There's that auto word replacement again . . . cool = ga y on NFLDC . . . http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/forum/images/icons/icon7.gif

Seriously . . . we ought to be able to trade draft slots.

Well that's always a fun question.... Hmmm....

Let's take your post count minus your IQ divided Size of your... ....WAIST! Get your mind outta the gutter! multiplied by the number of cool partners Xio has had in the last month.

The draft order will be random, I will assign each owner by number and use a random number generator with the #'s 1 through 10. Snake style like always.

We would all be selecting Zero then, because all that post count/IQ/waist size crap will be irrelevant when multiplied by ZERO, ha ha.

Anything times zero is zero.

Might I suggest adding another flex position . . . there are gonna be a ton of great players sitting on our benches each week . . . especially now with so many teams using multiple Running Backs so much . . .

I'd rather increase the league to 12. The rest of my leagues are small like this. I want to be in a deep league too. Keepers are usually bigger anyways.

Sounds good, now when does this draft get underway?

I would suggest starting it very soon. The draft we did on this site for Ghetto's fantasy football league went pretty well. Starting soon would enable us to not be rushed. We didn't have to skip over anyone, which was nice.

Am I in this league? I thought I was. Draft is tonight, right?

Hmm . . . you are signed up for the league through Yahoo . . . and yet D-Unit doesn't have you on the list in the first post of this thread . . . that's a mistake . . .

Draft was supposed to be tonight initially, but we have changed it to an offline draft to take place on NFLDC over the course of several days.

Moses and bearsfan51 are not signed up for the league through Yahoo . . . somebody needs to sort this out . . .

bsaza2358
08-14-2007, 11:25 AM
If we're going with an offline draft, I could do that. Let's get started ASAP. Ask someone unaffiliated with the league who we can trust to do the draft pull, and let's get going.

bsaza2358
08-14-2007, 11:29 AM
I am in the Yahoo League. At the very least, we should change the league settings to an offline format, so we don't accidently autodraft at some point tonight.

bsaza2358
08-14-2007, 11:53 AM
Okay, I must be confused. There is a Yahoo league with DJP as commish with a nearly identical keeper setup that is supposed to draft online tonight, and I'm in the Yahoo league. This thread mentions a league with virtually identical membership to the Yahoo league, but I'm not in it, and DJP is also commish. Changes recommended and agreed to in this thread mirror the changes noted on the Yahoo site . DJP, can you please clarify?

djp
08-14-2007, 04:02 PM
By the way, if anyone is questioning the legitness of the number generator, we can have someone outside the league run it.. I doubt we have to come to that though.

bsaza2358
08-14-2007, 04:08 PM
I'm not doubting any of it. I just want off the #3 pick. I'm willing to swap my entire draft position with no additional compensation.

I'm totally fine with my pick. I'm just debating whether or not to stay in this league. I decided that I wanted to do a huge league at the last minute... and I don't want to be in 6 Leagues this year... 5 max is what I wanted... still debating...

One, this is football, and I owned you last year.

Two, I am a huge margin ahead of the 3rd place guy in that baseball league, so its not as if I am sucking it up there.

Three, I won that league last year.

Thank you to the people who have left lists when you knew you'd not be back for a long time.

Personally I think you guys are being babies. I am sure if everyone was aware beforehand that this was gonna be an offline draft this would be moving faster but until the last second this league was supposed to be a live draft. Its the weekend, people have lives, people are getting college stuff together, people are getting high school stuff together, and some people are enjoying being off work and enjoying the weekend. IMO just switch it back to a live draft to make the people complaining happy. Personally I do not care either way, this can drag out as long as it takes as long as its done before the season starts. Getting it done now or next week isnt really going to do much anyway. You people get bent out of shape way too easily.

The concern with doing the live draft was that not everyone would be there for it. I don't think anyone would have assumed we would be waiting entire days for one person to make their pick. Especially after the way Ghetto's league ran relatively smoothly doing it this way. We finished the whole thing in about a week and a half. Why should this one have been any different?

If you can manage to find a time where all 10 of us can attend a live draft, then more power to you, but considering the fact that we all work, go to school, and live in different time zones, that is quite near impossible.

It's inconsiderate to make others wait. No one has said that they have plans that would prevent them from making their picks until AFTER they hold up the draft. If you guys have stuff, can you just let us all know so we're not waiting for you? If you're going to be gone all day and you're not going to send in a list, just let the rest of us know so we aren't worried about checking in.

My problem with allowing the draft to go on (so long as we finish before the season starts) is that as each week goes on, conditions can change dramatically which makes it unfair on the picks that were already made because they were made under different circumstances. I prefer the draft to be done under the same conditions for everyone. Say someone drafted Travis Henry before yesterday and he got injured and would be out for a certain amount of time... then it simply makes it advantageous for who's ever up to draft, to take Henry's back up who now all of a sudden becomes the full time starter. Just an example. I don't know how badly Henry is injured... But you get the picture. The draft becomes skewed.

This all comes with fantasy football, maybe you should wait til the day before the season starts to do your drafts. I mean some people have done drafts months ago, they could have taken LT first overall and he gets injured and someone gets his backup off of waivers. Than they are screwed, so it really doesnt matter when you do drafts because if something like that occurs someones going to be screwed regardless. The only way to truly avoid situations like that is to do what I previously said, Draft the day before the season starts.

If you can manage to find a time where all 10 of us can attend a live draft, then more power to you, but considering the fact that we all work, go to school, and live in different time zones, that is quite near impossible.

And its just as impossible to get us all together at the same time to get an offline draft moving at a solid pace. Id much rather have a team autdrafted for me than to have to check NFLDC every 15 minutes over the course of a week or 2 weeks. There are times when people have things come up and they dont have time to email a big board to someone or even create a big board for that matter. I know this weekend alone I've had 3 things pop up where I had to cancel all my plans and be somewhere, when something like that comes up this site and this draft specifically do not cross my mind. So no matter what we do, offline or online draft there is going to be conflict, but the luxury of the online draft is there is a set time, either you make it or you cant, if you cant you create one big board and its done you dont have to worry about it again. With offline draft I have to worry about when my pick is how many rounds im going to miss who to send my board too etc... I just think if you guys are being sticklers about time just go with online draft.

I would have to agree with CCB...but realistically as long as the draft is done by regular season it doesn't matter.

I'm with CCB on this. It's a pain to check this thing every hour and having no idea when your pick is going to be. Because, unlike with a set draft time, you cannot plan your time. I could make sure I get off for a set draft time, or at least send in a big board if I couldn't attend. I cannot do that for every individual pick I have in this thing. For example; my last pick I wasn't sure when it would even get to me, so I couldn't call off my work or even set aside time to make a draft board to send to anybody.

That's one solution but not the only one. What is more reasonable is for the speed of this draft to pick up and for people to leave a list. You don't have to leave your list with someone in our league. Just leave it with someone outside of the league who you are comfortable with if you're coming up within the next 3-5 picks and you know you have somewhere else to be. At least that'll increase the odds of this speeding up. As long as it's complete within the next week or week and a half, that is ok with me. Dragging this on at the current rate is not something I want to be apart of.

Yeah I agree, the current pace blows but a lot of times with these drafts you will reach spans where you get picks in back to back to back. Maybe there should be some kind of limit on the picks, like if you dont make your pick within 2 hours you get Yahoo's highest rated player for a position of need.

LT is available in a trade . . . just so you know.

I would be looking for a very good RB, in addition to a upcoming draft pick.

I work 6 days this week 4pm-midnight central time. I am free on wednesday except from 6pm to 8pm central.

We could go with the old timelimit trip and award them bpa if they don't make i tin time.

Does this mean we won't get anything done today? http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/forum/images/icons/icon9.gif
