Every year only so many QBs can make it in the league as rookies due to vets sticking around. Which vets do you see being done and opening up spots for rookies? My list is

Vinny Testaverde
Trent Green
Brett Favre
Brad Johnson
Trent Dilfer
Kerry Collins
Steve McNair
Charlie Batch

Any more?

Brunell maybe.
Maybe David Carr if he sux the big on in Carolina.

dare i say Marc Bulger if he keeps getting pummled (jk)

Brad Johnson will probably stay nother season IMO. nothing wrong with sitting behind Romo, he's the second best QB they have.

I don't see Favre retiring after this season. Especially since the Packers are doing well.

I don't know much about the other QB's, since they're all ancient backups. As for Collins, I don't think he'll retire. I think this is the last year of his contract, but he won the Titans a game this season and can still play.

Favre has the perfect situation to retire. He should play however deep into the playoffs we get then immeadiately after the loss announce his retirement. He can then play once last time in the Probowl and then hang them up (somewhat)on top.

Maybe this will send the message. Although that would mean either Dan Orlovsky or Drew Stanton as the Lions backup QB. Eww.

I think Grossman is young enough someone will allow him to be their backup QB much like teams do with Joey Harrington

And btw I pray to God every night that Steve McNair will announce his retirement after week 17, when we miss the playoffs.

Is he missing the game this week for "soreness" again? or did he just not practice all week and he's gonna try to play? lol

Daunte Culpepper......
How did this guy ever put up MVP caliber numbers? Oh yeah, he had Randy Moss.

Vinny Testaverde

We say this every year, but some how some way...

WRONG! This is one of the most common mistakes made by uninformed people. Culpepper's best year was '04 (4717 PYDs, 39 TDs, 406 RYDs), which was Moss' worst year as a Viking (49 Rec, 767 YDs). Make sure you know you're right before you say something like this. That's not to say that Culpepper won't be gone next year. He very well may be.

out of the nfl, not sure... out of a starting job?

- Tavaris Jackson
- Rex Grossman
- J.P. Losman
- Cleo Lemon (Beck > Lemon)

Also: is Drew Brees in trouble in New Orleans? He's not been doing so well [/understatement]

I think Batch will hang around for another 4-5 years...He's in a great situation with the Steelers...and he's always productive for them in reserve duty.

I would be shocked if Testaverde comes back..haha...He's just so old..

David Carr will retire to work on his male model career.

He has no business behind center.

we should replace them...

Reggie Ball and Isaiah Stanback anyone?

Isaiah Stanback anyone?

Being serious, I think he could have a good career at QB. Probably a better one at WR, but he will be in the spotlight someday.

I still think he might, so he can go out on top. However we have a very young team and shouldn't really lose anyone to FA. Corey Williams is the biggest FA we have and I think we'll keep him. Make a move for a RB and it may be to good for him to pass up.

i saw somewhere someone mentioned out of a starting job so lets expand this:

cleo lemon
daunte culpepper
marc bulger?
whoever starts for atl rite now
brian griese
derek anderson - not lose his starting job, just maybe start on a new team
tarvaris jackson - hes to young to give up on, maybe bring in a vet for a year or two or maybe even a rook?

I wonder what will happen to Anderson. If hte guy keeps playing at this level it would be stupid to trade him and hope Quinn turns out to be better, but you never know with the way Brees/Rivers turnoued out.

As for Jackson the guy's a second rounder so the team had alot less invested in him and won't keep him around longer than they think they should like with a 1st. I don't know what the sucess rate is for 2nd rounders but its gotta be whole lot lower than 1st and Im sure teams know this.

People always use this as an arguement for quinn. the difference is it's san diego and cleveland. Chargers would be at least an average team with any starting qb playing for them.

Browns, not so much, they are where they are right now because of anderson.

I've got it. Still wanting a qb who would resemble c pep in his prime, the Vikings bring in derek Anderson and cut tj, Anderson proceeds to set the NFL record for most ints in a season while Travaris getz picked up by atl and beats out Brohm for the starting spot, becoming the qb vick never became.

Derek Anderson...

HOW THE HELL IS HE DOING GOOD IM SO CONFUSED.Derek Anderson is the next Drew Brees (except Anderson is 6'6 229, and Brees is 6'0 209), just watch.

He's also created the next "Phillip Rivers situation"--- the whole package, with the resurrected bust QB making the touted first-rounder QB sit for two years (I say two years because that's when Anderson will come off his RFA tender).

Unless somebody says he retiring for good, I don't think you can count om any QB's leaving. Once injuries to starting QB's start to pile up, veterans can always find jobs as replacements at pretty good money.

no love
11-02-2007, 03:17 PM
I would love for Farve to stay on ANOTHER year. That is one more year into Aaron Rodgers career. Thats one year closer till he hits free agency so that the Niners can pick up the QB I was hoping that they would take. He is currently in year 3 of 5. Next year would be 4 of 5.

Ok I am just being ridiculous.
