Games from today until Sunday. Craziness.

Kentucky/USC is a huge match up Thursday night. I think Kentucky wins it fairly convincingly.

Red River Shootout too, unless the loss to K State woke up a monster I think OU takes it easily.

If Maurice Purify even plays. His status for the game is up in the air after his longtime girlfriend died yesterday from injuries she suffered in a car crash Saturday.

I'm gonna be surprised in Mo plays, honestly. In the past two months he has went through legal problems, his brother being shot and killed in a carjacking and now the death of his girlfriend. Really sad for that boy. :(

Wow thats really rough. Not much else you can say to that. Really, you can only hope that the kid can find refuge on the football field from the bad things that are going on around him. Having some distractions, like a commitment to a football team, at times like these can really help people going through difficult times, just a way to get your mind off your problems for awhile and clear your head. Having team mates to rally around him can be a positive thing as well.

I'm an SC fan but, I have to disagree. I love our RBs in this game against Kentucky's shotty run defense. Woodson vs. our secondary is going to be very interesting, though. We have the # 1 pass defense in the nation, Captain and Carlos Thomas have been fantastic this year. I favor SC in this one.

Michigan

I'll take USC by 10+ over Kentucky. Their pass defense is FAR better than anything Kentucky has faced so far. As M.O.T.H. alraedy mentioned, I expect USC to run the ball all day against Kentucky. 30-17

I love Woodson though. He reminds me of VY in the intangibles category. You never know with him.

Rafael Little is going to be the key to the Carolina/Kentucky game, I think. USC has a good secondary, but they've had some trouble stopping the run. And for all we know, the run defense inflates the ranking of the pass defense because everyone runs on them.

Its definitely an interesting matchup. I think it'll come down to the 4th, and I'm not ready to take a pick yet, haha.

I don't really think so, I'm a big UK fan but our other running backs (Tony Dixon and Alfonso Smith) and even our 4th stringer Derrick Locke who is a track star has come in and earned PT as a very explosive running back. I expect Kentucky to win this game due to some defensive plays and their very balanced offense. Even if Andre' Woodson is unable to throw the ball well(is this even possible?) we should be able to run it up their throats.

Well obviously it is going to be Little who will get the most carries.

Kentucky might beat Carolina, but it won't be a blowout win, especially in Columbia. Our pass defense here at USC is too good and the rushing offense is very adequate, which happens to be UK's HUGE weakness. I think the Wildcats win via Little running the ball on an outmanned SC rushing defense and an efficient game from Woodson though.

It's sad because here in South Carolina, we know which one we're talking about when we say USC or Carolina....but in any other state if you say USC they think you're talking about Southern Cal, and if you say Carolina, they think you mean the Tarheels.

But to say South Carolina or Theuniversityofsouthcarolina is too much to say if you're gonna repeat it that much so we're in a pickle. Talking to friends, neighbors I just say USC or Carolina or the Gamecocks. On message boards I gotta type the whole friggin' thing out

Anyone else think Colorado has a shot at the vulnerable Big 12 North?

After watching Cody Hawkins play against Arizona State I knew he was the real deal, but I was also very much impressed with him against a very good Oklahoma secondary. I think he has a shot at Big 12 Freshman of the Year.

Just really talking could of's here but, just think how good South Carolina could have been last year if... Kenny Irons didnt tranfer, Troy Williamson didnt declare early, Sidney Rice didnt declare early, Jonathan Joseph didnt declare early, Ko Simpson didnt declare early, and Fred Bennett was still eligible.

Irons and Boyd in the backfield.

Williamson and Rice starting at the reciever positions.

Joseph, Ko, and Freddie in the secondary.

Yeah, it would be nice if our top talent would actually stay to see their senior seasons and in Rice and Ko's cases, their Junior seasons.

I still think Kentucky gets the W.

It could really go either way but, looking at this game from the outside...I'd favor South Carolina. I love the matchups. Boyd and Davis should have no problem against Kentucky's sub par rush defense and I'm not a fan of Kentucky's secondary. Brohm made them look silly, granted it was Brohm but, it wasnt pretty. SC has the #1 ranked pass defense in the nation and CB, Captain Munnerlyn is emerging as a shut down guy. Will be a major test for Woodson. Then you have Spurrier...holds a grudge against Kentucky for firing him and has a career 14-0 record against them.

I've seen him tons of times. He hasnt looked too sharp at all tonight and he hasnt seen any pass rush this year. It's def. throwing him off his game. He hasnt been his usual self. Obviously, if this was the normal Woodson, he would have had a lot more than 9 picks in the last two seasons...because, his decision making has been awful tonight.

I admit that I haven't seen Woodson play before, but that still doesn't mean I'm making up stuff. He's been very bad this game. If I can only go on what I see, this is definitely a poor showing.

Tell if I'm wrong if I'm judging him by this game:

Pros:
1) Great size.
2) Nice spiral and decent power on his throws.
3) Plays in a good system.

Cons:
1) He has poor escapability in the pocket.
2) He makes questionable decisions throwing in heavy coverage.
3) Accuracy is hit or miss.
4) Has trouble playing under pressure.

If I'm wrong on those or if you wanna add some, I'm more than willing to listen.

I didn't like that on 3rd and goal in the first quarter, he threw to his receiver well short of the goalline. In that situation, I like when QBs go for it near or in the endzone. His receiver never even had a chance to get there even if he had caught the ball.

When talking about Woodson...decision making is usually a non-issue. It's actually one of his biggest strengths but, tonight...eeeek. I figure, perhaps he's not used to seeing that pass rush this season and it has reall thrown him off. He's also the leader of an unbeaten team in a huge game...he may be trying to do too much. Trying to force one in here or there. He's much better than this.

Its amazing just how bad Louisville's run defense is. They are going to get smoked in conference play. The thing is, as bad as the team is, Brian Brohm looks very good and his draft stock really shouldn't take too much of a hit. It should be painfully obvious to scouts that the team's poor record has 110% to do with the defense

A good game to put money on this weekend is Boston College vs. Bowling Green. Bowling Green's only lost this year is to a much improved Michigan State team and they look to most likely be the team to beat in the MAC. The line is BC -20, so I definitely feel that BG could beat the spread.

Problem is, you look at BGSU's strength and it's the spread passing attack and then you look at BC's strength on defense and it's their pass defense.

Probably not a good idea to base your picks on who a team has lost to. Who have they beaten? BC is far superior to Minnesota. Not sure I'd bank on the Falcons winning the turnover battle in Chestnut Hill, which is what it took to beat the Gophers and is what it will likely take to keep it somewhat close against BC. Trust me, you put money on this game and you'll be hoping for a garbage score late in the 4th to cover. BC is the real deal and BG's passing game isn't what the stats would lead you to believe. Eagles will roll in this one. They may only win by 17, but that is no more likely than them winning by 23, imo. This appears to be more of a coin toss than a lock.

well by shut down I meant contain...and you over estimate Illinois' passing game...sure they have regis benn, but juice is still their qb

Juice isnt doing to bad this season at all. He has limited his mistakes and plays a lot smarter than last year. Today he has gotten a little lucky and overthrew a couple of WRs but I think he be efficient against tOSU.

BTW anyone know who Illinos O Coordinator is I like what hes been doing.
