I remember Eugene Jarvis from H.S. He is from Pittsburgh and so am I. I never saw him in person, but I saw a ton of highlights of him on the news. He's tiny, only around 5-6, and went to the same high school as Dan Marino and Marc Bulger (Central Catholic). His size kept him from being a big time recruit. If memory serves me correctly he rushed for nearly 2,000 yards as a senior.

Too bad he'll be burnt out before he ever plays a game in the NFL. I would never draft a RB day 1 with that much mileage.

UCF had a bye week that week

But McFadden and Forte are quite a ways behind Mike Hart. Smith is only 116.

Mike Hart is a beast.

Mike Hart is rather excellent. His numbers have been really good on a consistent basis too. Even in the two good teams they've played (PSU and Oregon, meh PSU is "okay") he had over 100 yards.

As impressive as that is, he still only has 60 carries.

He has to split with DMac

I'm aware. It's not his fault, but for me to be impressed with 10 ypc as great as it is I want to see a few more carries. Still an excellent back though.

I don't know if I agree with that. Marcus Allen holds the single season rushing attempts record with 403, and the 2 year record with 757. At his current pace, Hart won't pass either mark. Herschel Walker holds the 3 year mark with 994. I'd think you wouldn't have minded having either guy on your team. I do agree he has alot of carries though.

look at Cedric Benson he had over 1,000 carries at UT and he seemed burnt in the beginning of his carrer and now still isnt looking too great and mike hart is tiny so i dont think he stands a chance

Mike Hart is just amazing.

James Starks made the list (86, but who cares)! I don't care if he probably has the lowest ypc on the list (3.3). He also has 7 TDs.

ESPN's nifty projected statistics for the top 5 runningbacks.

Mike Hart - 1952 yards, 20 TD
Kevin Smith - 2064 yards, 26 TD
Eugene Jarvis - 1702 yards, 20 TD
Darren McFadden - 1807 yards, 17 TD
Rashard Mendenhall - 1544 yards, 24 TD

Kevin Smith for Heisman?

you're right, 5 games into his first year as a full time starter we should write him off as "burnt off"...I mean, I'm pissed he hasn't performed so far, but seriously, let's just write off players not even half way through their first full year...and then let's look at Marcus Allen and Herschel Walker and then decide that Benson is worn out after 1/4 of a season...good call
