DENVER (TICKER) -- The Denver Broncos (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/den/;_ylt=AsFO_hr4eGKfHjZgrf8edcALubYF) released defensive end Simeon Rice (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/3549/;_ylt=Avta4u4baSI8duI9hn4BtrQLubYF), the team announced on Friday.

The 12-year veteran did not record a sack in six games played - one start while making only 11 tackles.

Does anyone think that he'll sign on with another team? IMO, he's going to retire.

So glad the Giants didn't sign him. I think he'll catch on somewhere else for the rest of the season

He has always been known as just a pass rusher and if he can't get to the QB why would any one want him?

I can't think of a team that would sign him.

I think this is the end of the line for him. I can't see another team signing him.

I disagree.

We have a lot of young players stepping up at DE and Marinelli has spent his time here building 'his' team. Adding Simeon Rice to the mix might set us back.

He would have to pass a physical and accept league min at this point. Both of which are probably not likely.

Strange to say the least. Jarvis Moss is done for the season, you'd think they would at least keep Rice for pass-rushing situations opposite Elvis Dumervil. Granted, a poor run defense doesn't lead to many pass-rushing situations.

Oakland should sign him if the price is right.

I doubt he would play for you guys without a contract.

Colts have claimed him

Excellent move by the Colts imo, to get Rice at the veteran minimum for the remainder of this season. Especially if Dwight Freeney has to miss a few weeks.

Claimed him, so he makes the 3 mil he was signed to, unless thats the veterans min, which I don't think he is

The Broncos are on the books for his $2.15M signing bonus, and the game checks they've paid thus far obviously.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this move.

I hope he's motivated and contributes, especially if Freeney has to miss time.

If he doesn't work, oh well... but, if he does, it'll be huge for your defense.

That will be ridiculous is Rice plays well for the colts. But i guess it will be the rich getting richer. The scheme is perfect for Rice, the situation is perfect, if he can't succeed on the Colts he is done.

He won't be playing a full starter's snaps, obviously. He'll rotate in when he can use his pass-rushing skills to effect.

Colts have good depth at DE.

I've always liked Josh Thomas and I believe that he has the ability to start in the NFL. He's not great at anything, but he also doesn't really have a clear weakness.

Jeff Charleston and Keyunta Dawson are good backups as well, though I think Dawson got injured against the Chargers also.

Even if Rice doesn't play well, Colts should be fine at DE.

adding to this, it turns out he asked the broncos to release him. that makes a little more sense now.

simeon rice was our second best DE this season. he didn't notch a sack because shanahan and bates refused to play him. yet again our coaches are idiots.

Uhh, Rice wasn't that great even when he played. He was HORRIBLE against the run. Plus, he was a freakin locker room cancer.
He wasn't anything special and there was no reason to keep him.
Heck, Tim Crowder did more in these past 3 weeks that Rice did all year.

bump

He got released by the colts per espn. It looks like the end of the road for him.
