I think most of us have done this. Pretty much we're all gonna vote on the player each team should get. No trading just picks. Just 3 rounds. There will be a 30 min time limit for each pick (not starting yet though)

Is that order SOS consistant? I don't believe that it is. Might want to take who is leading to make the playoffs into consideration too.

I don't care about the order... So let's get started!!!!!!!!!

For Miami, my vote goes to...

Jake Long: My reasoning is that I want to piss Dolphins fans off.

Edit: Nevermind, my pick is Dorsey

Glad to see this mock is being taken seriously. Glenn Dorsey has to be the pick. We gave up another 130 yards rushing this week to Brandon Jacobs. Run D is the biggest weakness in Miami and Dorsey is the best D player in the draft.

Fine, I'll edit it and give you guys Dorsey. I still think Jake Long would help you guys, but Dorsey is more of a need.

Jake Long would help us no doubt. He would help all 32 NFL teams but when have you ever seen a RT drafted number 1 overall? The pick for Miami would eventually come down to Dorsey, McFadden for simply being the best player in the draft or a QB (Ryan, Brohm) if Beck plays horribly for the rest of the season. Dorsey is by far the bigger need and even if Beck plays bad, it's hard to see a team with so many needs wasting a high pick on a QB in back to back seasons. Dorsey is just the logical choice.

Joeyjr09
10-29-2007, 01:38 AM
There will be a 30 min time limit for each pick

A time limit makes no sense on message boards as no single person will be on here to keep track of the time limit and make sure this keeps going. The way to do it is to make it so that the player must be named 5 times to win the vote. For instantance. Right now there is two votes for Dorsey and one for McFadden. 3 more votes makes Dorsey the pick and 4 more votes makes McFadden the pick. Makes it easier for everyone to keep track of and usually makes the voting more effecient instead of counting time and trying to figure out which team is supposed to be picking.

My pick is for Dorsey though I'm reluctant to do that being that Cam Cameron is a offensive coach. We all saw what happened with Ginn.....

SuperKevin

Miami would probably take Dorsey because of their atrocious run defense. the only issue is how does he fit in their hybrid defense when they go 3-4?

If Jake Long is the consensus #1 lineman, I would think the Rams would have to go that route. Pace is nearing the end, and I'm not exactly sold on Alex Barron as a legit LT. Long may not be a great LT either, but O-line is a serious need.

Maybe Clady or one of the other cats jumps Long for the top of the OT crop. Either way, I'd vote for a tackle here.

Chris Long is another possibility.

How does what happened with Ginn even remotely relate to the Dorsey pick?

Last year going into the draft we had the number 4 overall defense in the NFL. Offense was our weak point. This year we have one of the bottom 5 defenses in the NFL and our offense has been playing better.

Last year we passed on an offensive player (Quinn) to get another offensive player (Ginn). How is that the same as passing on Dorsey to get Long?

Almost every player rumored to Miami last year was on offense. Quinn, Peterson, Ginn, Brown. Okoye was really the only defensive player that was rumored. This year it's all defense that has been talked about so far. Campbell, Phillips, Dorsey, Chris Long. Jake Long has really been the only offensive player talked about.

Cam Cameron being an offensive coach means nothing. He has no say in the final decisions. Randy Mueller is the guy that makes the picks.

two completely different situations between this year and last year. The Dolphins draft will be heavy on defense this year.

Joeyjr09

I'll take Jake Long to the Rams to replace Pace at LT.

i don't know if Long is a surefire LT and definatley not sure if he's capable of replacing arguably the best LT in recent years. The Rams also have a very weak defense, especially a pass rush as aging vet James Hall is leading the team in sacks. A player like Chirs Long or Calais Campbell could be a huge boost. I give the edge to Chris Long because after the selection of Adam Carriker last year, it's obvious this team likes blue collar, hard working players on the defensive line

Joeyjr09

Ok so that's 5 votes for Long, so looks like he's the Rams pick.

Someone should keep a count on this. So far it's:
Glenn Dorsey to Miami Dolphins
Jake Long to the St Louis Rams

For the Jets, I'll say Darren McFadden. Running game isn't their biggest weak point but McFadden is the BPA and a decent need.

I cannot say this emphatically enough, Brohm doesn't have top 15 value, he will NOT go in the top 5 to the Falcons. Way too much money.

WILL NOT.

With that my vote goes to Andre Woodson.

Brohm 4
Woodson 2
As of turtlepower's vote

What is it about Brohm that turns people off to him?
I really dont understand it at all, he may not have top 5 value but he already has a head start on the playbook and i feel is this year's AJ Hawk of QB's (A safe pick with good upside)

AJ Hawk is very talented, and one could argue he's been a bit of a dissapointment.

There's just nothing about Brohm that stands out, he hasn't had a very good year, and his talent is good but not great.

I think the worst argument is that he knows the playbook. Remember when Steve Spurrier coached the Redskins and signed all of his ex-Florida players? How'd that work out?

Wins-wise its been a bad year, but the Defense is complete crap this year.

Woodson:
63% completion
7.2 YPA
270 yards a game
28TD's
7INT's

Brohm:
68%
8.8
350 yards a game
26TD's
7INT's

I think that when you factor in Kentucky's tougher sched they even out

Joeyjr09
10-29-2007, 07:29 PM
So It looks like Lauraniatis and Phillips are the leaders with two votes and 3 votes respectively. Considering the Pats took Meriweather in the 1st last year and still have an effective Rodney Harrison, I think LB will be bigger need sooner although adding a safety later would be nice. Both are slight reaches in my eyes but Lauraniatis fits the better need in my eyes so he's the pick.

Joeyjr09

I'll say Campbell. With Smith likely gone and this being a LB heavy draft, they can add one in rd 2 that will be pretty good.

I think that makes the count

Campbell- 3
Conner- 3
Jackson- 2

Correct me if I'm wrong, lots of confusing posts for the Bengals.

I vote Kenny Phillips.... safety has been the downfall of our defense this season and with Kenny Phillips being the only impact safety in this draft, it is too tough to pass up. OLine and a QB can be found later on. Kenny Phillips makes this team better right now more then any other pick.

Joeyjr09
10-29-2007, 09:59 PM
I'll vote for Matt Ryan, He is probably the best QB in the draft and falls this far. Tough to pass that up. Makes alot of sense here.

Why the cheat shot at me just because Phillips is from the U? I could have easily picked him for the Bears, Falcons, Bengals, Patriots and many others teams that needed a safety even earlier. I felt Phillips was a better pick for the Texans then Baker, whats the problem with that?

Yea, tight race, it's now:

Obviously OLB is a bigger need as they are getting more votes but I think the split between Harvey and Gholston is allowing Jenkins to get a leg up. Well see how it goes. BTW..What are we doing with underclassmen? Just making them all the regulars (one that are usually in mocks) eligible I assume?

That doesn't make much sense to me. How does not having alot of CBs make it hard for them to get votes. I think it makes it alot easier. Teams in need of CBs will grab them earlier then LBs because their isn't as much CB depth as LB depth in the draft. However, this draft has more CB depth then recent years IMO
