Pretty good list IMO, especially for SI.

lol, can't say that I agree.

Some are guys that have already emerged, though not stars, necessarily. Some are good examples of breakout stars in waiting. Others are, literally, Just A Guy that they seemingly picked out at random. Odom, Berrian, Cooper? That is pretty weak. Not that those guys won't be good players, but I promise you right now that they will never be stars or anything close.

How would Berrian be a breakout star?

Awful list....

Most of them are already really good players.

How would Berrian be a breakout star?

if he has over 1000 yards receiving and 10+ tds I would consider that a breakout year...considering he is our #1 WR threat and last year was a good year, but not really a "break out" year...but it will never happen with our O

I don't get this list. Most of these guys are already very good players, so there not breakouts, but there also not likely to turn into stars (near pro bowl status).

who is on the list, can't see it at work.

You guys, these articles are written for people who aren't completely obsessed with football. The average fan probably hasn't even heard of half of those players.

They're all good players but I suppose SI expects them to take it to the next level and become pro bowlers and more household names.

Exactly. If the average fan has heard of them it is because they are on their respective favorite team. They don't make these lists to appease the die hard NFL/Draft/Fantasy fan.

Yeah, he just missed the cut. Carson Palmer too. People don't know about him yet. Oh, and Champ Bailey too. I think he really makes a name for himself this year.

Uhhh... no. Ruud has the job, and Trotter was brought in as the backup.

i hope odom breaks out and gets double-digit sacks. that would greatly improve our overall D.

I was actually thinking Berrian should be on that list, glad to see he is. In terms of really breaking out though, I think Mark Anderson is going to really burst out next year. He might already be the 3rd best player on our defense behind Urlacher and Harris.

thats exactly what all of these S.I things are... they dont expect the people who read this to know a hell of a lot and have their own oppinions.. kind of to show people who know nothing or very very little what to look for

Any breakout star list that doesn't have Haloti Ngata on it is null and void!

Wasn't Wimbley rated one of (if not the top) OLB in run stropping percentage? I know I heard something like that.

Brett Favre is ready to establish himself as an elite NFL QB in 2007. Prepare for a breakout season with over 25 TD passes and 4000 yds.

I'm willing to bet the majority of SI readers don't pay attention to football metrics.
