1 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/MIA/MIA_logo-50x50.gif Jake Long, OT, Michigan
Improvision on the offensive line is critical.
2 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/STL/STL_logo-50x50.gif Derrick Harvey, DE, Florida
I'm very high on Harvey. Remember, Carriker was drafted last year to improve the inside, not end.
3 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/DAL/DAL_logo-50x50.gif Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas
Julius Jones should be testing the free agent market, leaving only Barber who cannot handle the load single-handedly.
4 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/BUF/BUF_logo-50x50.gif Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU
Again, defensive tackle needs upgrades. John McCargo is looking a bit dissapointing.
5 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/ATL/ATL_logo-50x50.gif Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville
Brohm may not be the best quarterback, but is re-united with his former coach.
6 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/MIN/MIN_logo-50x50.gif Malcolm Kelly, WR, Oklahoma
I'm very high on Kelly, and not because I'm a Sooners fan.
7 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/NO/NO_logo-50x50.gif Kenny Phillips, S, Miami
The secondary is a mess.
8 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/NYJ/NYJ_logo-50x50.gif Calais Campbell, DE, Miami
A nice fit in their 3-4 defense.
9 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/OAK/OAK_logo-50x50.gif Sam Baker, OT, USC
Offensive line help is critical.
10 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/ARI/ARI_logo-50x50.gif Malcolm Jenkins, CB, Ohio St.
Roderick Hood is their best cover corner right now.
11 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/PHI/PHI_logo-50x50.gif Chris Long, DE, Virginia
An aging position, and no OT is worthy of this pick.
12 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/HOU/HOU_logo-50x50.gif Jonathan Stewart, RB, Oregon
Ahman Green is decent at best, but will not be around for much longer.
13 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/KC/KC_logo-50x50.gif Andre Woodson, QB, Kentucky
Huard is not a starter in the league much longer.
14 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/DET/DET_logo-50x50.gif Reggie Smith, DB, Oklahoma
Lacks depth and talent.
15 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/JAC/JAC_logo-50x50.gif Justin King, CB, Penn St.
Secondary depth is needed.
16 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/NE/NE_logo-50x50.gif James Laurinitis, LB, Ohio St.
Bruschi could be done after this year.
17 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/WAS/WAS_logo-50x50.gif Quentin Groves, DE, Auburn
Groves is the second best pass rusher to Harvey, and is exactly what they need despite being a tad bit undersized.
18 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/NYG/NYG_logo-50x50.gif DeSean Jackson, WR, Cal
Could be a great combo with Burress.
19 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/CIN/CIN_logo-50x50.gif Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC
A talented DT is needed.
20 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/CAR/CAR_logo-50x50.gif Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College
Delhomme is on the downslide of a good career, and Carr is awful.
21 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/DEN/DEN_logo-50x50.gif Early Doucet, WR, LSU
Marshall is talented, as is a healthy Walker, but depth is needed.
22 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/CHI/CHI_logo-50x50.gif Harry Douglas, WR, Louisville
Maybe they go Brennan here, but you can't deny that Grossman/Griese/Orton doesn't exactly have the best targets to throw to.
23 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/TEN/TEN_logo-50x50.gif Limas Sweed, WR, Texas
Young to Sweed once again. I'm surprised I don't see this more.
24 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/TB/TB_logo-50x50.gif Franklin Okam, DT, Texas
Interior is needed.
25 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/BAL/BAL_logo-50x50.gif Lawrence Jackson, DE, USC
Replacement for Pryce.
26 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/GB/GB_logo-50x50.gif Dan Connor, LB, Penn St.
Deadly combo with Hawk and Barnett.
27 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/SD/SD_logo-50x50.gif Antoine Cason, CB, Arizona
Cromartie isn't being used. Florence and Jammer are decent.
28 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/PIT/PIT_logo-50x50.gif Gosder Cherilus, OT, Boston College
Could be losing anywhere from 1-3 starters from the line.
29 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/SEA/SEA_logo-50x50.gif Martellus Bennett, TE, Texas A&M
Stevens is out and inconsistent and Pollard is a short fix.
30 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/SF/SF_logo-50x50.gif Adarius Bowman, WR, Oklahoma St.
Smith needs someone to throw to when he gets back next year.
31 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/DAL/DAL_logo-50x50.gif Aqib Talib, DB, Kansas
Newman and Henry are injury prone and there is no depth behind them.
32 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/NE/NE_logo-50x50.gif N/A. Lost for cheating with cameras.

I will throw up if we draft Desean Jackson. Horrible pick. Give us Sendrick Ellis at that point. Man, that was such a bad pick, it is hard to fathom...

John McCargo has been about hte only not dissapointing thing on our DT rotation.. albeit anywhere else it would be a ****** season. GOod pick

I think I might actually want Desean Jackson there.

1 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/MIA/MIA_logo-50x50.gif Jake Long, OT, Michigan
Improvision on the offensive line is critical.
Safe pick and probably the best pick

2 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/STL/STL_logo-50x50.gif Derrick Harvey, DE, Florida
I'm very high on Harvey. Remember, Carriker was drafted last year to improve the inside, not end.
Rarely will you see a one dimensional pass rusher go so early in the draft. DEs who go top 5 usually have a little more balance to their game.

3 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/DAL/DAL_logo-50x50.gif Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas
Julius Jones should be testing the free agent market, leaving only Barber who cannot handle the load single-handedly.
It certainly makes the Dallas offense unstoppable

4 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/BUF/BUF_logo-50x50.gif Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU
Again, defensive tackle needs upgrades. John McCargo is looking a bit dissapointing.
Good pick but McCargo isn't our problem

5 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/ATL/ATL_logo-50x50.gif Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville
Brohm may not be the best quarterback, but is re-united with his former coach.
I like this pick because I think after years of struggling with accuracy issues at QB, the WRs need someone who can pinpoint the ball

6 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/MIN/MIN_logo-50x50.gif Malcolm Kelly, WR, Oklahoma
I'm very high on Kelly, and not because I'm a Sooners fan.
He's my #1 WR too

7 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/NO/NO_logo-50x50.gif Kenny Phillips, S, Miami
The secondary is a mess.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the safety position is the only position they are actually set at with Daniel Bullocks and Roman Harper

8 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/NYJ/NYJ_logo-50x50.gif Calais Campbell, DE, Miami
A nice fit in their 3-4 defense.
As a 3-4 DE? Or a OLB? I don't see either. I think he's a pure 4-3 DE.

9 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/OAK/OAK_logo-50x50.gif Sam Baker, OT, USC
Offensive line help is critical.
Not exactly sure if he's a mauler like the rest of the Raiders line but I can see Kiffin changing the direction of his line

10 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/ARI/ARI_logo-50x50.gif Malcolm Jenkins, CB, Ohio St.
Roderick Hood is their best cover corner right now.
he's my #1 CB also. Linebacker is another position of need here

11 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/PHI/PHI_logo-50x50.gif Chris Long, DE, Virginia
An aging position, and no OT is worthy of this pick.
Not sure how he fits in Jim Johnson's scheme where he likes faster pass rushers on the ends

12 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/HOU/HOU_logo-50x50.gif Jonathan Stewart, RB, Oregon
Ahman Green is decent at best, but will not be around for much longer.
Not a great fit for the ZBS. Slaton is a better fit but could be considered a reach

13 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/KC/KC_logo-50x50.gif Andre Woodson, QB, Kentucky
Huard is not a starter in the league much longer.
I think the front office wants to see more of Brodie Croyle before they spend a 1st rounder on a QB.

14 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/DET/DET_logo-50x50.gif Reggie Smith, DB, Oklahoma
Lacks depth and talent.
I like this pick.

15 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/JAC/JAC_logo-50x50.gif Justin King, CB, Penn St.
Secondary depth is needed.
Not their greatest need.

16 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/NE/NE_logo-50x50.gif James Laurinitis, LB, Ohio St.
Bruschi could be done after this year.
I like this pick. He seems like a Patriots kind of player to me. Hopefully it works out better than the last MLB from Ohio State they took.

17 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/WAS/WAS_logo-50x50.gif Quentin Groves, DE, Auburn
Groves is the second best pass rusher to Harvey, and is exactly what they need despite being a tad bit undersized.
Fills a HUGE need for the Skins

18 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/NYG/NYG_logo-50x50.gif DeSean Jackson, WR, Cal
Could be a great combo with Burress.
Fills the exact same role as Sinorice Moss

19 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/CIN/CIN_logo-50x50.gif Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC
A talented DT is needed.
Can't argue here

20 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/CAR/CAR_logo-50x50.gif Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College
Delhomme is on the downslide of a good career, and Carr is awful.
My favorite pick in this draft

21 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/DEN/DEN_logo-50x50.gif Early Doucet, WR, LSU
Marshall is talented, as is a healthy Walker, but depth is needed.
They have depth at WR. They have Stokely and Nate Robinson who has been coming up huge lately.

22 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/CHI/CHI_logo-50x50.gif Harry Douglas, WR, Louisville
Maybe they go Brennan here, but you can't deny that Grossman/Griese/Orton doesn't exactly have the best targets to throw to.
I like Douglas a lot but I'm thinking he's a reach at 22.

23 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/TEN/TEN_logo-50x50.gif Limas Sweed, WR, Texas
Young to Sweed once again. I'm surprised I don't see this more.
This would make a lot of sense but they really need speed at WR[b]

24 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/TB/TB_logo-50x50.gif Franklin Okam, DT, Texas
Interior is needed.
[b]Seems a little big for the Tampa 2.

25 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/BAL/BAL_logo-50x50.gif Lawrence Jackson, DE, USC
Replacement for Pryce.
Doesn't really have the size for that 3-4/4-3 combo DE they use in Trevor Pryce

26 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/GB/GB_logo-50x50.gif Dan Connor, LB, Penn St.
Deadly combo with Hawk and Barnett.
Really not a huge position of need here but it helps out

27 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/SD/SD_logo-50x50.gif Antoine Cason, CB, Arizona
Cromartie isn't being used. Florence and Jammer are decent.
They did draft Paul Oliver in the supplemental draft. They really need MLB and WR help.

28 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/PIT/PIT_logo-50x50.gif Gosder Cherilus, OT, Boston College
Could be losing anywhere from 1-3 starters from the line.
Seems like a Steelers OL

29 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/SEA/SEA_logo-50x50.gif Martellus Bennett, TE, Texas A&M
Stevens is out and inconsistent and Pollard is a short fix.
I like it but does he provide any blocking skills that they need?

30 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/SF/SF_logo-50x50.gif Adarius Bowman, WR, Oklahoma St.
Smith needs someone to throw to when he gets back next year.
Can't argue with this pick

31 http://static.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/DAL/DAL_logo-50x50.gif Aqib Talib, DB, Kansas
Newman and Henry are injury prone and there is no depth behind them.
Good pick here

Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College
Delhomme is on the downslide of a good career, and Carr is awful.

Downside? 8 TDs to 1 INT before he got hurt is the downside?

Now if you're talking about age and injuries, I can agree with that.

Don't like the Groves pick. We already have an 'undersized' LB/DE pass rushing tweener in Andre Carter. I'd rather take Ellis to anchor the line, or trade down.

No possible way Long is the pick for the Birdos. They have other positions where more help is needed. Long is more of a fit on a 3-4 defense anyway, Reggie Smith, Justin King, DeSean Jackson, Dan Connor etc...

judging that you wrote this on oct 11, i take it you havent watched much of the bills. John Mccargo has actually been one of the most consistent DT in the league this year. He is constantly getting an upfield push, and making plays in the backfield. Look beyond his sacks, and notice what he is doing. I think he is becoming that first round talent.

Completely disagree with both of you. Poppinga will never be a probowler, but I'm fine with having him as a starter. I would be surpised to see him replaced next year be it FA, draft, or someone already on the team, I can't see it happening nor do I want it to. Bishop is not starter material, and he could only play inside, not to mention he's worse than Brady in coverage. I've never liked Aaron Rouse, but I do agree he could be a linebacker. He'd be a career backup as a LB, but his future as a safety isn't much better.

So as for the pick, as you can imagine I don't like it. It'd be a waste of a first. Not saying that Connor's a bad player, but we already have Hawk and Barnett, 3 stud linebackers is completely unecessary. Cason or another corner or Bennett would be good.

10-10-2007, 10:16 PM
Well first I am going to say from the Titans perspective. There is no way we go with Limas Sweed in the first round with his recent hand injury. If we go WR, we are going speed, or in my opinion, we should aim for ILB like Dan Connor or James Laurinatis.

Second, there is no way in hell that the Giants will take another WR. Right now they are running out Burress, Toomer, Moss and Steve Smith. How does DeSean Jackson fit into that scheme?

10-12-2007, 11:52 PM
Cromartie is pretty much a starter with the amount that the Nickel D is on the field so I don't see where you are getting that he is not being used. Jammer is a lot better than most people give him credit for and very underrated. At the end of the year Florence is as good as gone so the Chargers drafted Paul Oliver. CB really is not a need for the team.

No chance????? Clearly you don't know the Eagles. Considering Kearse and Howard will likely be cut, a DE would easily be possible.

Right..what about Juqua Thomas, Trent Cole and Victor Abiamiri (2nd rounder last year). Thomas signed a 6 year contract last year, Cole is signed through 2011, and Abiamiri is a rookie...No chance. They will not cut BOTH Howard and Kearse..

Do me a favor...stop pretending to know the Eagles. Also, Chris Long doesn't even fit this team...They invested 2 first round picks at DT already...and they like players with speed on the edges to rush the passer...not run stoppers.

Do me a favor and stop pretending you know anything about football in general. The Eagles put a premium on linemen on both sides of the ball. I know all about Thomas, Cole, Abiamiri. Cole is a 3rd down pass rusher, more of a situational type of guy and that's where he's at his best. You REALLY think the Eagles are going to go with only 3 DE? Right, and Derek Anderson is new Tom Brady. They love to sub in liberally. Fact is, both Howard and Kearse have huge contracts and the Eagles are getting jack **** for the investment. The Eagles have been known to cut players when they feel the time is right (Vincent, Taylor, Trotter seeing a pattern here?) You're right, Chris Long doesn't fit the team, that doesn't mean they wouldn't take a DE. It would be appreciated if you thought before you spoke sometimes.

Hey MJ I know it'd be great for you, but the Browns aren't that bad. Creative title though ;)

Offensive line help is critical.
Not exactly sure if he's a mauler like the rest of the Raiders line but I can see Kiffin changing the direction of his lineThe only mauler Oakland has on the OL is gallery. We've started the move towards mobility, quickness, and technique and I expect that move will continue.

As for the pick, OT is the trendy pick right now. Personally, I expect something on the defensive side of the ball or a WR. ZBS teams aren't known for dropping high #1 picks on linemen.

Horrible pick for the skins, we dont take DL on day one. Give us a WR or CB.
