope that Terry can stay comfortable playing RT since thats where hes slated to play this year. Than when JO retires Gaither would be the perfect replacement at LT.

I always thought LT was Terrys natural position, he felt more comfortable at it. He was great at Syracuse and played well with us. But I hope he picks up RT is Gaither is supposed to be our LT of the future.

Jamaal Anderson and Aaron Ross have signed. Grubbs had better sign soon.

i much prefer Gaither at Rt and Terry at LT, just mainly because Terry is a natural LT, he is not a mauler in the run game, which Gaither is..and he has better technique to block the QB's blindside then that of Gaither, i would feel more comfortable with terry at LT after Ogden retires and im sure the coaching staff will too, plus he will have a year of starting experience compared to a raw player like gaither, even more reason to feel more comfortable with him at LT

That's what I would like to see, but if Gaither cannot pick up the scheme to start at RT, say if Ogden retires after this season, do yall think Yanda can play RT and do well?
