My second go. Modified Scott's order. Edited version plus second rounder should be coming during either my Tuesday or Thursday Philosophy class.

Round two ADDED

Mock Draft
Round 1

11.Oakland Raiders - Desean Jackson, WR - CalBad teams can't afford to make luxury picks. Miami (Ginn) being a good example of this.

I'm switching gears on my 1st round OL stance. We need help. With the top DLs all gone, an OT here makes good sense.

I'm not a big fan Talib but you did address the right need for GB

If we're going to draft a DT in the top 5, it has to be Glenn Dorsey. Ellis isnt worth a top 5 pick IMO.

In that position, I'd try to trade down farther and take Malcom Kelly/Keith Rivers/Dan Connor/Malcom Jenkins

Sweet deal.

It could be a big reach, but all of our needs would pretty much be reaches here. I don't mind it

I don't like Brohm as a top 10 pick, give us Jackson or Baker there.

Jackson I can see but Baker is not really as good as some believe he is; I've watched him play plenty and I've never came away super impressed

I didn't want to make my mock work easy by arranging it to give you guys Dorsey. I tried to create a workable scenario and I'm glad your okay with it.

Do you have a problem with Brohm or QB in general? Matt Ryan? Baker for RT? I think there would be better true RTs.

Loadholt is an intriguing pick for KC.If he leaves OU then I can see this pick happening

I've never been a fan of trading up in the 1st round, but disregarding that, Matt Ryan would be a great heir to Garcia.

Justin King is a nice pick. He is still a little raw, but he will fill in as our future #2 CB and will probably play most of his first season in the nickle, so I can't complain.

No Harvey?

I'd be fine will Gholston if Groves and Harvey were gone or if they didn't come out, good pick

Yeah I like DeSean Jackson a lot but Raiders need help on the D-line or O-line

Thank you for not giving the Packers a RB. While RB could be a need, it is still very early for Wynn and Jackson, plus I don't think Thompson would take a RB in the first round. I was surprised he even took one in the 2nd last year. He's a proud man, and won't give up on Brandon Jackson that quickly. CB or S is the way to go for the Packers in round one. Well done.

as much as I love phillips he is not a top 3 pick

A trade back would be best there with all of the QB and RB on the board

That's easy to say, but why would anybody trade up with you? Minnesota doesn't need to trade in front of Atlanta because Brohm or Ryan will fall to them. Nobody needs to jump in front of Dallas for McFadden especially not up to 3. There aren't a lot of teams needing a RB. It would be hard for you guys to move down in that scenario.

Who would you pick if you couldn't move down then?

Finsfan79
10-15-2007, 01:31 PM
Well depending on the QB they covet they might move up to snag Woodson or another. Happens plenty of times as dont assume all equal. But I understand the reasoning there. Or Atlanta could move up for McFadden themselves (they do have a need at RB) or the Jets or Dallas might feel pressure to do so because of one of the other two mentioned.

As for whom I would take there if you cant trade out, I would take BPA reguardless of position. Whomever is the best player in the draft you take them when you are that high. Mcfadden even though Ronnie is having a great year would give us a 1-2 punch to make folks scared and you could run him out wide as well easily. I am sure Cam would find some interesting ideas for the two of them.

That said I think miami ends up picking number 1 because we suck. If there is one thing we are good at it is sucking :(

Horrible Cowboys Draft - I don't mind the McFadden pick, but we MUST get a Corner or FS in the 1st round of this draft.

1 out of 2 is considered horrible?

I've heard them screaming for a NT. I've heard Hamlin is playing pretty decent. He could possibly be signed for a couple more years. But I'll take note.

We could use a NT, but Okam has 2 problems - 1) he's not a 3-4 1-Gap NT and 2) He's the most overrated player in this years draft.

Hamlin is "decent" but way to reminiscent (sp) of Roy Williams. We need a ball hawk who can play great in the zone coverage as well as man up against a slot or TE one-on-one.

Other needs include:
Offensive Playmaker (RB/WR)
Physical CB (6'0 200lb who can shutdown his side of the field)
Ballhawking FS (Good in Zone and a nose for the ball)
3-4 1-Gap NT (Ferguson's replacement if Tank doesn't prove anything)
Mammoth Road Grading OG (Kosier's replacement)
Backup C (2nd day need, but we have no depth behind Gurode)

I don't see us investing 2 1st round picks in the secondary (apparently we only do that with LB'ers) so I'd put a Physical CB at the Top of my list and either give the FS job to Watkins or move Glenn back there. However at 1a I don't think there's anyone worth that pick. If Phillips is there, I think we have to take him. If he's not, go BPA (McFadden is a dream imo)

With 1b - There won't be a safety worth picking, so someone like a Jenkins, Kent or Talib fits the bill.

Again - this is just my opinion...

Greene has 1 PD and 1 INT so far this year... I haven't watched him but he doesn't strike me as a Ball Hawk nor a 2nd round pick... What are you seeing in him that you like? Is he great in zone? Do QB's throw away from him? Not being sarcastic, just hoping you can educate me a little

Nice pick, but I might prefer a DE if there is a good one available.

So I've made a fatal flaw by forgetting a certain player. Funny how no one has mentioned it. Technically I could be correct because he is a junior, but I meant to include him.

For the Titans...

Earl Bennett is a great pick. Malcolm Kelly would be great as well.

Pressley is ok, but if Martin Rucker is available in the second, I'm on my hands and knees praying that we pick him. Our TE's are average at best, yet are more important to our offense than WR's. Rucker is my favorite TE in the draft, and would be an upgrade over our current group. The kid would thrive in Tennessee.

A Perfect Score

Tennessee Titans Draft
1st Round: Earl Bennett: Just an ok pick based on who you have going after him. I really don't see us picking Bennett because we need to upgrade out offensive speed and Bennett doesn't help that. A better pick imo is Malcolm Kelly, who I believe is the second best WR behind DeSean Jackson. Upgrades team speed, great possession reciever and isn't scared of going over the middle

2nd Round: DeMario Pressley: A fine pick and I would have made it as well, if we didn't have a more pressing need elsewhere, especially on offense. We don't have a game breaking TE. Ben Troupe is a shell of his former self, and Bo Scaife is nothing special. Martin Rucker would help open up the offense for Vince and would add another element that we don't have.

Love the Giants picks, we're old at corner, and linebacker is a glaring need as well.
