I loved to watch Steve Atwater when I was younger.

I think Ernie Stautner should be on this list.

I think they pretty much named every Steeler that should or could potentially be on this list.

Except Ernie Stautner. That guy was "The" Monster of the 1950's.

Are you freaking kidding me? Jack Tatum at #23? John Lynch and Ray Lewis above him? Ridiculous.

I don't think that was the numbering. As said in the title its just: "25 Hard Hitters of All Time". Not TOP 25 Hitters of all time. The 'top' would then make it a list. If anything the it's always from bottom to top in SI.com's lists like that.

Jack Tatum = #1 by far. He used to murder people in Oakland. Heck he's almost a hall of famer solely on his ability to knock the crap out of guys. Ask any one who knows anything about all time football, that is the obvious answer. This list is stoopid.

Watch out.. I almost flipped too.

It says "Next"

But it starts at 25 and goes from 1 to 25 then.

I also think Jack Tatum is #1. But there is an argument for Lawrence Taylor, obviously. I also think Ronnie Lott should be higher on the list.

Jack Tatum ISNT in the hall of fame because of how hard he used to hit. Had he not caused the paralysis of that one man, he would be in the hall right now.

nice to have some packers in there but I would rate Ray Nitschke better then Lynch.

Very solid list and like bearsfan stated the list is in alphabetical order not a ranking of them.

It's football, $&8! happens. Don't play if you're not gonna risk a freak injury. Players get hurt all the time. What do you want him to do, not hit so hard, lighten up on people, play nice? That's stupid, he just hit the crap out of that guy and bad luck happened. Anyways, this is off the point of the thread really.

LT was a pretty hard hitter, but he did coke and he's in the hall, so...

Bill Romanowski got screwed.

Yeah, he was a killer at linebacker. How come all these guys were jerks?...LT, Romanowski, Tatum. Nice guys don't knock the living crap out of people as effectively I guess.

Tatum scares me. I remb seeing highlight clips of his hard hits for the Raiders that lasted 10 minutes long.

There are a few offensive players that could of been on that list too. I know defense is associated with hard hitting always. Oh wells interesting list.
