Needs a thread dedicated to him. He has been a complete monster this year. He looks like he's in better shape and has more stamina. Through the first few games of this season he's been one of the most disruptive DL in the league. That play on the 1 yard line yesterday where he jumped over the OL and grabbed Lefty as he was pitching the ball was HUGE. Just a badass play.

We need to get him an extension now. He is still only 26 years old and is in the prime of his career. Without him, KVB is less effective, our LBs are less effective, and our whole defense isn't what it is to this point.

Our defensive personnel hasn't improved significatly, yet our defense is near dominant. And the only thing that explains this is how Haynesworth is dominating offensive lines while being double blocked. We better resign him, and his play so far is warranting it big time.

you guys better hurry up and get him signed, the more him dominates the more he will get.

Is he still unsigned after this year?

Currently, Big Al is a free agent at the end of this season. I he hits the free agent market, he may be made one of the highest paid D-Linemen in the league.

i say we franchise him. i dont think its a coincidence that hes playing lights out for a new contract.

I too would be worried about him sustaining the level of play he's exhibited once he gets paid.

I hope the Jets try and get him. He'd be great for our D along side Robertson (that is if we switch to the 4-3)

Haynesworth has character and injury concerns, and has been known to take plays off. Not every team will be rushing to sign him right away, but due to his talent, 3 or so teams will look past his faults.

Cashmoneydrew is right. Haynesworth's level of play is likely attributed to greed. Nevertheless, I want to keep him a Titan.

I'd break the bank on him and not look back.

I'm thinking maybe an incentive laden contract with some character clauses?

i just feel like the franchise tag is the way to go. everyone has always talked about haynesworths potential and he only starts living up to it the year he's about to get paid. i just think it makes too much sense that he's probably only realising his potential this year so he can get paid. give him the franchise tag and he has to play for another contract again next year too. not to mention he's a health risk. seems like the guy gets hurt in every game.

What would be the salary for a franchise tagged DT?

The thing with Big Al is he is only 26 and when you think about it, a 26 year old DT who probably still hasnt peaked and has many years under his belt, who is the MAIN reason for the titans incredible D this year...man we should sign him and not look back

The bengals sure need a big time DT, and we don't care about character issues obviously :)

How does your guys cap space look this year?

our cap space is incredible so youre probably gonna have to settle for randy starks ;)

whats the deal with haynesworth's contract? are there any negotiations going on at this point? cause we really need to have him signed

Im sure theyve started, but its gonna be such a large contract it'll take some time. even if we cant resign him we can always franchise him, so im not too worried about it right now.

Negotiations have already started. They practically began when "0:00" hit the clock in San Diego. But, there's just been no progress. As CMD said, it's a tricky contract to create. Haynesworth has baggage, injury problems, work-ethic issues, and will want a gaudy contract. It'll take a while.

We have the Franchise Tag to use, so if worse comes to worst, we can always tag him.

he will be with us next year no matter what

Yeah i wasnt worried about fat-al going anywhere, especially when the media asked fisher about a month ago about albert being in the last year of his contract and fisher laughed and said "hes not going anywhere"

Do you guys know of the FA DT's for this offseason? Id really like for us to upgrade the spot next to Fat Al, and make downtown tony brown more of a rotational player. I think it would really help our defense, and make us less of a liability against the run on the downs where haynesworth has to catch a blow or recover from an injury. Ive heard Shaun Rogers and Marcus Stroud might be on the trading block, but im not sure they have the work ethic.

Yeah...I've heard that Shaun Rodgers might be available for the right price. But here are some other FA DTs that I think are available...

1. Pat Williams, VIKINGS
2. Corey Williams, PACKERS
3. Tommy Kelly, RAIDERS
4. Ryan Bingham, CHARGERS (RFA)
5. Ian Scott, BEARS
6. Jovan Haye, BUCS (RFA)
7. Isaac Sopoaga, 49ERS
8. Brian Young, SAINTS
9. Travis Kirschke, STEELERS
10. Ryan Sims, BUCS

To me, the only great DTs available this offseason (other than Haynesworth) are Pat Williams & Corey Williams. However, they'll both likely be re-signed by their current teams. Tommy Kelly could be good, but he's coming back from a pretty significant injury, I think. Personally, I'd be happy bringing in either Bingham, Scott, or Haye to start alongside Haynesworth.

Haye would be a good addition. I can't believe he's a DT now. I remember when he came into the leaugue he was an undersized DE.

Yeah...that's what I thought too. But I double-checked the depth chart and he actually is starting at DT for the Bucs right now, with Gaines Adams & Kevin Carter lining up at DE. Haye's only about 6'2, 285 lbs., which seems small. But that's about the same size as Tony Brown, so...whatever...

Haye did play at Vandy, but alot will depend on what the Bucs tender him since he's a RFA.

Ha I really like Frank Okam too. I wouldnt mind if we got Pat Sims as well. Only saw him in a couple of games this year, but he seemed to be a man beast.
