I was thinking it might be a good idea to have one thread for tracking all significant training camp & preseason injuries.

I know some of these have been posted already.....

Vikings | Taylor injured
Tue, 31 Jul 2007 09:30:13 -0700 Sean Jensen (http://www.kffl.com/link/33), of the Pioneer Press (http://www.kffl.com/link/26), reports Minnesota Vikings (http://www.kffl.com/team/23/nfl) RB Chester Taylor (http://www.kffl.com/player/153/nfl) (arm) appeared to injure his right arm during practice Tuesday, July 31. Taylor was helped off the field by a trainer.

Redskins | Samuels could play in preseason finale
Tue, 31 Jul 2007 09:19:40 -0700
Updating previous reports, Gary Fitzergald, of Redskins.com, reports Washington Redskins (http://www.kffl.com/team/37/nfl) OLT Chris Samuels (http://www.kffl.com/player/1929/nfl) (knee) could be available for the team's Aug. 30, preseason finale against the Jacksonville Jaguars (http://www.kffl.com/team/20/nfl). Samuels is expected to miss up to four weeks after suffering a sprained right MCL during practice Monday, July 30.

Matt Maiocco (http://www.kffl.com/link/19), of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat (http://www.kffl.com/link/32), reports San Francisco 49ers (http://www.kffl.com/team/32/nfl) RB Frank Gore (http://www.kffl.com/player/8783/nfl) (hand) suffered a broken right hand during the team's morning practice Monday, July 30. He is expected to miss at least a week and possibly several exhibition games. The bone is expected to take four weeks to heal, so it is not known if Gore will play during the exhibition season.

Three injuries the Falcons are having to deal with:

Rod Coleman will miss the first part of the season due to a leg injury in a freak boating accident.
Warrick Dunn will miss the next 4-6 weeks due to a back injury.

LINK (http://thefootballexpert.com/falconstroublesdeeper070001.html)

Basically this off-season has been as bad as imaginable for the Falcons. The one glimmer of hope is that Demorrio Williams is weeks ahead of his rehab schedule and should be at full force for the regular season.

Saints second-year DE Rob Ninkovich had to be carted off the field Monday after suffering an injury to his left knee.
Ninkovich, who missed most of last season with a torn ACL, was in tears after the apparent setback, but coach Sean Payton said later findings were encouraging. Ninkovich is expected to be New Orleans' third end this year.

Apparently he is out four weeks.

Chester Taylor left Blakeslee Stadium on a cart this morning because of a right forearm contusion. Taylor, who rushed for more than 1,000 yards last season, was hit after catching a pass and, after a short period of time, appeared to be in a lot of pain.

Vikings coach Brad Childress downplayed the injury after practice, describing it as a “contusion.”

UPDATE FROM JUDD’S ASSISTANT/Seifert:

Taylor declined to comment as he departed the locker room this afternoon. He was healthy enough to ride a bicycle. He had a white elastic sleeve covering the area from his right hand to his elbow, with padding underneath. There did not appear to be a hard cast anywhere.

Seems to be going under the radar but Dan Cody has injured and is out indefinately accoring to ESPN. Cody was a candidate to take Adalius Thoms' spot as the OLB. Some reports say he could miss the entire season.

Well that's shocking Cody getting hurt again. Also Jarrett Johnson was the leading candidate for that spot, and they did pick up Barnes in the draft so losing Cody shouldn't be that much of a loss.

Terry Glenn, WR DAL

News: Dallas Cowboys receiver Terry Glenn had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Tuesday, the same day Terrell Owens got a break from practice to rest his sore hamstring. While an MRI showed no serious damage after Glenn hurt his knee in practice Sunday, the decision was made to have the procedure after he kept having pain. He is expected to be out about two weeks. "There's a little positiveness here because if there's a little something loose there, we can get it out," owner Jerry Jones said. "There was something loose, some little cartilage or something in the joint. They thought they'd get it out now. We don't think it's serious."

POZ TURNS ANKLE: Paul Posluszny just turned his right ankle pretty badly in an individual position drill. It was non-contact and he was limping around. He's gutting it out a bit right now. We will see how much he's allowed to participate in team work later in practice. John DiGiorgio is already not participating.

Anthony Hargrove tweaked his hamstring late in practice but its not considered serious. Paul Posluszny, who turned an ankle early, finished practice without any lingering problems.

this is scary....good thing nothing happened

Scary moment
Toward the end of practice left tackle Jason Peters went down during 11-on-11 on a play when his leg got rolled up under a defensive lineman who was pursuing the flow of the ball. Things got real quiet, real fast as Peters laid down on his stomach for 10 to 15 seconds before getting up slowly. He gingerly walked off the field and was speaking with the athletic training staff.

Also, long snapper Ryan Kuehl has severly hurt his calf and it will be weeks before they can even evaluate it. Also, CB Kevin Dockery has a severe concussion and cant even attend meetings because the light gives him headaches...

Drew Stanton is out for the year

Smooth Criminal
08-03-2007, 10:00 PM
Thats a shame about Stanton. I think he has alot of potential. He needed to be on the team this year so he could take over for Kitna after a season.

Hope he can recover from this. The Lions need him for the future.

Geo
08-03-2007, 10:49 PM
Just to be clear, it's not a serious injury that Stanton suffered, but it will cause him to miss a month or so - most if not all of training camp and the pre-season - which was his opportunity to get experience on the field. Whatever slight chance he had of contributing to the regular season 53-man roster was reduced even further.

Now Stanton can't practice with the team, being on IR, but how many reps was he going to get as the third string quarterback really? He can however still attend team meetings and work out at the Lions' facility, using the year to work on his mechanics and learn the offense.

Interesting news out of Chargers' camp Friday:

Veteran Eric Parker, who led all Chargers wide receivers in receptions and yards last year, will be out of action for up to 10 weeks after undergoing an operation on his toe Friday morning.

...

Friday afternoon’s practice saw several young receivers taking more reps than usual do to the fact that Parker, Vincent Jackson (lower leg), Craig Davis (knee) and Kassim Osgood (hamstring) were all sidelined. Turner remained upbeat regarding the status of his receivers.

Broncos' DE Moss injured

By Bill Williamson
Denver Post Staff Writer
Article Last Updated: 08/06/2007 11:14:31 AM MDT

Broncos' first-round pick Jarvis Moss departed Monday's morning practice with a knee injury. The injury occurred about 9:35 a.m., but further details on the severity of his injury aren't known.

The No. 17 overall pick was taken off the field on a cart after injuring his left knee. The pass-rushing defensive end was injured in an individual pass-rushing drill. He attempted a spin move, planted his leg, then fell to the ground. He got to his feet, but was assisted to the cart.

Head coach Mike Shanahan said Moss will undergo an MRI test today. He said the knee might just be twisted.

Moss was drafted to give the Broncos some much needed help in its defensive pass rush.

Nose tackle Aubrayo Franklin, a free agent pickup this off-season from Baltimore went down during the team period with a knee injury and will have an MRI later this afternoon.

“It’s a sprain right now,” said Nolan. “The fear is that it would be something other than a sprain. I didn’t see it. Just a couple of offensive linemen coming back to me had said he got caught up pretty good. That’s all they said. I don’t know how it occurred. I’ll see if I can see it on film. I didn’t see it at all.”

Rookie linebacker Rufus Alexander, the Vikings' fifth-round draft choice and a rising special teams star, could be lost for the season after suffering a serious injury to his right knee in the Vikings' 13-10 preseason loss to St. Louis.

Jones is confident he will be able to return in time for the start of the regular season. Rosenhaus said Jones underwent an MRI, which showed the calf strain. It's said to possibly be career-threatening:

"ANDREWS DONE FOR THE YEAR?

There are plenty of reports, rumors, and speculation emerging from Philly that guard Shawn Andrews is out for the season with an ankle injury.

There are also suggestions that the injury might be career-threatening.

"I don't know what to think right now," Andrews said of the injury. "Just rehabbing, trying to rest it, stay off of it."

Andrews also called his meeting with a specialist a "tear-jerker."

Unless Andrews actually was saying "I want some beef-jerky," none of this sounds good."

Great news.

Bad news for me since I am a Vince Young fantasy owner.

This obviously wasn't a TC/Preseason injury but David Pollack has been placed on the PUP, seems that there's still some hope he could play this year although I doubt it's much.

Marcus Tubbs is out for the season. What a cataclysmic loss for the Seahawks. Their run defense worsened by 60 yards last year without him!

Don't worry you guys have Russell Davis, you'll be fine. Oh wait you guys released him, damn it that sucks for you guys.

Greg Olsen sprained a few ligiments in his knee in the final preseason game and was carted off the field but there was no structural damage and he's listed as day-to-day. It's highly unlikely he'll be available for the Chargers game though, which is a huge blow considering we'll need as much speed as we can possibly get to neutralize the blitz.

Rod Coleman is out for the first quarter of the season. This just isn't our year, sigh.

Terry Glenn may be out for the year, ESPN's Matt Mosely is reporting.

Terry Glenn may be out for the year, ESPN's Matt Mosely is reporting.

"I want play this year, and I really feel I have chance so I'm really leaning toward taking the [damaged] piece out and trying to play this year even though I'm risking the rest of my career by doing that," Glenn said Friday night. "I think that's what I'm going to do. I'm not sure, but I've played 12 years and don't have a lot of years left. I want to win now, and I think we have a chance to win now.

"My Super Bowl chances are running out, so that's what I will probably do. But I know there's a great percentage risk that I could do that, ruin my knee, never play again and have to limp the rest of my life."
