Its up to the person making the draft. At this stage so much is unkown at this point, declaring players, combine, free agency. Adding on trades makes it even harder. Although for last years playoffs it wouldn't matter when you did it, no one would have predicted any of the draft day trades

the cowboys would take Blaylock over Rice seeing as O-Line is a far bigger need than WR

i think that branch is the top guyon the niners board right now so if he is still on the board, he is the pick

isn't Baker staying?

5. Arizona Cardinals - Sam Baker - OT - USC
6. Washington Redskins - Leon Hall - CB - Michigan
13. St. Louis Rams - Alan Branch - DT - Michigan
20. New York Giants - Kenny Irons - RB - Auburn
23. Dallas Cowboys - Sidney Rice - WR - South Carolina

These are a couple of picks i have a problem with
1. Sam Baker is staying in college
2. no way leon hall goes to #6 imo because of the way he played in the later part of the season
3. I highly doubt branch falls that far- the farthest he drops is 9 to the phins because thomas also does not fall that far
4. No way the giants select irons that early- yes hb is a concern w/ tiki gone but 20th overall is too early- if we did want him we would trade down
5. Owens has no left the cowboys yet so i dont think WR is a big concern as Oline- try blalock there

1. We don't know that yet.
2. I agree, but I couldn't find anyone better to go there (also see #4)
3. if Baker enters, he goes above thomas with outstanding combine numbers and Thomas drops to 9 and Branch to 13. Just my thought.
4. No trades.
5. I agree, and will put that in my next mock.

28. New England Patriots - Adam Carriker - DE - Nebarska

DE is NOT a need. We have talent and we have depth on our D-Line. I guess the Pats would go LB/DE tweener or WR there depending on value.

Horrible pick for the Steelers. We will not take a corner in the first round. We just took Mcfadden and Ricardo in the 2nd round and gave Ike a 20 million dollar deal. Plus Madison and Townsend are still under contract. A first round corner would be nothing more than an overpaid dime back for us.

Try LB, interior OL or WR.

My pick here would be Blalock.

TERRIBLE GB pick. CB is not a first round need and we certainly don't need to reach for one. We need a nickel CB and won't need a starter for 3-4 years.

I don't mind the anderson pick and I wouldn't rule it out either, Rucker's aging and his cap figure is too heavy for his production (or therefore lack of).

Good Raiders pick, and trades...reasonable ones anyway...make mocks more interesting. If you're up for the "That trade sucks!" abuse, go for it.

Just make sure Oakland stays in the top 5 and gets top dollar for that pick. ;)

Why the Ravens will NOT draft Troy Smith (I think)-

1. The Ravens do not reach; Ozzie Newsome does not reach (Boller being the only exception). They almost invented BPA. There is a reason why Baltimore is the only team people have drafting Smith; he is not good value in the 1st.

2. Baltimore rarely drafts early QB's. Short history, I know, but there has been only 1. That's it. In all the years they've had QB trouble (96-05) they only took one.

3. The one QB they have drafted is still on the roster. True, he's been wildily incosistent, but he's shown undeniable improvement from year to year. He improved at the end of last year (before the Clev. disaster) and he acquitted himself reasonably well in two games this season. If management had no faith in him, there'd at least be another vet on the roster. There's a million excuses for why he failed, but instead of listing them, I will simply say that I believe he will be given another chance after sitting and learning under McNair for two or three years.

4. Finally Billick likes QB's with prototype size/skills. He likes big guys with a big arm. Hence the Boller reach in the first place. I don't think the Ravens have ever started a QB under 6'2" under Billick.

BTW, did you catch that performance last night? And yes I am a Ravens fan.

Awful, Awful, Awful Pick....Pitt won't go CB in RD1. They have too much invested in McFadden and Taylor. Levi Brown or Justin Blalock are the choices here

I like Rice there, but if Blalock is available take him. Or , some Cowboy fans may not agree but, I REALLY like Okoye as well. I would have to flip a coin on Okoye or Blylock. (coin flip) Okoye it is!! I dont know what it is, I just like him.

no not in that way :!:

Finally someone who agrees with me about Troy Smith. The Ravens wouldn't draft a QB in the first round and if I am going to speculate I believe they may trade the pick for more picks with the depth likely in this draft.

Not to burst your bubble though the Ravens due actually draft QB's. Along with Boller, there was Chris Redman and Derek Anderson who both were drafted by Baltimore.
