Can someone rank the top free agents available in 2008 by position? Or put up a link that shows them (besides footballsfuture.com). Thanks.

I won't include Grossman because if he sucks nobody will want him and if he's good the Bears will resign him.

Pretty sure Julius Peppers too.

Nobody of major importance on the Redskins, we just locked up Cooley.

No way they would let Peppers hit the market

Corey Williams from Green Bay isn't locked up and I can guarantee he'll get quite a bit of interest

His contract runs through 08, so it not only has no chance, but it isn't possible.

Peppers will be resigned before his contract is up though.

keep dreaming, the Ravens will re-sign him during the season or after & he LOVES playing for a defense that gives him a huge chance to shine and get to the QB.

Nnamdi Asomugha will become available if we don't resign him to a contract during the season, even if they didn't he's getting the franchise tag before he walks.

Pat Williams is the only player on the Vikings I can think of. I think Mewelde Moore may be, too.

Gibril Wilson and Chris Snee of the top of my head.

Is Chris Snee really a free agent? NFLPA says his contract runs through 2009 so the only way he could be a free agent is if he is somehow able to void the final two years.

Albert Haynesworth.

With extensions and franchise tags at play, naturally the pool will be a lot thinner when FA opens, but even so right now it's looking a little stronger than these past few years.

Bob Sanders
Dallas Clark
I believe Ben Utecht

All of those guys, off the top of my head, are FAs as well as Jake Scott / Ryan Lilja.

Franchise Sanders or Clark? Those as some major pieces to your team.

Both Safety and TE are underpaid positions so the Colts shouldn't have a problem keeping both of them.

The biggest name on the Chiefs is DE Jared Allen.

Bob Sanders will be franchised, if a long-term deal isn't reached - and word was/is that Colts' owner Jim Irsay wants to sign Sanders long-term now that Freeney is locked up. How healthy Sanders is for 2007 will be a factor to consider. Also, the cost of the franchise tag designation for the safety position isn't as pricey as some other positions, although maybe it will jump with Laron Landry's contract (I'm not sure).

Dallas Clark, I honestly think there's a good chance he'll leave. Seriously, look at the deals that Dan Graham and Chris Cooley have received in the last 4 months, Clark can get that and more on the open market and who could blame him. Especially when he takes some hard hits.

Really? Cool. Vikes fans can look forward to the Williams duo manning the inside for the next three years.

Yeah it would make sense financially to let Clark walk. Peyton has the weapons already and you still have the draft.

The Colts did draft Anthony Gonzalez and Roy Hall (is a beast) in the 2007 Draft, it does look like the team could be preparing for Clark's impending departure. Or at least, the scenario where Clark can't play, as the team struggled some without Clark last year.

I would kinda like to see what Clark could do for a team with less weapons so he could get the ball more.

i'm pretty sure he'd get plenty of opportunities to rush the passer as an OLB in the Jets system....

i don't see this happening, but mn would it get me excited if it did

The Clark situation confuses me somewhat, i mean if he's signed long-term its going to cost big dollars and we cant really afford big money going to another offensive skill position. But, in saying this he is so ridiculously important to this team as evidenced by the playoffs last year.

Bob also scares me a bit to sign to a long-term contract. He is the inspirational leader of the defence and one of the best safeties in the league, but he's also an undersized, injury-prone player with a fearless attitude that isn't realy conducive to a long career. This offseason Polian and co are really going to be earning their money cause i really can't see clear cut answers to either player
