Clemson should be on that list... Don't know why they didnt get the nod over GTech, Hawaii, Tennesse, heck even Boise State and TCU.

Clemson beat Florida State and was actually a ranked team. How are they not ranked at all int eh USA Today poll?

I guess the voters realized that FSU was majorly overrated. I don't understand how they got ranked to begin with.

Agreed there. No one should really be jumping anyone unless a team ahead of them lost or a team right behind you beat a very good opponent. Any ranked team that beat up on a scrub should not be jumping another ranked team that beat up on a scrub.

Not when you factor in HFA. But yeah, I'm pretty pissed about this. I've been looking forward to this game for years now. It's still a gigantic game from our perspective, because we know how tough you guys really are. But now the general public likely won't give us much credit if we manage to pull out the win. And we look like dumptrucks if we lose. This is a more difficult matchup than more than half the other top 25 teams would be, imo. Yet there will be no acknowledgment of us having played a ranked team.

your right, thats probably how it will be assessed right now, but maybe at the end of the season when things are in perspective they might change...depends on how they end the season, but if you guys do win, it wont give you the jump in the polls that it would if they were still ranked 5th which has gotta suck...

I doubt it is due just to them beating a less talented UNT team, you got to factor in how sloppy Texas looked.

When's the last time a team dropped from #5 to NR? A: never.
Me? I'm just waiting for those other 10 teams to lose so #11 can jump to #1 again. This weekend= USC gets upset in Lincoln and Va Tech gets murdered by LSU. Oklahoma and Florida are way too high. West Virginia is not the 3rd best team in America....they might have the easiest schedule of the ten best teams but they are not the 3rd best.

Okay, okay, this isn't the first time a top 5 team fell to NR in a week, but that was back in 1968 before I was born, so it might be fake. Everything that happened before I was born could be a hoax set up by a conspiracy of the media and the rest of the world, prove me wrong!

Kirk Turdstreet ranked Michigan as #10 in his poll with Wisconsin trailing at #11.

- UW has beaten his alma mater, OSU, 3 straight at Columbus.
- Supposedly he had a bad experience in a Madison establishment and Badger fans were rude to his kids.
- Gameday has refused to come to Madison since their last trip because of rowdy fans.

Badger fans have been saying he's biased against Wisconsin for years and I think this ranking proves the claim.

Be professional you douchebag.

He also said he thought Wisconsin was the team to beat in the big ten on SC a couple months ago. Then when it was time to make his "official" prediction, he picked Penn State, and had Michigan ranked ahead of the Badgers as well.

Here's the poll he was referring to I believe: http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/files/specials/collegefootball_front/votes/10041.html?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME

It's possible it's not updated and the poster misinterpreted it as being current.

I still think it's pretty telling that both Herbstreit and Fowler have Wisconsin ranked #11, which is the lowest ranking I saw from perusing several polls.

On principle, Michigan doesn’t deserve a spot in the top 25. Heck, they don’t even deserve a spot in the “Others receiving votes” category. Any team that is accorded the respect that comes with landing a spot in the preseason top 5 spot of both major polls, and then proceeds to lose their first game to a 1-AA team, should, in theory, be summarily booted from the ranks of college football’s elite.

In reality, however, can you really say this team isn't one of the 25 best in the country?

Am I the only one who sees a huge turnaround coming here? This team is immensely, immensely talented on the offensive side of the ball, and they're not going to face an attack like Appy State's for the rest of the year. Excusing the Wolverines for their defensive woes last Saturday isn’t a legitimate argument, but realizing the context of their defensive troubles can at least provide a little justification for not being so tough on them.

If you think that Michigan football isn’t having their best week of practice
of the year this week, you’re a fool. Lloyd Carr might not be the most incendiary or energetic coach around, but you can bet he’s conveying the urgency of the program’s (and his, for that matter) situation to his players. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize how motivated this team is going to be come Saturday when they take the field to play Oregon. They’ll not only be playing to begin the process of re-establishing themselves as one of college football top programs, they’ll be playing for their coach’s reputation. The disgust the players have towards those who are over-criticizing Carr was readily apparent in their post-game press conferences. Jake Long had to work to contain his emotions when a reporter asked a question about Carr’s job security.

Call me crazy, but I see one of the bigger turnarounds in CF history in the making. Rose Bowl? I wouldn't rule it out. This certainly sounds like crazy talk, I'm sure, but at the very least, this team is going to have a pretty strong season. That much I can almost guarantee.

I agree but these rankings are really all fantasy at this point anyways. All teams are being still judged on last year much more than what they will do this season.
