Alright, this is how its going to go down. We start with a person a team but when you ask for a team, put down if you would be willing to take two teams, than put down two you would also like to manage. I will put out rankings, probably the last espn power rankings, and we will use those to base progress for the end, because when we're done with the offseason, myself and the trade commish's will make a new rankings, then simulate the playoffs and world series.

There will be a depth chart thread, try to keep it posted after every thing you do. 25 man roster, decided who you want to bring up to the majors and who you are sending down and what not.

Free-Agency:
We will have three trade commishs, not including myself. There will be a head trade commish, Patriots-Lions, and you must get a trade accepted from him and one other commish. you can not get one accepted by two trade commish without PL's permission. When free agency does start, you will send those into me, and i may get a free agency commish also. We will take into effect how a team usually spens money. Ex: the indians wont go after a-rod. Also if the player would be interested in coming to the city, the team you control will dictate how you get free-agents. I have yet to decide when free agency will start

Trade Commish:

you can have the angels

25 man roster by the way

you can call up minor leaguers wheneve ryou want, or you can just show key players you have or required if you want, to show your minor league, or if you really want, i guess you can do a minor league depth chart

yeah, or you can fill out or your own, if you think people should be in the minors leave them off, and bring up some if you want

DChess
10-24-2007, 10:06 PM
there will be no arbitration, too difficult to do with these types of things

and yes, there will be a short time for teams to resign there own players, that doesnt mean they will automatically sign with you. they're gonna have to be realistic offers

also PL is working a FA list. that will give people an idea of their situation

Also, I'm not going to call up or realease some players until after I sign players and make trades.

well, if they have a team option the user can pick if they want to sign the person for that much. if its a player option we will decide if they will opt out or no. probably only big names, ala arod, we will have opt out

I'm waiting until all teams have GM's to announce trades. Your trade can't be processed because Kansas City has not yet picked up the Player Option on the player being traded.

When a player is first called up to the big leagues he is on a series of one year contracts until he is arbitration eligible, which is after three years. So you're right, he's not a free agent.

I have a question about free agency. If we give all of our players who are free agents very reasonable contracts, will we be able to keep all of them considering the Yankees have 4 very important FA's? Also, Pettite has a player option for 2008.

As we have done in Ward's NFL Mock offseasons, when you submit a contract offer, you should include reasoning to why the player will or should sign with your team. Posting links to stories indicating that the players is considering or favoring your team is a big plus. If you submit a fair offer with plenty of reasoning and links to back it up, you'll likely get that player.

As far as Pettitte is concerned, I took him off the list of free agents because it is well known that he is either going to pitch for the Yankees next year, or not at all. Me and DChess will let you know shortly on what we decide. If you have any information on which way he is leaning towards, then e-mail us and we'll take it into consideration.

That doesn't just go for Pettitte, but all players with Player Options. To make it easier on DChess and myself, we made all players that had options free agents. However, if you can convince us that there is a strong, realistic possibility that the player picks up his option, then we'll listen.

I think A-Rod is going to be the exception. Since there is A LOT more evidence and speculation that he will opt out than there is that he will stay, he's going to be a free agent. Obviously the whole 'Yankees won't pursue him if he opts out" will NOT be enforced and they will certainly have a fair chance at resigning him.

When a player is first called up to the big leagues he is on a series of one year contracts until he is arbitration eligible, which is after three years. So you're right, he's not a free agent.

The site that Giantsfan1080 posted is a fantastic site, but unless you have a great understanding of MLB contracts and the arbitration system, it might confuse you. I'm sorry, but that Cabrera trade just threw realism out the window. I'm all for that, but I thought you guys weren't.
Explain how it is so unrealistic. First of all, Miguel Cabrera is on the block and there is a good chance he is traded in real life. The Marlins take on Blalock's salary for only one year, and his salary can be dumped after the 2008 season. Kameron Loe is a solid SP/RP who still has some potential and could do well in the NL. Saltalamacchia is a young stud at a valuable position. The only thing we felt that was unrealistic was Texas trading Salty so soon after they got him. However, we thought the value was fair and Cabrera being traded is realistic.
