Yeah it was. The setups for next season are just awful, and outside of basically any scene with Russell, Eric and Jessica/Hoyt, it was just excruciating. This episode almost puts me off from being interested in season 4.

Yea, the story in Entourage was actually not terrible, but how they carried it out was god awful (except for Ari and Mrs. Ari).

Also, wtf 10 episode season? I mean, Entourage has been bad but at least they could fill a season. They must really be struggling.

And what are they going to do to write off Scott? He's supposed to be in the the new Hawaii 5-0. Is he going to do both now? I really thought they'd get him out in the finale.

Btw, ef all of you who mocked me when I said at the beginning of the season Vince had/would develope a drug problem because "one week of doing drugs doesn't lead to having a problem" or some bs.

Giantsfan1080

Early reviews have been kind to The Event so we'll see. They ackowledged that they won't keep stringing people along and it will give answers to the questions that arises. FlashForward ended up being a good show but everyone refuses to admit it because nobody stuck it out. It was sort of like Parks & Rec that everyone killed here but now all you hear are good things mostly.

I'm with you. I still really enjoyed the second half of FlashForward and thought it got a lot better. I knew it was going to be canned, but the second half of the season was a hell of a lot more entertaining than the first.

I generally like these kind of shows. Lost did absolutely nothing for me. I thought it was pretty stupid from day one, so here is to hoping that The Event piques my interests.

I was saying that sometimes you need to let a show grow instead of throwing into the bust pile. I wasn't saying FlasForward was as good a show as Parks & Rec. I think I was one of the only people here defending the show early on mostly because of how great Aziz Ansari is.

I have no personal stake in the success of any given TV show but the first few episodes of FlashForward were so insultingly horrible that I was glad when it got cancelled.

It could have been The Wire in the second half and I would still feel that way.

Only 1 character per show. We'll have to go somewhere else to find a girl. I nominate Jules.

I like Jules, but she does not belong in a league with Ron Swanson, Abed and Taco. I'd go with Jane Lynch's character off of Glee (you can hate Glee all you want, but you must recognize that Jane Lynch is amazingly awesome in it).

Boardwalk Empire was exquisite, I didn't know they'd be bringing in actual historical gangsters. Suppose I should have figured that out though. Great premiere, can't wait for more. Probably deserves its own thread.

I'm not quite sure why they killed the ridiculous Chicago boss...my only guess is to make room for the young up and comers like Capone? Or they somehow pinned the entire incident on him? He was in the room, after all.

They rip people off more than the Pawn Star guys. I remember watching one episode when they were buying movie posters for about 15-20 a pop and they sell for over 250 a piece.

The Pawn Star guys are a little more legit and actually have experts in to give proper appraisals. If the customer doesnt like the guys offer, they can move on...but they know what they're sitting on. The American Picker guys just low ball everyone, knowing very well what some things are worth. The people they're dealing with, in a lot of cases...have no idea how much things are worth. So they turn in huge profits.

Then the guy should have had them appraised first. They don't put a gun to anyone's head. The guy wanted to sell, didn't know the price, sold anyways.
It isn't like they are using tricks. They just throw out a price.

I dont know how legit the filming of American Pickers is, but a lot of time they just go to random places...without warning. And they travel long distances so they dont really have the time to wait on people. So if they're just dropping in, it's pretty tough to wait on a appraisals. They know what they're doing...I def. think it's a tad more shady then Pawn Stars.

I'll tell you what, though. I'd in no way trade a car or something big like that to the Pawn Star guys. They always rip people off there.

M.O.T.H.
09-21-2010, 12:46 AM
It's more stupidity on the sellers front. But still, the Pickers catch a lot of these people off guard. So the seller may think they're getting a good deal, when in reality they're getting hosed. And by the look of a lot of the people they're buying from...those people could probably use that money more. It's all a little sketchy.

I'm just saying some of the prices they throw out there are incredibly on the low side. And they know very well that they're ripping some people off.

Chuck got a 2.1 which was pretty much expected, so meh on that.

The Event got a 3.7, but we'll have to wait and see how many people it retains for next week.

Lone Star got a terrible 1.3 and for a series premiere in prime-time with the House lead in, that is downright awful. Not even sure I'll watch the pilot I have dvr'd now.

Hawaai Five-O got a 3.8, and I've heard a lot of good things, so I might have to check it out.

Wow at Lone Star though. With a solid lead in from House only pulling a 1.3 is scary. I wonder if they'll even finish the ordered episodes.

I'm excited about watching The Event tonight when my cable box unscrews itself. I've heard good things from a lot of people, and the ratings for the premiere were solid. And I'm excited about Chuck of course.

We're talking about the American Revolution in one of my classes, and I really wish I could watch John Adams again.

I have the box set and I need to rewatch it. Great mini series.

I watched most of Hawaii 5-0 last night, and all I can say is meh. Love that it has Jin, Sharon, and Tweeder, but the dialogue was incredibly dull and forced, and it's too soon to accept Jin with a Hawaiian accent. That said, hopefully it improves/was just an issue with the pilot episode.

Also, I can't wait to watch Running Wilde. It's about time Gob got his own show. And yes I do mean Gob, not Will Arnett.

Grace Park is so retardedly hot it almost makes me want to watch Hawaii 5-0. And I actually don't mind Scott Caan. But I hate cop shows, so I probably wont watch it.

1. Yes on Grace Park. The only thing hotter is Grace Park in a bikini. Yay.

2. The problem I had was Scott Caan wasn't very Scott Caan in the pilot. I'm hoping that it's just because it's the pilot, but he just didn't establish any personality and his lines were very sub par. Hopefully they make his character more like his normal characters, but the pilot didn't really inspire any hope.

And yea, it's basically going to be NCIS/CSI/whatever in Hawaii.

I ended up not watching any TV last night. Cable box was being wonky and wouldn't load the stuff I had dvr'd.

I've heard good things about the Chuck episode so far, but haven't heard anything about The Event except what CC.SD posted. Anyone else catch The Event or last nights House episode? What'd you think?

I thought the Event was pretty solid for a pilot episode. Still too many questions to be answered but it has me intrigued. More so than Flash Forward did from the onset.

The big decision for me continuing to watch it will be how much they explain in the next episode. They still left you dark in the pilot, and if they plan on dragging it out for the whole season it'll be awful.

I also didn't like the format of the episode, as fenikz kind of alluded to. Hopefully it doesn't stay that way.

From what little I saw of the House season premiere before I fell asleep I thought they'd shot their bolt plotswise. The weird cases they have to diagnose are still interesting but their stock characters were a big p/o of the show's hook, & they're kind of meh after so many yrs on the air.

The scripts needed to step it up after last yr. so we get the inevitable hookup Of House with Cuddy, BFD, they dated once in college so it's nothing new.

It looks like their best remaining eye candy character, Olivia Wilde as 13, is departing too. I predict some new characters introduced later or some wild unforeseen plot twists if they want to remain the #1 primetime drama -- Hugh Laurie's magnetism can hold it together only so long.

I was intrigued by The Event enough to tune in and watch it again next week. Wasn't blown away or drawn in by any means but it was good enough to get a couple more looks.

Pretty much my thoughts.

Putting anything above 4 is a sin.

I love season 4, but Season 1 is probably always going to be my favorite. I just love the buildup and getting to know Avon and his crew. Wee Bey is one of my favorite characters. I also thoroughly enjoyed Lester in season 1, the episode where he first takes charge and gets D's pager number is one of my favorite episodes of the series. Season 1 is also the season that makes me the least upset at Herc.

HBO already renewed Boardwalk Empire for a second season, seeing as how their premiere episode was their biggest in over six years.

To be honest, I find it a bit odd you hate a show this much after (maybe?) watching the pilot and yet you were a fan of Lost. It's also only the pilot.. you can't base a series off the pilot. Oh well, lol.

*shrugs*

I don't have hate, I just think the whole show is a marketing ploy. Pilots are used to judge whether or not a series should go to air at all, I'm gonna judge em vidae!

That thing was a mess. literally just a series of disconnected scenes with bad dialogue and characters, based around the idea that people would come back because it is literally impossible to make sense of? It stinks of manipulation and is just bothering me for some reason. I'll probably keep it on the Tivo and watch a bunch in a row if it picks up.

Because the Lost pilot was a goddamn masterpiece.

I think people forgot why Lost pilot was so epic when they tried to do shows like The Event and Flash Foward. It was epic because it didn't start out as a 'questions' show, but rather it was this insanely frantic plane crash with crazy **** going on all over the place.

Season one was mostly about the survivors trying to...survive, and the beginning of the "unexplainable" element to the show.

I know Brodeur is a Lost fan boy, but I think most people agree that Lost started to become tedious when it's emphasis went on to the fantasy aspect of the show.

It wasn't the unexplainable that made Lost awesome (for a time), it was the characters and the way they interacted.
