Discuss Week 3 of the college football season

First I want to bring forward a story I am not sure if people are aware of. This weekends game between Miami and Florida International will be the first time Kenny Phillips has played against his younger brother Jarvis Wilson in a game. Jarvis is a 6'2" 195 lb freshman linebacker for FIU

Rutgers has a better defense than Michigan and Appalachian State is four times the team that Norfolk State is. I wouldn't worry.

and i know, RU should win, but if they lose, it'll be because i'm not wearing my Ray Rice jersey with Leonard shirt underneath. last time i didnt wear the combo- last season, @WVA. i wonder if i can get my coach to changer our jerseys? :D

This is a terrible weak of college football. It's basically OSU-Washington, and I think there are a few SEC games, and that's about it.

Oh and USC-Nebraska...but for some reason I can't bring myself to giving a damn about that game.

Usually the week before most teams start conference play is the worst because teams don't wanting to be on a losing streak (even 1 game) entering into the part of college football season that matters the most.

West Virginia-Maryland should be good. For some reason I picture West Virginia having troubles in Byrd Stadium

USC-Nebraska will be a great game. A lot of offense and a battle of two solid senior QBs

Notre Dame-Michigan will be entertaining to watch because the loser will have no chance of salvaging their season.

I'm very interested in the Florida State-Colorado game as well

Dan Hawkins' kid is the real deal. His WRs dropped two TD passes and nearly a half dozen others. If this kid had somewhat decent talent around him he would be on more people's radars right now. I seriously believe that he has a shot to play in the pros.

we had 3 redzone turnovers, 2 missed field goals, awful play calling, we gave up tons of rushing yards. We dominated everything in this game and yet we lost some how. I honestly dont understand this. I have to be in shock right now because seriously i really dont believe that just happened. Anyway we werent going to make a BCS bowl but i wanted a conference title.

Wow. So much for TCU being a dominant team this year.

last week took a lot out of our players, they preped for that game all summer and it happens to TCU every year, after a big game like that the next week there is always a fall off. 3 years in a row this has happened.

OU---> SMU
Tech---> Utah
Texas----> Air Force

i think since everyone was dissappointed with the second half meltdown in Austin they just stopped caring and it was perfect timing for Air Force.

Here's my upset special...

Ohio over Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. Am I crazy? No... Virginia Tech has shown me two things in two games that lead me to believe it's feasible: #1, They've had trouble running the ball, and #2, they've had trouble stopping the run. The latter especially plays into Ohio's favor: Kalvin McRae, if you don't know the kid's name, learn it. I saw him up close and personal last Saturday against my Cajuns, as he scored 4 touchdowns, 3 of which came in the second half to overcome a 10-20 halftime deficit and win the game for Ohio. McRae is legit, and the Hokies will not be able to stop him. Frank Solich is a very good coach and he's built Ohio up into a good program that should win the MAC this year. Tech is still reeling from the LSU slaughter, they're starting a true freshman at QB, and they haven't been able to run the ball. Ohio will control the clock by pounding it with McRae, and win or lose, it WILL be a close game. The 20.5 point spread is ridiculous.

I could also definitely see Washington edge tOSU or Kentucky edge Louisville. Alabama is favored and I see Arkansas winning, but I don't know how much of an "upset" that would be. I think the biggest one this week will be Ohio going in to Blacksburg and getting the W. You heard it here first, folks.

Arkansas winning wouldn't be an upset at all. They're ranked in the top 20 and Alabama isn't in the top 25.

I wouldn't be shocked if Arkansas beat them pretty handily. Alabama is pretty bad against the run and thats basically what Arkansas does.

I'll be relieved when Wisconsin can finally get beyond these gimmicky spread option QB's with mobile QB's. They're all copying Vince Young and Texas circa 2005 and we're ill prepared. It will be interesting to see how the Badgers fare against traditional offenses. It's not just the Big Ten, didn't Oklahoma State get demolished by a spread option?

No Ikegwuounu, so I'm definitely a little worried. I'll be satisfied if the Badgers can just survive.

Defense has given up -4 yards this second half, so I guess that means they've taken 4 yards away rather than given them up.

The Badgers left about 11 points on the field and aren't West Virginia like at running up the score. Because of the latter we won't get the reprieve they did, which isn't fair, IMO.

Im_a_Romosexual

Temple was down 22-17 and were at the 10 or 15 yard line with about 40 seconds left. It was 4th down and Temple ran a reverse and had the WR throw into the endzone. The ball was tipped and it appeared that the guy caught the ball and got one foot in, but the ref called it incomplete. The booth challenged, but the ref totally blew the call. So Uconn won the game.

Exciting Michigan State / Pitt game at the end. Unfortunately, both teams looked awful for the most part in my opinion (despite the performance of LeSean McCoy and Jonal Saint-Dic). Pitt shouldn't have even been in that game and they almost pulled it out. If they had played Bill Stull (who was injured) or Pat Bostick, I think they would've won.
