Cincinnati Bengals @ Kansas City Chiefs - The Bengals seemingly imploded towards the end of the Patriots game, so that extra week will help a lot. The Chiefs are in disarray.

Houston Texans @ Jacksonville Jaguars - Had Andre Johnson been healthy and playing I would have taken Houston. David Garrard is quietly having a solid season.

Miami Dolphins @ Cleveland Browns - Miami, like I said prior to the season, is one of the three worst teams in the NFL. At least Ronnie Brown has finally come around. Cleveland's passing attack has been a pleasant surprise.

Minnesota Vikings @ Chicago Bears - Minnesota is a one dimensional team and I think Chicago can make enough defensive and special teams plays to win at home.

Philadelphia Eagles @ New Yorks Jets - Andy Reid's teams have always made the best out of the bye week and they face a bad Jets team.

St. Louis Rams @ Baltimore Ravens - I almost picked the Rams, but couldn't muster the courage. Also I can't imagine the Rams' O-Line keeping Frerrote protected.

Tennessee Titans @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers - How is Tampa Bay favored in this game? Despite Jeff Garcia doing his Doug Flutie imitation (i.e running around with no rhyme or reason), the Bucs' left offensive line will be over-matched against the right side of the Titans' D-Line. The defensive front seven will have difficulty against the Titans' O-Line. The big question is whether Vince Young get his act together after last week, so much so that I am not confident enough in him in order to make this my upset pick.

Washington Redskins @ Green Bay Packers UPSET SPECIAL - Washington's pass defense has been prolific and that's all Green Bay can actually do. I think Washington wins due in part to having a more balanced offense.

Carolina Panthers @ Arizona Cardinals - There just isn't a lot to be optimistic about when it comes to the Carolina Panthers. Steve Smith makes plays, but it's hard when your QB limits you like David "I can't process information" Carr.

New England Patriots @ Dallas Cowboys - Randy Moss owns the Cowboys and still holds that grudge against Jerry Jones. The Patriots defense will frustrate Romo.

Oakland Raiders @ San Diego Chargers - The Chargers are back, or at least I think. LaDainian Tomlinson owns the Raiders.

New Orleans Saints @ Seattle Seahawks - The Seahawks offense has been out of synch; playing New Orleans' defense is the best way to get back on track.

New York Giants @ Atlanta Falcons - The Falcons will be missing both starting offensive tackles, so expect the Giants' DE rotation to annihilate the Falcons' offense. As a fan the fact that the team will be destroyed in front of all the nation depresses me.

Week 1: 11-5
Week 2: 10-6
Week 3: 11-5
Week 4: 9-5
Week 5: 12-2
Overall: 53-23 (+2)

Cincinnati Bengals @ Kansas City Chiefs - I'm not confident at all in picking this rush Defense vs. Larry Johnson, but KC's O-line is struggling in all phases. Also I think there are some opportunities in the back-end of KC's secondary for Palmer to take advantage of with aggressive young safeties. I'll just hope the Bengals have sorted out all their issues during the Bye week, losing to the Chiefs would be trouble for Marvin Lewis' squad.

Houston Texans @ Jacksonville Jaguars - Houston has been a thorn in Jacksonville's side for a while, but I'll gamble on the Jags in what will be a huge divisional match up for the AFC South. Maybe I'm jumping on the bandwagon too soon but the Jags are looking like legit playoff contenders after the past few weeks and they're doing it smash mouth style. Shutting down opposing teams running games; holding Larry Johnson to 12 yards rushing, and Travis Henry to 35 in consecutive games. While also imposing their running game on other teams 186, and 156 net yards rushing in the last 2 games. Most importantly David Garrard is being efficient, and not making game costing decisions. Thankfully for Houston, they are likely to get Ahman Green, and Jacoby Jones back..and they will need every bit of their contributions in the passing and running games but they will still likely be without Andre Johnson. I think this one will be close but for some reason I like Jax at home.

Miami Dolphins @ Cleveland Browns - The past two games at Home, Cleveland has looked like an Offensive Powerhouse in wins over the Bengals, and Ravens. Although I think Anderson needs to improve his decision making, I like how Edwards, and Winslow are progressing in this Offense. I know I'm going to regret this pick later on, but with Jamal Lewis's status not looking well, and Miami getting Channing Crowder back, and Zach Thomas expecting to play I think they'll be able to contain the run, and Ronnie Brown can do just enough on the ground for them to get their first Win of the season.

Minnesota Vikings @ Chicago Bears - The Bears seemingly have found some life again last Sunday. Although this could be a tough Defensive type game I don't see Tarvaris/Holcomb doing much vs. the Bears Defense even if it has struggled a little recently. The key is just for Griese to keep managing the game avoiding mistakes. Hopefully they'll continue to utilize Greg Olsen more, flexed wide he can open up some things for their Offense.

Philadelphia Eagles @ New Yorks Jets - Under Andy Reid the Eagles are 8-0 after the Bye, and they've had a week to steam about the Giants loss. They should be getting Lito Sheppard back, and I see Chad Pennington struggling..I wouldn't be surprised to see Kellen Clemens make an appearance if Pennington throws a pick or two early on.

St. Louis Rams @ Baltimore Ravens - The Ravens are struggling Offensively, and down in the Red Zone. Maybe facing the Rams is the cure for a week, hopefully they get the ball into McGahee's hands early and open up some things. Either way I can't see St.Louis' Offense with Frerrote/Leonard/and a patch work O-line posing much of a threat to the Ravens Defense.

Tennessee Titans @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers *Upset Special - Now with Michael Pittman being out I can see the Bucs struggling in the run game. Especially against a feisty Tennessee front 7. I think their might be some protection problems trying to match up against Vanden-Bosch and Haynesworth. If they double up a Tight End, (Becht, Smith) or a RB that leaves Garcia with 1 less check down option. I think the Bucs need an outstanding Defensive performance, also I will whiff on this pick if VY plays as poorly as he did last week.

Washington Redskins @ Green Bay Packers - I think Favre and the Packers bounce back at Home. Jason Campbell looked great on Sunday, but throwing against Stanley Wilson, and Fernando Bryant is a lot easier than passing when seeing Al Harris, and Charles Woodson matched up on your wide receivers. Randle-El will likely be out and it looked like he was just finding his stride, although Santana Moss will be back. If Marcus Washington is out, I think the Packers should try and establish the run game a little more with Wynn/Morency.

Carolina Panthers @ Arizona Cardinals - I think Darnell Dockett, and Adrian Wilson have to be licking their chops at the prospect of facing David Carr and a struggling Panthers team. New Orleans didn't have the aggressive pass rushers to take advantage of Carr's indecisiveness, but the Front 7 is a strength for Arizona this year. Anquan Boldin being out is a concern, but have no fear Edge is leading the NFC in Rushing yardage. Who would've guessed?

New England Patriots @ Dallas Cowboys - Don't get me wrong I definitely think Dallas is capable of pulling this out at Home if they get the right breaks, but I just don't have the guts to take them. Especially with the way the Patriots have looked so far this season.

Oakland Raiders @ San Diego Chargers - It looks like the Chargers have bounced back after making a statement 41-3 victory over Denver. Hopefully that intensity and anger carries over into this week.

New Orleans Saints @ Seattle Seahawks - With Branch, Hackett, Strong being out for Seattle I think there is a slight possibility that the Saints can pull the upset. But in the End I can't see a team that's struggling this much, turning it around in that Stadium. The 'Hawks will most likely take out their frustrations over losing in Pittsburgh on us.

New York Giants @ Atlanta Falcons - The Falcons are missing their starting Offensive Tackles. Osi Umenyiora and that high pressure Defense vs. the immobile Byron Leftwich doesn't sound pretty.

bored and procrastinating, I've risen to the njx challenge and putting reason behind my picks

Cincinnati Bengals @ Kansas City Chiefs- The Bengals D is bad, but i dont see Croyle beating them, Cincy's O goes crazy
Houston Texans @ Jacksonville Jaguars- I like the Jags D too much
Miami Dolphins @ Cleveland Browns- Ronnie carries the phins.
Minnesota Vikings @ Chicago Bears- Bears D vs Vikings O, enough said
Philadelphia Eagles @ New Yorks Jets- upset special!!!- I dont like the Eagles.
St. Louis Rams @ Baltimore Ravens- Even God needs an OL and a semi decent QB.
Tennessee Titans @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers- VY struggles again, Ronde has a pick 6, final score 7-0 TB
Washington Redskins @ Green Bay Packers- See Eagles-Jets game, and substitute the picked losers
Carolina Panthers @ Arizona Cardinals- Boldin and Fitz against a Tim Lewis run secondary BWAHAHA
New England Patriots @ Dallas Cowboys- the "shots at romo" thread lights up again
Oakland Raiders @ San Diego Chargers- i just dont see the bolts losing this in Whales vagina
New Orleans Saints @ Seattle Seahawks- of course when i stop picking the saints, they'll win... but for the 2nd time this year, igo against them
New York Giants @ Atlanta Falcons- I'm a homer, 2 new OT's against 2 pro bowl DE's, and (insert crappy QB's name here) starting for Atlanta.

No Comments for now; other than.. Something is telling me I should pick the Vikings over the Bears.. I'm not gonna do it now, but just be on alert.. Also entertaining the idea of Washington over Green Bay

EARLY Sunday Switches::: I hate having the same picks as other people here (because I'm clearly better than you all) so I had to make a couple changes to my picks.. Miami Dolphins over Cleveland via Cleo Lemon DOMINANCE.. Seriously, I love Cleo Lemon. You will all find out how dominant he is.. I'd compare him to LeBron James, but that's still lowballing Cleo. GO CLEO!! Also switched to the Redskins over the Packers... I believe I am the only one here with these picks. Nobody copy me.

two things about san diego
demolishing a bad team a statement victory makes not.
phillip rivers will have another horrible game show up with three pics, and no one will remember that they beat the broncos, everyone would say. wow. they lost to the ******* raiders...

why? the raiders D has still been and will still be the most underrated defense in the league... and with a healthy Rhodes, i don't think it's impossible not to see the numbers out of SD.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Kansas City Chiefs
The Bengals should win this game, but something tells me the Chiefs pulls this out at raucous Arrowhead. I don't like Rudi Johnson not practicing until Friday, a hamstring injury can linger, and I equally don't like the Bengals pass defense losing their best defensive back in Jonathan Joseph due to a one-game suspension. LJ gets back on track, and the veteran Huard makes enough plays to Tony Gonzalez and Dwayne Bowe to win this game. Chiefs 27, Bengals 24.

Houston Texans @ Jacksonville Jaguars
I have to think that every Jaguars player who was on the 2006 roster remembers getting swept by the Texans last year, and that it cost them a playoff berth. And they'll want to get that awful taste from their mouth by knocking the taste out of the Texans' mouths. Jaguars 20, Texans 9.

Miami Dolphins @ Cleveland Browns
Showcase of the young stud playmakers, in Ronnie Brown, Braylon Edwards, and Kellen Winslow, Junior. I like the Browns at home in an offensive game. Browns 31, Dolphins 24.

Minnesota Vikings @ Chicago Bears
It looks like Bears (especially Ron Turner) may have finally gotten the winning formula through their skulls: (1) Run the ball; (2) pass the ball to the tight end; and (3) play good defense. Greg Olsen could be a huge factor for the Bears as a quick and athletic tight end is the perfect weapon against a Tampa 2/Cover 2 defense. Bears 16, Vikings 9.

Philadelphia Eagles @ New Yorks Jets
If it wasn't for the Dolphins, the Jets would be the worst team in the AFC East. Plus the Eagles should get Pro Bowl corner Lito Sheppard for this game, although no Brian Dawkins surprisingly. Eagles 30, Jets 13.

St. Louis Rams @ Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens are on upset alert, in my opinion. The Rams come into this game a bit banged up in some areas, but they are also getting some guys back into the thick of things following suspensions and injuries, and Gus Frerotte is the best back-up quarterback in the league. The Ravens defense better not mail another game in. Ravens 13, Rams 9.

Tennessee Titans @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers UPSET SPECIAL
One of the most interesting match-ups this weekend, I'll pick the Titans on the road by a close margin. Both lines of scrimmage are in their favor, I think. Titans 17, Buccaneers 14.

Washington Redskins @ Green Bay Packers
The Redskins defense can potentially match up well against the Packers offense, I think. As for the other side of the ball, I think Clinton Portis can gain the tough yards against that Green Bay defense, and that helps open up the play-action pass for young quarterback Jason Campbell to Santana Moss and Chris Cooley. Redskins 24, Packers 19.

Carolina Panthers @ Arizona Cardinals
To put it bluntly, the Cardinals are playing much better both offensively and defensively than the Panthers. Plus Arizona plays much better at home in their beautiful stadium. When your starting quarterback options are David Carr, Matt Moore, and Vinny Testaverde, you might be in a pickle. I don't know. Cardinals 27, Panthers 13.

New England Patriots @ Dallas Cowboys
The 'boys are playing at home, which is a big plus, but the loss of Anthony Henry and the presence of Roy Williams hurts. Randy Moss having a big game is overblown, I think: the rest of the receiving core - Donte Stallworth, Wes Welker, and Ben Watson - could all have bigger days. If I were the Cowboys, I'd start Marion Barber from start to finish, in a game of this magnitude. Patriots 31, Cowboys 21.

Oakland Raiders @ San Diego Chargers
The Chargers' weakness is their secondary, their pass defense, but the Oakland Raiders suck at passing the ball. Meanwhile the Raiders defense isn't doing too well against the run, and that's the Chargers' strength. Chargers 31, Raiders 14.

New Orleans Saints @ Seattle Seahawks
Everything tells me that the Seahawks will win this game, and most likely even convincingly given how great the Seahawks defense plays at home (as well as anyone in the league). Lofa Tatupu should get All-Pro consideration at middle linebacker. But for whatever reason, I'm picking the Saints. Maybe it's nothing more than a gut feeling, although I would note that the Seahawks will be without Deion Branch and Mack Strong, and possibly Marcus Pollard as well. Saints 24, Seahawks 23.

New York Giants @ Atlanta Falcons
In the past, the Falcons could potentially play like world-beaters at home in primetime, we'll see if that's still the case. I like this game in favor of the Giants, their offense will move the ball and score, and their defense coached by Spagnuola will dismantle the Falcons offense. Giants 24, Falcons 6.

only if i can get one for people who still don't get it. read through a few of my other pick weeks, then ask yourself if you should really be raising an issue with anything i said other than that the nfc east is terrible, the chargers are terrible, and the broncos are terrible. i'll wait.

God forbid somebody picks the teams they believe to win...

NJX...NFC East is the worst in football? Are you kidding me?

How can one consider the NFC West, North, or even South better than the East? If this debate needs to be taken elsewhere, let me know and I'll see you there.

Thanks, PL.

I did a good job calling some of the games many didn't expect, like the Chiefs and Saints:
Geo: 49-27 (+3)

I was absolutely atrocious this week in picking games, I think I got a little too cocky for my own good and started being way too confident in some of my picks. Really what business did I have taking Miami?

Cincinnati Bengals @ Kansas City Chiefs - I'm not confident at all in picking this rush Defense vs. Larry Johnson, but KC's O-line is struggling in all phases. Also I think there are some opportunities in the back-end of KC's secondary for Palmer to take advantage of with aggressive young safeties. I'll just hope the Bengals have sorted out all their issues during the Bye week, losing to the Chiefs would be trouble for Marvin Lewis' squad.

Well Marvin Lewis' squad is in some serious trouble. I thought the Bengals would've settled their internal differences over the Bye Week, but now it looks like CJ, and the rest of that locker room are in turmoil more than ever. The Offense is out of sync, 1-11 on Third Downs is inexcusable. I also underestimated the Chiefs somewhat, they are a better team than I thought they were. The Defense can make plays, and Huard can get the job done when Larry Johnson gets the engine going.

One of the few premonitions I was actually correct on. The Jaguars finally overcame the Texans, they continued to shut the run down well and pound the football with Maurice Jones-Drew. I'm a little bit concerned about how many passing yards their Defense gave up though to Schaub/Rosenfels even without Andre Johnson. Especially because Peyton Manning and the Colts passing game is coming to town on Monday Night.

Just awful, I must have been impaired when I made this pick. Because I really have no clue what I was thinking here. Maybe I tried to be too cute, and outsmarted myself. But all signs pointed to a Cleveland win and I went against the grain. Maybe I wasn't thinking about Cleo Lemon starting.

Got lazy and didn't do my homework on this one. Their were some early indications that the Vikings running game, Adrian Peterson in particular had some favorable match-ups against a banged up Bears Defense, and one Sunday Night performance vs. the Packers swayed me too much into Griese's favor.

This game played out pretty much how I expected it to.

Ravens Defense made toast out of Frerrote..picking him off 5 times. McGahee managed to get into the Endzone, and the Ravens saved my tail again.

For the most part the Titans Defense did their job, I just didn't foresee the Offense continuing to struggle that much. VY was disappointing me, and I think it's time for the Titans to worry about their rushing game. LenDale, and Chris Brown are not performing up to par.

Pulled this one out by the Skin of my teeth. The Packers Defense, although they gave up a couple scores early really held up in the end of the game. Sloppy all around game from both sides though, Redskins fumbling twice, missing interception opportunities, Packers missing a chip shot FG, committing costly penalties, and in the end you basically have a toss up and I landed the right side of the coin this time.

Really did not anticipate Kurt Warner being knocked out of the game. Would the outcome have been different if he played? Maybe, Tim Rattay just didn't seem to have it out there. and the Panthers continue to confuse me.. Is this a good team or a bad team or something in the middle?

New England Patriots @ Dallas Cowboys - Don't get me wrong I definitely think Dallas is capable of pulling this out at Home if they get the right breaks, but I just don't have the guts to take them. Especially with the way the Patriots have looked so far this season.

Right now it doesn't look like I'm going to go against the Pats for the remainder of the season, maybe vs. the Colts.

Oakland Raiders @ San Diego Chargers - It looks like the Chargers have bounced back after making a statement 41-3 victory over Denver. Hopefully that intensity and anger carries over into this week.

LT showed up big time and had the breakout performance everyone was expecting him to have eventually.

I figured the Saints might come out of their slump some time mid season, but definitely didn't think it would be last week in Seattle. I'll gladly take the Loss and being wrong on this one though.

New York Giants @ Atlanta Falcons - The Falcons are missing their starting Offensive Tackles. Osi Umenyiora and that high pressure Defense vs. the immobile Byron Leftwich doesn't sound pretty.

Harrington will be the scape goat for this loss but I'm not entirely sure it's all his fault. Yes he's been questionable, but the protection has been severely lacking, and some his receivers have been dropping passes. Either way the Giants look to be firmly on the right track after a disappointing season opening.

Miami killed me early this season, I kept thinking there were vestiges of Saban's team but finally realized there aren't. I can't remember a Dolphins defense this bad. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Miami didn't win a game.

(Sorry guru, joeyjr, and the rest of the 'phins fans. Keep the hope alive, gang.)

Plus the Browns play very good at home.

Hell, I did too. I think dia did as well... so maybe if we continue to all pick against them they'll win. Sounds like a plan to me.
