I really can't wait. 16 episodes in a row will be amazing. I find that is one of the reasons 24 does so well, because it never lets you lose interest with an episode every week.

I once noticed that Jack Sheppard from Lost and Dr. Sheppard on Grey's Anatomy obviously have the same last name. And are both doctors. I think that caught rumors on the internet because shortly after they said on Grey's that Dr. Sheppard only has sisters.

Here was a great interview with the series Co-Creator/Executive Producer Damon Lindelof:
http://tv.ign.com/articles/755/755527p1.html
It's nice to know that they are sticking with the finite ending to the series and not dragging it along aimlessly.
Also of note;
http://tv.ign.com/articles/755/755422p1.html
ABC began their TCA day with a Q&A with Stephen McPherson, the President of the network.
....
Asked about the decision this season to air six episodes of Lost in the fall, and the remainder in the spring, McPherson said he felt ideally he would like to air the entire next season of Lost all together, with no breaks, in the manner 24 does, and that there is a "good chance" this will be the case for the fourth season. McPherson added that it's still not decided if Lost would return in the fall or spring, if they do decide to make that change.

At this point, I'm not sure if I am watching this for enjoyment or what exactly. I just want to know what's happening right now and I hate when I got involved in TV shows. I feel that I am forced to watch it and as of a result, I feel really smart thinking up with possible theories.
My money is on Claire dying. They killed off Shannon who was pretty hot, but secondary, so I expect that to happen to Claire.

I definately have lost some interest as well. But I'm still gonna watch when it comes back on and I'm sure the first episode will be intense and peak my interest to right where it used to be.

They moved the time to 10:00 PM eastern time. I don't know if i'll be able to stay up and function properly on thursday, which for me is a busy day in college. I have seen almost every episode (i think i missed the first one ever). There are some strange things about the show. It seems like everyone is packing heat. It's amazing. In the begining of the show they were worried about starving to death because they wouldn't be able to hunt. Now everyone is walking around with glocks. I think i'd like it more if it was down to earth and there was less of a soap opera feel to it. I hate the whole love thing between Jack, Kate and Sawyer. They should just have a threesome and get on with their lives.

Same here, I feel forced to watch it so I know what happens next. It's like going on a diet, you don't really want to do it but you eventually get into a situation where you have to.

This episode better be impressive on Wednesday. I loved season 1 and 2, but the way season 3 has started, combined with the long layoff, I am a little annoyed.
In the end, I will love this season just as much though. It shouldn't disappoint.

Also, I wonder if Ben is really Alex's daughter or not, or if Ben (or whoever the leader might be) is just her "non-biological" father. I think Alex is that french ladies daughter, and if Alex is the french ladies daughter, wouldn't her father be dead. IIRC, the Russian lady said the father was one of the soldiers that she landed there with, and supposidly the other 2 guys she was with died... makes you think.

The french woman has been on the island for a long time remember. 16 years I believe. I think Alex is supposed to be 16 years old as she was born on the island. Didn't Ben also mention once he had spent his whole life on the island? I can't remember.
He might not be her biological father. Remember that the french woman was the one who caught Ben in the net with Sayid. In that scene she didn't lead anyone to believe she knew except that she knew he was one of them. The French lady also said she had never seen any of the "others" but only ever head them.
I thought the craziest part of the episode was the brainwashing with Carl. That was nuts.

That was really cool, it would be interesting to watch it again more slowly to see what clues or insights are given in the video, because I would bet there are some. Also, I don't think that "the others" are necessarily the same as the Dharma scientists, based on Juliette's flashback. (Which I thought was great.)
Another interesting fact, the main dude was named Edmund Burke, another English philosopher. So now we have John Locke, Rousseau, and Burke.

I thought those were the "others" becasue that was the Walt's bear and they had just taken him and were tracking Michael at the time. Also i'm pretty sure i remember the scene when they are all on the dock they "others" did not have shoes on then.

Those people with the whispers were the others. They wanted everyone else on the island to think they were these crazy primative people. Thus the fake beard the one guys wears. The snuck up on Jack, Sawyer, and Locke in jungle and those guys had no idea they were there.
I think there are still "Others" that are not the Dharma scientists. I don't think that was Walt's teddy bear. It belonged to one of those two kids that were taken from Anna Lucia's/Mr Eko's clan in Season 2 I believe. The Dharma Scientists were pretending to be the "Others" to trick Michael and capture Jack/Sawyer etc.

I'm not sure anyone on the island is an actual Dharma scientist. The original Dharma intiative occured in the 1970's I believe. These people just seem to have found what remained of it and have a different agenda. They original purpose of the Dharma Intiative was the find a way to save the world from destroying itself during the Cold War.
A character who we haven't seen in a while is the black women who was with Michael last year when he negotiated to get Walt back. She seems to be the one who was working, or testing, with the children.

I agree I don't think they are actual Dharma Scientists. I slowed down that brainwashing scene too with the power of TIVO. The messages had a kind of a religious meaning.I think Ben's group/the "Dharma scientists" are trying to figure out who is really good and evil out of Jack's group. I don't know if Ben's group is doing this because they are evil or because they are actually good. They always say they are the "good guys" but it could be a trick.
Ben's group/Dharma Scientists will say things like "I know you wouldn't do this" like before Sun killed that woman on the boat, meaning they know that they are a good person.

There is a lot of speculation regarding good and evil. Especially when regarding twins. I still have the Lost related novel Bad Twin in my house and have yet to read it. Also one of the messages in the brain washing dealt with God and Jacob. In the bible Jacob himself was a twin and was favored over his brother by God.
Interesting about Sun. That women did say you wouldn't do this. But then again Sun could be considered "bad" because of her affair. Also notice this week when Kate threatened to shoot Aldo, the guard, he coughed up the information so damn fast. Is that because he knew she was "bad" and probably wasn't bluffing?
I just love this show so damn much. My interest in it had gone away over the long break but all it took was one damn episode and I am searching the internet again for clues and theories.
I could have sworn that they mentioned the name Jacob before.

That site still doesn't tell the whole story. Those who followed to Lost Experience this summer online found the meaning of the numbers. They are the Valenzetti Equation. Created by Enzo Valenzetti. They are supposed to predict the exact date the world ends. Only problem is no one can find a meaning to them or how they came about. The Dharma intiative was created to attempt to change these numbers but altering different environmental and other scientific factors. Thus hoping to extend to liftime of this world.

Penny's father is associated with the Dharma initiative. His company Widmore, provides or supplies most of the stuff found on the island. They have some sort of connection with Dharma/Hanso. A lot of things found on the island have the Widmore company name on it.

Last week's preview showed Kate organizing a rescue party for Jack. This week's episode was the Desmond flashback. This week's preview was the tailies/kids preview. I'm guessing it's either a double preview for next week's episode or a preview for the episode in 2 weeks. Regardless, some ***** is going down the next 2 weeks. I told you guys!

I thought it was a rescue episode as well from the preview last week. Which is why I thought there would be a lot of action.
Also a few funny things I picked up on, that weren't as obvious as the 108 on the clock in Desmond's flat.
In Penny's father's office Desmond was staring at a picture of a polar bear.
Also these lost creators are great. Did anyone hear the song playing in the background when Desmond was putting on his tie. It was "Building a Mystery" by Sarah McLaughlin. I thought that was pretty humorous.

Well something obviously has to do with the flight attendant on the plane. She was abducted when Eko and Ana Lucia made the hike back to the beach with all the other plane survivors. She tells Jack that they are here to watch in the commercial. That could be interesting.

And whats the deal with Vincent? I feel like there's gotta be something going on there. Possibly an incarnation of the smoke? The Smoke and its incarnations seem to have a lot to do with faith. Funny episode, some good laughs with Saywer of course. I thought that the Hurley back story was alright. I like how we got to see everyone on the Lost island for once, I realized how sick I was getting of the Others. I thought they needed to show the Losties because the show really features an "ensemble cast" and fans were starting to complain that they never showed some characters anymore.
I think that this episode was a nice sigh of relief and reminiscent of Season 1 because there was no hatch and no Others island sets. I think that this was the first episode since the last episode of Season 1 which didn't feature either of these (Thank God).
I saw that coming from the beginning.
refering to the French chick, yeah that was obvious i caught onto that one too.

The song that came on in the van last week was "Shambala" by Three Dog Night.
Shambala is another Buddhism tie-in that reflects the island. Shambala is the mythical land of enlightenment that is hidden from the world in Buddhist beliefs.
The belief of Shambala is the basis for James Hilton's novel Lost Horizon, which itself is similar to Lost.
and if you're looking for a real stretch... Three Dog Night - three dog - Cerberus - Smokey - Vincent? And thus, Smokey = Vincent. Case closed.

The backstories this season have been pretty weak as a whole. The few things that we wanna know (like how Locke was paralyzed) they are holding over our heads for a later time. All the flashbacks do now if run parallel to the events on the island. They used to serve this purpose while at the same time providing interesting character development, but they are beginning to bog down the show a bit.
That being said, I really did like this week's episode, at least in comparison to the previous couple weeks.
Next week shall be good . . . the connection between two of the 815 survivors is an interesting twist (I know what it is, and have been pretty confident that it was true for quite some time now).

I did find Jack's rendezvous with Bai Ling to be quite. . . .haunting and just odd as well. I hate Juliet's back story, for some reason I just don't like her character at all.
I just hope the connection is not Claire and Charlie. Waitaminnit, there names look similar to each other.

So there is this theory that I find enticing. Locke was sent in by the Darwin people to destroy their "pods" and all of their equipment to keep their study from getting out to the press/public.
Where John Locke is really an employee (recent or not, I don't think it matters) of the Darwin Institute and was sent in as a cover up effort.
Thoughts?

Haha I don't know how he would get that confused if he watches. I focus intensely on everything they say. Lost is basically like my life, Wednesday is my favorite day of the week.
My Theory/Prediction/Whatever you want to call it
Dharma came to the Island doing whatever project they do and found out about the hostiles (others). The hostiles defeated/captured the Dharma workers and planted people in each station to keep the Dharma things running so Dharma Intitiative on the Mainland thought everything was going alright so Dharma wouldn't send reinforcements to the Island. The hostiles are obviously working on some sort of project that they want to keep other people of the Island. Now that the failsafe key was turned and the Flame has been destroyed, Dharma will know something is wrong and send reinforcements to the Island and we could find out some connections. What the Hostiles are doing I have no ieda (Smokey?).

What about Kelvin? We know that he wasn't there before DHARMA, but he manned the Swan. His story is similar to that of Patchy's. Did he take over the Swan like Patch dude took over the Flame? If he was an Other, how come they never knew about Desmond's boat? Was he recruited like Juliet and almost similarly a rogue other, keeping the boat a secret and trying to get away? Is Kelvin alive? If so, is he with the Others currently?
Aren't the people behind DHARMA still sending people to the island (Juliet, Ethan?)? Do the Others just take these people as their own? Brainwash them? Could the others somehow have previous ties with these people? If they have taken control of DHARMA operations on the island, have they somehow extended their influence to the outside world and companies tied to DHARMA?
Not sure how relevant or coherent any of this, just wondering.

So many questions in there I can't answer . . . but I do know this:
- Kelvin is definatly dead.
- Juliet was not recruited by DHARMA, IMO. That would mean that THE OTHERS are DHARMA, which I don't think they are. As Mikhael (Patchy) tried to get them to believe, THE OTHERS may try to take on that identity as a cover, but there is a division among the two groups.
I am not sure we have met anyone from the real DHARMA Initiative yet.
Juliet came to the island about the same time that Desmond came to the hatch (both around 3 years ago, roughly late 2001). Not sure how much significance this has, but I thought it was worth noting. That is about as far back of island knowledge as we have seen directly.

I honstly have never seen the scene where Kelvin dies, so I didn't kno there
And with Juliet, I'm just confused at what happened with the whole Mittelwork thing. Who are they? What was Ethan's connection, and why were they sending people to the island?
And I've also noticed the Juliet/Desmond timeline thing. Maybe them bringing Juliet to the island opened up something for Desmond to get there. I don't know.

Ethan was an important dude . . . that's about all I know. Ben said he was their surgeon. He was the one who ran tests/experiments on Claire when she was kidnapped. He is involved with recruiting other "talented" people to the island. But I will never understand why he was the one sent to infiltrate the 815 camp. Why not send someone a little less important . . . there were any number of people Ben could have sent (see the opening to season 3).
That Richard Alpert guy from the Juliet flashbacks is gonna return in a couple weeks. I saw the casting list. I think he is one of the "behind the scenes" guys (like Alvar Hanso) that are funding the OTHERS in whatever it is they do. I also think Christian Shephard was involved in their efforts somehow. He works as a catalyst on the show (appearing in 4 different character flashbacks now). The disappearence of his body has always puzzled me too. The OTHERS didn't want Jack to get his body for some reason . . .

They need to start answering some questions since there are so many of them. My favorite characters are Sawyer, I love his nicknames. I was upset when he lost in ping pong because there is none for a week. :(

So how many connections to Jack and his father do we have now? Anna-Lucia was Jack's father's body guard for a while. Sawyer met Jacks father in a bar. And now Claire is Jack's half sister? I missing any others?
Also, it was a great ending, seeing Jack playing football. To the previous post about Jack and what was up with him. I think Jack has kinda given up on getting off the island and now he just wants to have fun, live like a human not an animal anymore. Plus, he saw Kate doing Sawyer so he figured he probably had no shot at her anymore.
Also, I doubt they storm the place next week, but rather do it tactically and sneak around. They are just way to outnumbered to storm the place.

Here's my scouting report on Jack:
Jack Shepard (Spinal Surgeon)
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 188
Position: WR
Positives: Has a solid build with good upper body muscle definition, big bubble, thick thighs, high calves, broad shoulders, good chest thickness. Can generate a second gear to separate in the open and has the nimble feet needed to make precise lateral cuts. Displays reliable hands and good straightline speed. Displays good form on a touchdown celebration spike.
Negatives: Very raw as a prospect. Can catch outside the frame, but will let the ball into his body too much (double catches). Is a bit of a strider. Very one-dimensional and struggles to find soft spots in zone coverage. A one-cut runner who struggles to beat press coverage. Does not use his hands effectively in trying to beat the jam.

Claire went from goth, to preggers, to hot.
I expect Charlie to die at the season finale, just a hunch. Though I think they will make it to be a heroic death, with some purpose.
There is more to Christian Sheppard than they are telling us. He has, thus far, played a crucial role in several characters' stories. Besides, his body was taken in S1, that was never explained if my memory serves me right.

This show is so weird. The book Sawyer was reading was The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. I started reading that book out of pure coincidence 2 days ago because I wanted something to read and picked it off a shelf of a couple hundred books just because it was the first to catch my eye. I was amazed when I saw it. I got the same feeling I got when the bearded Tom said " The thing is, We're going to have to take the boy." in the 1st season finale.

Jack Shepard

Positives: Displays great straight line route running ability, can make the difficult catch, good size and strength, could be used at WR and the team medic, very aggressive and motor never stops, a leader with excellent intangibles
Negatives: Lacks elite timed speed, never really played against top competition, never had a strong supporting cast, very raw technique and footwork, needs to improve his hands, not very instinctive, will get out of control at times when scoring a touchdown

No, I don't think Christian is "him" but I do think he is involved with DHARMA or the OTHERS in some way.
There is some significance to his missing body. Somebody wanted to keep it away from Jack. They obviously knew Jack was on the island, and they had to know that his father's body was too . . . hmm
