I love steak. Always get mine cooked at medium.

Best steak I have ever had was at The Precinct in Cincinnati, a 4 star restaurant. All the athletes go here to eat. They have all kinds of autographed pics on teh wall of guys like Pete Sampras, Chad Johnson, Pete Rose, Oscar Robertson, etc. Expensive place though.

I like making mine own steak too though, much cheaper.

I love steak, but try to limit myself to about 1 a month for health reasons. I prefer to prepare them myself though. Saves a lot of money and allows you to fix it up just the way you like it. My favorite cut would have to be the rib eye, though top sirloin provides excellent value and is very good if prepared correctly.

I love steak and try to eat it at least once a week. I have my own grill and marinade, season, and cook my own stuff a lot. My parents sometimes send me Omaha Steaks, or I'll get a big pack from Whole Foods or a local butcher. I like my meat medium/medium rare.

I don't limit anything I eat. I exercise so much, that it doesn't matter to me right now.

I hate ribeye. Too much fat on it.

The place to have a steak is Ruth Chris' Steakhouse. There are only two in Canada and I was lucky to have someone buy me dinner from there. I had a Porterhouse (which are great steaks from the get go). It was a 4 pound steak, cooked and marinted in butter. Done medium. Dam, that was the best steak I ever had. Im lucky I didnt pay for it. It cost $104 for the steak a-la-carte.

I hate the place you really have to empty out your pocket, I went one time with 7 coworkers and the bill was $1,500. Granted there were many expensive wine bottles in there but still. There is a great Brazillian Steakhouse around my place and it's pretty amazing, I also go to outback every now and then but it's fairly average. I however have started to pick up on Kobe beef.

Everybody has their own preference, but ample marbling is the sign of a high quality steak. I like porterhouses, but it's really like eating two different cuts at once. That loin half is much more tender than the strip end of it. I'd rather just cut through the BS and get a filet.

Am I the only one that doesnt really like A-1 sauce? I think it can make a $50 steak taste exacty like a $7 steak.

I love medium rare NY strip.

I went to ESPN zone and had a NY strip there it was good.

In general I hate steak sauce period, I just love the taste of a natural steak, obviously with some spices and herbs and whatnot but I hate steak sauce, though personally I'd rather eat a bomb ass burger than a good steak.

Yeah, save the A1 for something else. All a good steak needs is a little kosher salt and fresh cracked pepper. Maybe a little garlic butter or a quality blue cheese if you're trying to mix it up a bit. No sense in spending good money on a nice cut of beef just to muck it up with vinegar and tomato paste. All you want to do to a steak is add a little something to complement that beef flavor. Not mask it.

Ketchup? Maybe on meatloaf but I'd never put ketchup on a quality steak, but hey "whatever floats your boat"-I just wanted to always use that phrase.

I'm a medium rare ribeye guy myself.

One of the more fun steak places I've been to was in San Diego. Gaslamp Strip Club. Play on words with strip steak and actual strippers. Although the waitresses are dressed rather provacatively. Anyway its a make your own steak place. They have all the different cuts marinated for days. You and your buddies can huddle over the open grill and have drinks and cook your own steaks. Then all the sides (potatoes, veggies, etc) are all family style.

Not a big fan of A1 personally, a good steak shouldn't need any sauce. If it's kinda dry or not seasoned very well I'll use some A1. I prefer to make my own steaks though.

Vince's winning steak recipe!
-Your choice of cut
-add a decent amount of kosher salt and fresh cracked pepper on each side
-top with fresh minced garlic, fresh chopped thyme and olive oil
-let marinade for about an hour

-sear each side of the steak in a preheated skillet
-finish cooking to your liking in the oven or on the grill
**don't over handle the cut, give it time to cook on each side and it should be good. you don't need to constantly flip it
**try not to cut or puncture the steak while it's cooking or you'll lose the juices. use a small meat thermometer to test to see if it's done, don't cut it to look! eventually you'll just kind of know when they're done.

-when steaks are done put them on a plate and cover with tinfoil, allow steaks to sit for 5-10 minutes to "lock" in the juices

-enjoy!

Sucks being a broke-ass college student. I haven't had one in forever.

I'm a NY strip man myself. Throw some dry rub on it and throw it on the grill. Medium.

That's some excellent advice, Vince. The most common mistakes people seem to make are puncturing or cutting into their meat before it's had time to rest, and failing to bring their meat to room temp before putting it in the skillet/on the grill. The importance of both those things can't be overstated.

I agree with the cheese whiz, but I wouldn't put ketchup on. It's unnecessary for me with the cheese, mushrooms and onions.

Also, the best steak sauce is Peter Lueger. You can get it in the supermarket where I live, I'm not sure about elsewhere though.
