As those who have followed the site over the years know I always name my "Breakout Star" prior to the season and I just posted the latest pick in my blog. I have a pretty good run going with the past winners being Dwayne Jarrett, Chad Jackson and Jonathan Stewart.

Who's next?

Check it out:

Way to go out on a limb...

I don't feel like that is so obvious...

A 2nd or 3rd stringer who has never played a snap at the college level?

In my opinion, anyone who watched the Oklahoma spring game could see Murray is going to be a big time star. Regardless, though, that is a nice choice.

Jake Locker would've been a safer, smarter option. Many players would've been safer, smarter options. It feels as though you're going too far on a limb, if you know what I mean (I'm having trouble putting it into words).

agreed. Jake Locker will be a stud for the next 4 years

Locker did look good last night, although it was against Syracuse.

Still, he obviously deserved consideration. Illinois WR Arrelious Benn was also in the mix.

I think Scott Wright stole Doc Brown's Delorean.

DeMarco Murray has now thrown a TD pass in addition to running for 4 TDs

I think it won't/didn't come as much of a surprise for anyone that follows recruiting and college football as much as some people here do, myself included. But in the grand scheme of things, an overwhelming majority of the country had no idea who Murray was before this past weekend when he put up some real gaudy stats.

I've been telling a lot of my friends who don't follow college football quite as religiously as I do that Murray is going to really be something special, so I think it's a great pick. It's one that is already starting to pay dividends.

Its hard to break out when ur a Lineman, but after the senior bowl/combine
LT Chris Williams(6-6 320lbs) will be a first rounder

Not everyone who visits this site is a die-hard football fan. I'd bet 95% of the people on this site didn't watch the Oklahoma spring game. Also, I'd say a good 80% or more of the people who visit this site don't follow recruiting. So please, give Scott a break. This site isn't made for those 5% of overly hardcore college football fanatics. I don't see what is so obvious about a RS Freshman who had never taken a snap at the college level breaking out. Most people forget that this site is just as much directed towards the casual football fan as it is to the hardcore one.

Worrell Williams. Brother of De La Salle great, DJ Williams. He had a monster first game replaced Desmond Bishop. And he will get plenty of opportunities to make plays on a defense that will get lots of challenges.

Joe Mays LB NDSU

Chris can back me up on this one.

Jake Locker looked impressive, I will through out another name.
Joe McKnight looked really good for USC too.

Charles Godfrey the Iowa Cornerback. Was a special teams ace the first two years on the team, last year finally cracked the lineup and played just as well as the other BIG Ten Shut Down Corners. Hes 6'1 , 210 lbs. and supposibly runs a high 4.3. Against NIU last week( I know their nothing special), he was always around the tackle or making it. Ended up with 7 tackles (5 solo) , 2 INTs , and a Pass Deflection. Keep a Eye on him, I think with his combination of his athletic ability and hustle he can become something special.

Here's hoping Austin Scott, Anthony Morelli and Derrick Williams will breakout this year.

I'd like to bring up Terry Grant again.

173 yards, 2 TDs on 24 carries against SEC competition.

He hasn't played the BEST defenses yet... but he's a redshirt freshman and he's currently on pace for 1800+ yards and 30 TDs this season.

I see him running for 200 yards against Arkansas next week and hitting 1,200+ yards and 15 touchdowns by the end of the year. That's not breaking out?
