If the Heisman Trophy actually went to the best player in college football, not the best QB/RB on a national championship contender, who would you be voting for right now?

My ballot.

1. Jake Long, OT, Michigan
2. Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU
3. Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas

Even if it didnt have to go to a skill position player I'd still give it to Mike Hart, he has impressed me far more than any other running back in the country. My list would look something like this.

1. Mike Hart
2. Glenn Dorsey
3. Jake Long
4. Darren McFadden
5. Aqib Talib

Glenn Dorsey, he's a beast and totally effects all the players around him with his fire and intensity. Long is up there too, he's a human monster.

I was gonna make mine top 5 and have Hart on it, but didn't want to be have 2 Michigan players on it and be called a homer ;)

I freely admit to being a homer. However, I truly believe that Hart deserves to be mentioned in that group. The only reason he's not mentioned as a sure top 10 pick is his lack of measurables IMO. Hell, I think he could be the same size but a burner, or the same speed but bigger, and he'd be a sure first rounder.

1-D-Mac
2-Jake Long
3-Mike Hart
4-Glenn Dorsey
5-Colt Brennan

Hart and Long have carried that offense, put Mallet in Notre Dame and he'd be as bad as Clausen and vice versa

Its a shame that the Texans don't have a 2nd round pick because Mike Hart would be a perfect fit for their ZBS

True. But history has a way of repeating itself. In this (http://www.heisman.com/winners/hsmn-winners.html#winners-year) case, over and over and over....again.

Well yeah, that's why someone made this thread. He said it has to though, which it doesn't.

mike hart takes so much punishment, I don't know how he'll last. He's basically larry johnson. (collegiate version)

i mean he had 44 attempts against penn state.

Of course it doesn't. Yet, somehow it does. It's quite the paradox.

Yes, but Mike doesn't get 44 every game. It was Mallett's first game against a D-1 team ;) and they had a sick D, so you have to go with your stud senior RB instead of your highly hyped freshman QB in that game.

Have you heard the latest on Notre Dame's potential entry into D1? Last I heard they were probably going to be denied for having too big a surplus of suck and exhibiting an unwillingness to join an established conference.

A lot of people will probabally disagree but...

1. Glen Dorsey
2. Aqib Talib (Leads team in pass break ups and recieving TD's)
3. Darren McFadden
4. Desean Jackson
5a. Pat White
5b. Quentin Groves

To me though, that's actually a bit of a misconception. Hart does run very hard, and he usually gets a fairly decent amount of carries. But if you watch, he really doesn't take many big shots. He's always moving just enough that he never really gets hit solidly. I know I saw a quote from him somewhere in which he aknowledged his small stature and said that's why he tries to avoid taking big shots. Not that he tries to avoid contact by any means, just that he angles just enough so that he never really seems to take the full brunt of a hit.

You just wait till Charlie gets his guys! Watch this baby....Demetrius Jones to Konrad Reuland all day! Oh wait.... ND might even have positive yardage in a game! And they might even go less than 3 games without an offensive TD ;)

Yeah coming from a Vandy fan, I'll live. Don't know why you hate Michigan when you're a Vandy fan, but whatever floats your boat.
