If Tashard Choice puts up even better numbers than he did last year (1473 yds, 12 TD's) and tests well at the combine, do you think he is worth a first round pick?

I think he's definately the top senior RB right now. It all depends on which juniors come out because I don't see more than 3 or 4 RBs going in the 1st round

He'd go after all of them so somewhere in the tail end of round 1. I could see the Bears bringing him in to give them the 2 back attack again.

He's Mr. Consistent. He's not one that will break the 80 yard run, but will get 4 yards per carry. Not the sexiest name, but a good one.

Theres too many good junior running backs and if they come out his stock will drop bigtime.

FSU D is crap

but as for Choice he is a good solid back but he doesn't have the talent that alot of others have

Run DMC
Jonathan Stewart
Steve Slaton
Ray Rice
James Davis
Mike Hart
P.J. Hill
Tashard Choice
Felix Jones
Allen Patrick

He will probally go 2nd or 3rd round, of course a team could fall in love with him and take him earlier

Rueben Droughns, he isn't explosive enough to be a featured NFL back and he won't put up combine numbers anywhere near a 1st round back. HE is just Mr. Steady

I forgot about him. There's probably a pretty good chance of him coming out with Spiller waiting to take his spot.

2nd round, jacksonville jaguars. will be behind jones-drew and fred taylor....until fred taylor retires in a few years....actually, taylor is a FA, so they may just let him go.

I e-mailed scott about him last year (during his like very long streak of 100+ yard games), and he said he was like a day 2 guy at best. I wonder if his opinion has changed.

the bears drafted garret wolfe in the 3rd round this past year so i dunno if they are gonna use another pick on a RB

Agreed, Definetly most complete back until the underclass flood comes in this weak class. I believe he will test well and be drafted similar to Addai (like Geo said), similar tool set.

Cmon now he is by no means a first rounder.

He can sneak into the late 1st round solely due to his being the top senior RB.

The NFL Draft is mostly about projection. That's why Chris Henry can go in the 2nd round. That is what will keep him from being a top-60 pick.

I don't see why he can't go in the 1st Round, even if it's just because of team need. McFadden is the only junior RB that is a lock to come out. James Davis is another junior RB that looks like he'll probably come out. If Steve Slaton and Jonathan Stewart stay in school for whatever reason, I don't think it is unreasonable for Choice to go in the 1st Round. He is clearly the top senior RB this year.

I'd agree with that. I'm a Choice fan myself, and I wouldn't be shocked to see him go late round 1, but I see him as more of a 2nd or 3rd round guy.

At home against the #13 Clemson Tigers, with his team 2-2 overall and 0-2 in the ACC Coastal, and having dealt with a strained hamstring injury that severely limited him the previous two games, the senior Choice delivers as follows:

32 carries for 145 yards (4.5 ypc) and a touchdown

Probably not, with his health history likely to be scrutinized and, well, he's a RB. Rb's after that top tier have a tendency to fall, and even the top tier RB's have a tendency to fall at time as well. That said, I'd never rule out anything, as all it takes is one team. But if he goes first, it's late first. I'd probably peg him as a mid-2nd - 3rd rounder right now, depending on which junior RB's come out.

There's no way Choice ends up in Round 1. Don't believe it.

Geo
09-30-2007, 01:22 AM
The likelihood of Choice rising into the first round would depend on:

(1) At least one prime junior back to not declare, if not two. If James Davis and/or Felix Jones declare, that can all but eliminate Choice's chances to sneak in.

(2) Some impressive pre-draft measurables by Choice to supplement his production on the field. 1st round measurables, basically. If I had to guess, Choice falls just a bit short, but who knows. Addai and Maurice Drew delivered at the 2006 Combine as they delivered on the field, which helped their stock. It could even be a deceptive time thanks to great preparation, ala Jason Hill running a timed sub-4.4 40 time but never running that on the field.

(3) Enough teams in the 1st round, or possibly willing to trade into it, who want a runningback. Which I'm not sure will be the case, but we'll see I guess. Probably depends on who is available where.

I don't have Choice pegged as a borderline 1st round pick ... later on in Day One, the 2nd round, sounds much more likely given the juniors who will likely declare.

Versus the Miami Hurricanes defense on the road, Tashard Choice delivers:

37 carries for 204 yards, 5.5 average, and a long of 54 yards.

He was great today, showing great vision, patience, and hard-running.
