first poll will be released at 4 pm during the FOX postgame show

during the hawaii game, espn showed the projected rankings; heres what i remember

1. lsu
2. cal
3. osu
4. bc
5. usf
6. missouri
7. south carolina
8. wvu
9. oregon
13. usc
20. hawaii-----computers hate them

it will be interesting to see where cal falls; theyre 11 in the coaches poll; mizzu will drop out; ou will jump ahead, but how far? lsu will probably be around 5; usf could jump up to 2 since they have 2 quality wins (auburn, wvu)

The computer polls had Oklahoma ranked like 22nd or somewhere in that range in a couple of sites I saw...They were 12th or 13th in those same BCS projections before yesterday, I'd be surprised if they were any higher than 8 or 9 later this afternoon.

Wouldn't be surprised at all if LSU is still #1, but the computers reportedly had USF #1-2 before yesterday, so they could slide into the 1 spot as well...

I hate speculating, so I'll wait till the real polls come out. And then I will ***** about LSU being ranked too high after a loss.

Hawaii is 18th

Unless some major shakeup happens where a crappy team ends up winning their conference, they'd need to get to 14th to make a BCS bowl automatically. Even if they go undefeated they may not.

Not when the polls like teams with two losses like Auburn more than them

USC is at 14th. yup we're out.

Not necessarily. LSU won the BCS title in 2003 and they were out of the top 10 in the first poll.

Things have to happen but its possible..especially with the way this years been going and all the good teams left on SC's schedule.

I don't think any team this year is a clearcut number 1. Look at the past champions. The teams that won were balanced on offense and defense. Florida 2006-texas 2005.

this year ohio state has a very good defense but subpar offense. Lsu has the best defense but their offense is average (especially without doucet), USC good defense, poor offense. Cal great offense, subpar defense.

boston college and USF suck on all sides of the ball.

it'll be interesting to see how things work out.

Ohio State's offense is far from subpar. It is very good, just not as good as it was last year.

My opinion on how the teams actually should be ranked.

1. Ohio State - have a easy schedule but nothing will be a sure thing with an inexperienced QB
2. Boston College - huge question mark and next week's game at Virginia Tech will be a real test.
3. Oklahoma Ridiculously easy schedule, way overrated! Lost to Colorado and barely beat Iowa St.
4. LSU - hanging on by their fingernails, not a top 5 team IMO
5. Oregon - should be ranked at #3 but West Coast bias will keep the lower.
6. West Virginia - Should be #4 but Big East bias will keep them lower
7. USC - no way they are above Arizona St. but finally getting some QBing and will be a threat for NC game if they beat Oregon, Cal and Arizona St. all on the road.
8. Arizona State - If they beat Cal, Oregon and USC, they'll be in the NC game. I'd rate them 6th right now with LSU at #7.
9. South Florida
10. Virginia Tech
11. Florida
12. Kansas
13. Hawaii
14. Missouri
15. Texas - I'd put Kentucky and South Carolina ahead of Texas
16. Kentucky
17. South Carolina
18. California
19. Georgia
20. Virginia
21. Auburn - everybody thinks they are a good team because they beat Florida and almost beat LSU but remember this team lost at home to Mississippi St and USF. The truth is the SEC isn't a very strong conference this year. They are just a lot of above average teams taking turns beating each other.
22. Penn State - I prefer Wake Forest here
23. Michigan - I'd move Michigan up to 18, time to forget Appalatian St.
24. Wisconsin - Maybe Penn St but I doubt either of these Big 10 schools belong in the top 25 and I'm a Big 10 fan.
25. Rutgers - Should be at least # 20 moving Cal to 24
