Sidenote I scared the living Daylights out of my 1 month old cheering on the Coleman TD out of halftime. I was feeding him and let out a "YEAH", and my little man proceeded to scream bloody murder for the next three minutes.

nice time for an off week to reset and get after Connecticut.

Incredible. I haven't had that much excitement watching a Rutgers game since "Pandemonium in Piscataway." Hopefully that was the game/moment Nova needed to take the next step and be more consistent.

I was at the Louisville game, bought the tickets for $9 a piece before the season. That game was complete insanity, I was in the far endzone and rushed the field like a mad man. Got to high five Ray Rice, idk if any game will ever amount to that experience in my mind.

What a win!! We can't have a letdown. Whatever we want to accomplish is right in front of this team. The D needs to step back up and Nova is the man. I knew he had it in him.

Al Page and Isaac Holmes both done. Motherf*cker!!! We just lost 2 more players for the year, both at DT. Our DL depth just took a huge hit. Not good considering that was already our weak spot on D.

10-02-2012, 01:14 PM
ughhh, what's with our teams getting crushed at injuries and them being focused at one position?

Looks like Hamilton's gonna have to step up and show why he was the #1 recruit. Let's do it, yung'in

With our hot start, it makes me wonder...did Schianno hold us back?

Not the easiest question to answer but no. Flood is doing well but Schiano is the one who gave him all the talent. It might have the perfect time for both Schiano and Rutgers to split though.

scottyboy
10-02-2012, 02:26 PM
also, schiano's teams forte was choking games we shouldn't lose while on a hot streak, like our next 3-4 games. We'll see how Flood does

scottyboy
10-03-2012, 12:10 PM
Scotty, you pumped for the blackout?

extremely. With the game at noon it's been dubbed "blackout before the blackout" because we're all alcoholics. I"m super excited though. Games like that are always fun, like the chop squad and previous blackouts

I'm sure the game is going to be a blast. I wish I was going.

I will admit that I have a conflict of interest in this game. I know the UCONN starting running back (played on his team when I was younger) so I want to see him do well but go RU!

From an ESPN chat today. Thought you guys might be interested.

Mitch (NJ)

Where do you see some of the top Rutgers players going in the draft? There's definitely some talent at LB, CB and WR, as well as Jamison.

Mel Kiper (1:30 PM)

Rutgers has a guy that could be in the second or third round discussion Khaseem Greene, OLB, senior. Very productive player. He's added 10-12 pounds to his frame. Former safety. Solid in coverage. Mark Harrison, senior, WR, he's got a mid-round grade. Logan Ryan, CB, junior. He already has 5 pass break ups and an INT. Steve Beauharnais, a late round possibility. D.C. Jefferson, TE, late round possibility.

Giantsfan1080
10-03-2012, 09:08 PM
Duron Harmon, Brandon Jones, and RJ Dill also have a chance in the draft. Mostly mid rounders and UDFA's though most likely. If Ryan comes out he'll go 1st or 2nd. I hope he stays as he would be a nice bridge to the younger guys that we have.

Giantsfan1080
10-05-2012, 09:20 AM
I think Huggins is going to have a breakout game tomorrow to give us a true 2 headed RB monster.

Witten4HOF
10-05-2012, 09:39 AM
I sure hope the Arkansas version of Nova hangs around for a while. Harrison and Coleman are a hard duo to stop on the outside when the ball gets out of his hand in a timely accurate manor. Huggins needs to step his game up and help JJ chew away at Uconn's front seven. Forcing them to throw extra men in the box will really open things up down field.

Shuler will get his time next year. Let's not forget he's still raw as a WR. WE play excellent defense, run the ball, and take shots when we have too. That's our identity and it's going to be like that all year.

Harrison is 81. Big body and should be drafted 6th or 7th round. A little too many mental lapses with him but he does have all the tools.

Warren is 27. Good CB but not sure he makes it pro. Doesn't have many measurables.

I need to see more of this team. I only caught the 2nd half today.

They can throw when they want but it's not what we do. This Uconn D will probably be the toughest D of the year also. Their secondary matches up better with our WR's than any other team.

Yeah very very doubtful. Rob Smith is the DC. He was very good at Maine at the same position and then he just learned from Schiano. I'm very high on him as a coaching prospect though. I think he'll be a college head coach in a few years which is going to leave me upset. He's the real deal.

same. ugh, that'd be a huge blow, but we'd still have Savon and Deering could always go back to RB. again. Jamison could be a 2nd round pick at this rate. Not much mileage on him, ridiculous productivity. Man

I don't know his measurables but yeah he'd be smart to go. Huggins, Peoples, and you're going to love our RB recruit coming in for next year. Dontae Ayers. He's got juicier thighs than Ray Ray already. Kid is huge for being six foot.

Somehow we're top 30 nationally right now but it's not even close to last year. We have a lot more under the radar guys and lower 3 stars. We're going to close strong though the way we're playing. Barnwell was huge!! Everyone loves this guy. We need Dorian Miller, Andre Patton, and AQM from Bosco. Tashan Bower might flip back to to us also. We have Klecko's son coming in also from Red Bank. He's a lot better than what he's rated because he's undersized.

Brandon Coleman is built like Megatron. 6'6 with great speed. He still needs work at the position but his size and speed will make him a first rounder I think. He's my offensive man crush.

#20 is Khaseem Greene. He'll be a 2nd or 3rd rounder. He reminds me of Kendricks from the Eagles or even Jacquian Williams. Mel Kiper has him as the #1 rated Sr. OLB right now. He was moved from S to LB just last year but he is such a monster. He's always around the ball.

I've been saying that for awhile now but I'm a little concerned with Ryan's top end speed. He's a great cover guy but the speedy guys get the better of him at times. He's one of the best tackling CB's I've ever seen though. He sets the edge so well.

The best part is he probably should have been thrown out of the game. He kind of threw a punch earlier at someone but missed. It's what got him pumped though. Even Flood gave him a talk to calm it down a bit at one point.

Greene is coming out at the perfect time with defenses really having to get smaller, more athletic linebacker to drop back in coverage. A little while ago, he would have been said to be a tweener who isnt big enough.

Im not even on the twitter so I want nothing to do with that. I think Beauharnis (42) is a guy who could be a solid rotation linebacker but may be held back by straight line speed. Teams will think hes just too slow when hes a really nice player. Not a true playmaker type, but really fits into a defense.

I was on high alert for this game and thought the high tempo offense Cuse runs could cause some issues. Thankfully they shot themselves in the foot and couldn't maintain a good rythem. Khaseem is a monster whenever the D needed a big play he was around, 14 tackles 3 FF, 1 sack and an Int, wow. Vallone was huge getting pressure from the inside as well.

I was really surprised Flood didn't turn loose Nova after having success with Coleman in the 1st. I know he wants to live and die by the run but it's tough to run against 8/9 man fronts the whole game.

I almost cried when Harmon woofed on the late int attempt late allowing Cuse to walk in for the late TD making it a one score game. Almost lost it again when Harrison let a ball slip right through his hands to make it two scores again.

Your're right, that wasn't Harmon. It wouldn't have even been a second thought if he got his hands on the ball but that is to much of a gamble when you are the last line of defense.

His measurables are off the charts. He's very Megatron like with his height and speed combo. He's still kind of raw at the position tough. He drops some balls he shouldn't but he can work on that. The biggest problem for him right now is locating the ball in the air. He still has trouble with that. His progression has been excellent though and he's a big play machine. Future 1st Rounder!

Kent St should be an easy win for homecoming. Rice and Leonard both announced they will be in attendance which hypes me up even more. Army should be another W on paper then the big three conference games to wrap up the season. Cincinatti losing yesterday was a kick in the nuts, I expected them to get their first loss next week against Louisville and rebound back to the top 25 by the time we played. Still think they have a strong defense that can give us problems. I refuse to sleep on Pitt regardless of their issues, Im interested to see how they do against Temple.

He's very good but Greene is better. Beau is more versatile because he can play any LB position but the measureables won't be there come draft time. He'll probably be a 5th-7th round pick. Greene will probably go in the 2nd or 3rd.

Realistically I think Greene, Beau, Ryan, Harmon, and Jones all have a spot in the NFL. I don't care about schemes as much as I used to, but I do care a lot about fundamentals. And Rutgers is just so much more fundamentally sound than the Giants defense.

They do everything right that you want to see and then the scheme is the tops. I was actually thinking today that I wish the Giants could tackle like this.

Logan Ryan is the best tackling CB I've ever seen including the NFL. I know that sounds like crazy talk but it's not.

Will Allen was pretty darn good. But yeah, I like Ryan. He's perfect for a Cover 2 scheme.

The Giants believe in a length/size philosophy. It's what makes our DL great, but also makes our back 7 less effective. I'd like to see us get a little smaller and faster in the back 7.

Rutgers defense is built like the Eagles defense. Small and fast all over.

Oh I agree. I don't like having a small defense as a whole like they do. But I would like to see us get a little smaller and faster in the LB core.

We just need to improve our speed in the back 7. Our back 7 is slow.

I don't follow CB that much. What does this mean? Do we actually get blue chip recruits from other states now? Or do we still get 3 stars mostly?

Maybe in the long run but right now it is going to probably be the same sweet spot the team has been plucking from. Now if the team has success against the Michigans, Ohio States, and Penn States of the world gradually you will see things start to happen recruit wise.

The immediate impact is going to be the amount of revenue sharing increase coming from the conference itself and more sold out games to see grade A opponents.

We've been getting a good amount of 4 stars the last few years. We even got our first 5 star ever last year. We stick to the State of Rutgers but recruiting has been on the up swing for quite a while now.

This move will not make as big of a difference as you would think. We still will get poached but NJ is mostly owned by us now.

So what does that increase in money mean? Just funding for other sports or better stadium renovations for the football team? I would be interested to see if we can beat UMICH, OSU, and PSU. I am still waiting for the day we can consistently grab 3-5 star recruits.

We do consistently grab those recruits now. Rutgers has had a top 50 class the last 5 years.

The extra money will help finance the first expansion that we're still paying for and it also allow the college to bring back some sports they had to cut. No one is sure what programs will be brought back yet though.

It will be interesting how fast a Rutgers/ Penn St rivalry develops. I know that they really push to get NJ recruits and with a manageable driving distance for tailgaters things should heat up pretty quickly IMO.

Agreed. Not only is a large percentage of our football team from NJ and Maryland, but NJ is also the largest state represented at PSU behind PA in terms of student body.

He's an interior OL. Pretty big boy and a little underrated by Rivals. All the other recruiting sites have him rated higher. I'd say he's a higher rated 3*.

Well we had a few but looking at the bigger named or successful history schools, they seem to have nothing but 4 and 5 star guys. I know that might be far off or WAY off, but can we get a few 5s and a bunch of 4s? Are we closer to that at least or will we be by this move is what I am curious about?

This year we're a little down because a lot of the NJ kids wanted to leave state no matter what.

In general the last few years we get majority 3* and usually pull three to five 4* a year with Hamilton being our first 5* ever but even with in that the quality of recruit has got a ton better. Being able to sell the B1G will only help but we're never going to be on the upper echelon like Texas, USC, Michigan, ND, Alabama, LSU and so on. It's tough to foresee that really happening unless we go on a run that not even Scotty could imagine.

Ok, that's what I convinced myself. I look, for fun, on the schools you listed. It really is amazing!

Something insane like that. You look at that and I think to myself, how in the world does that happen on a consistent basis? I think it's a loyalty aspect too. A lot of the Texas schools want to go to Texas, and those that don't go to the other good schools there. Our guys stay in state, in NJ, but a lot also go to PSU, ND, and BC. If we can increase that retention rate more that would be great.

We are slowly getting better keeping the NJ guys home but Rutgers has always had a stigma against it and for good reason. It takes a long time to change that around and Schiano was amazing in that regard. Like you said there is no loyalty to Rutgers among players compared to other states but it's slowly coming around. Just need to keep winning.

We also have maintained a nice foothole in Florida thanks to coach Schiano. If we keep winning in a tougher conference we might be able to pluck some of their upper echelon players as well.
