AD is the front runner imo

Freddy G
10-09-2007, 04:39 PM
Joe Thomas has been rock solid since his week 1 introduction to the NFL.

AD has been a monster though, i vote for him.

ross has been crazy, and hasnt even started all the games.

Well there is a DROY and OROY I think Marshawn will win OROY because of carries and AD will get hurt, while Pwillie will win DROY.

Peterson will win, but man I really like the way Lynch runs. If he had a decent line, he'd probably be the frontrunner.

Yes Lynch runs so hard it really is unfortunate he has no line or passing game. He is gonna get worn down unless they get help. He could be a back who fades away when he's 28 years old because of the pounding he takes.

I'm going with AD and Okoye right now.

But Bowe/Lynch are still in contention

As is Ross/Willis.

I went with Willis, basically just because he's been a tackling machine. There's alot of good candidates so far this year.

10-09-2007, 05:10 PM
adrian peterson and patrick willis are front runners by a mile

Crazy_Chris
10-09-2007, 05:12 PM
It's insane that Adrian is averaging 5 yards per carry with our passing offense teams stack the box and they still can't stop AD.

Jughead10
10-09-2007, 05:13 PM
I'm really excited about Ross. He has really only started for 1.5 games as he was benched for the first half yesterday for missing curfew.

At this point Peterson and Willis are the obvious choices and will likely still be the winners at the end of the year.

Moses
10-09-2007, 05:37 PM
Adrian Peterson. Already looks like a star in this league.

10-09-2007, 05:39 PM
Its pretty obvious that AD will win, so i gave it to JJ despite him costing us the game.

Dwayne Bowe...and it's really not even close

He had a big hit on a player focusing on catching the ball...just give that guy the award right now.

I went with Bowe.It is easier IMHO for a rookie RB to make an impact then it is for a rookie WR and what Bowe has done so far is remarkable given who the QB and head coach are

adschofield

Wait, how does AD get the vote, while D-Bowe almost has much receiving yards as AD has rushing

princefielder28
10-09-2007, 08:43 PM
Peterson has impressed so much and why the Vikings don't give him more touches is beyond me

BrownsTown
10-09-2007, 09:05 PM
Wait, how does AD get the vote, while D-Bowe almost has much receiving yards as AD has rushing

Because AD also has 166something yards recieving. And a 5.0 carry average is abosolutely sick...even for someone who isn't a rookie.

terribletowel39
10-09-2007, 09:15 PM
i went with Bowe because his numbers are almost as impressive as AD's but yet he has one of the worst QB's in the league throwing it to him and AD has one of the better left sides of an O-Line in football. and plus i kinda have a man crush on Bowe being an LSU fan.

PoopSandwich

I jokingly voted for JT... My real vote would go for Peterson.

Anthony Smith (another Syracuse star) was making hits like that all over the place last year, but it doesnt mean they get mentioned for DPOY, because to qualify for that they have to play consistently at the highest level, not just make monster hits (even tho thats more fun to watch). Thats why P.Willie is getting the votes, because he has played solidly every game, and obviously made a massive impact to his team.

It is also nearly impossible for anyone other than a DE or OLB to get DROY because people usually give those awards based on sacks. A CB could win it if he got double-digit INTs, but how likely is that. If a DE get double-digit sacks or OLB gets triple-digit tackles, they will most likely win over the sometimes better rookie defender.

OROY- Calvin Johnson - if he can pick up the pace again if he can't I'm going to go with AD or Marshawn Lynch
DROY- Amobi Okoye- 4 sacks at DT for a rookie thats more sacks than Shaun Phillips, Shawne Merriman, Jason Taylor, and Patrick Kerney plus he has the same amount of sacks as Tommie Harris, John Abraham, an is only half a sack behind Demarcus Ware

AD v Bowee on O
I really like Lynch, he's the only reason to watch the bills this year, but his team will really hurt him, because they're having so many injuries and guys underachieving. I think AD is the clear front runner but Bowe is one of rare wide receivers who is able to make plays for himself as a rookie and I see improving his case better than Ad will because AD's team isn't going to give him much help in the passing game whereas Herman Edwards will remember that he does have running back which will make teams commit more men to the run which will let Bowe really start torching teams
Willis v Okoye on D
Willis is leading and he will continue to play great all year its up to someone to beat him for droy i doubt one of corners, just because cornerback isn't a position that puts up stats to gain hype. So that leaves Okoye who could put up the sacks to beat willis

Here are my Rookie of the Years:

OROY:
Tony Ugoh... Who thought that he would fill int he role of LT so well and so quickly. Many (including myself) thought he was better suited at Guard, but we were wrong and once again the Colts drafted very well. It is sad because people like Peterson and Bowe are on teams that aren't performing that well in spite of their success, but Ugoh is having an immediate impact on a team that lives and dies with the o-line.

DROY: Aaron Ross... Just being a Giants homer. =D

TONY UGOH FOR OROY!!!!!!!!

2 INTs and more importantly 8 passes defensed is very impressive for someone who has barely even started.

if McNeil didnt get it ugoh would have to kill some people to win it, the only good thing that McNeil did last year was have more votes than Reggie Bush, lol

Peterson has impressed so much and why the Vikings don't give him more touches is beyond me

Because Childress is a retrad, and he doesn't think Peterson can handle that many carries.

My candidates for rookie of the year:

1) Adrian Peterson

2) Dwayne Bowe

3) Marshawn Lynch

Patrick Willis did the same thing to Heinz Ward.

He has two passes defended and a couple of qb pressures as well. Plus he gets his fair shares of tfls.

He has 1 receiving also. And if we could get in the red zone maybe once every other game he would have a lot more.

AD still needs more touchdowns imo.

AD needs to learn how to pass pro so he can get on the damn field more often. He would be putting up numbers that would be putting other rookies to shame if he actually was an every down back. He is only on the field for 37% of the offensive snaps, for a player like him, he should be in waaaay more.

I don't see where you get that from, as yo123 stated he also has a recieving Td which gives him 2 total TD's in 4 games Dwayne Bowe and Marshawn Lynch both only have 3 TD's in 5 games.
