yeah, i think ohio state should be behind ASU. Illinois was unranked. Oregon on the other hand was thought of by some as the best 1-loss team.

I don't understand how when the SEC beats up on each other it's because it's a great conference but when the Big Ten does it's because they suck

BYU better than Illinois is ridiculous.

I also don't think Hawaii would have any chance against LSU. Therefore, they should not be ranked higher than a team like Kentucky.

I do agree that Illinois should be ranked though. At least at 25 over Penn State.

I dont think BYU should be ranked unless they go 10-2, until then, leave them at the 26 spot. I just feel that way due to them playing in the MWC

And I agree with GB12, head to head (or in this case, projected head to head) isnt always an indicator of teams ranking

They never deserved to be 13th in the first place. The AP voters realize how dumb they are and they have to make up for it and it is why there is so much variance in the polls this year.

That's just ridiculous reasoning.

I agree that it is very different reasoning, but it is very applicable in my opinion.

I mean put one team in another team's shoes. Thats what I would do to determine if Hawaii should be ranked ahead of Kentucky. I'm sorry, but I don't think Hawaii could beat Arkansas, South Carolina (great pass defense), LSU, or Florida.

That puts them at 6-4 likely. Not better than Kentucky.

Could Kentucky be undefeated with Hawaii's schedule? Is that even a question.

No. This team in no way deserves to be ranked ahead of Kentucky.

bc lost and dropped to 8; everyones been questioning osu and if they deserve to be #1; this was a loss to an unranked at home, plus it confirms that osu struggles against the spread

People will just claim tOSU was looking ahead to Michigan.
Not to mention tOSU is defiantly more loved than BC.

I can't believe Oregon and Kansas are in the top 5 let alone making a run at the championship. Both these teams are undermanned when it comes to talent/recruiting compared to schools like USC, OSU, Oklahoma, Florida, LSU.

Just making there is a moral victory in and of itself.

Na, unless Oklahoma loses next week, and then goes onto beat Kansas or Missouri, and then LSU or Oregon would have to lose. A lot of things would need to happen.

Who cares about current ranking? Illinois is a good team, and it wasn't because they struggled against the spread, it was they struggled against the run. Although that has nothing to do with ranking.

Illinois is on the same level Kentucky is. Yes people aren't holding that against LSU. Cal is going to be ranked far lower than Illinois, yet people aren't holding that against Oregon. It's just the timing of the loss.

I think the only ones with a real shot are Oregon (pretty much a lock), LS (1 tough game in the SEC championship, and Oklahoma/Kansas. I don't think Missouri will have much of a shot.

Well you know the good thing about atheletics, it doesn't matter if no one else cares. Fans of all these traditional powers seem to be upset about how this season is playing out. Well tough luck. As of right now these non-traditional powers are the ones getting it done. Just accept that. There is no reason lash out with silly insults and ridiculous statements about these schools just because they aren't traditional powers. That's just petty and stupid. Why would it be any skin off my back if you don't care about Missouri, all that means is you are deciding to not care about one of the top teams in the nation. I guarantee you people will watch the NC and the BCS bowls regardless of who is in them.

And as for the gloating thing, I don't know what you are referring to. The only thing I can think of is my stating the the Big 10 is a bad conference, and I don't know why I would gloat about something that everyone in the nation, besides Big 10 fans, already knew.

You're aware that one of the biggest advantages of running the spread offense is that it's easier to run, right? The reason a lot of defenses struggle is that the offense spreads them out and takes advantage of the entire field, thereby opening bigger running lanes.

The Big 12 isn't out of the running just yet. Whoever wins out in the Big 12 could jump Oregon or even LSU if either slips even a little. Knowing the negative bias that exists about Pac 10 teams and the positive bias that exists about SEC teams, I could see Oregon getting screwed and being jumped by the Big 12 champion no matter what.
I can guarantee you this if and it is a big if, Kansas wins out and beats Oklahoma in the Big 12 championship and remains undefeated, they will be in the NC game. The NCAA can never permit one of their major conference champions who go undefeated to be excluded from the NCG in favour of a 1 loss team. The Big 12 would sue the NCAA and the BCS and college football as we know it could be rocked from top to bottom. Even the Pac 10 may sue if Oregon is jumped for no good reason and LSU gets to play the Big 12 champion. If Oregon gets jumped, it pretty well sends a signal that from the Pac 10 only USC will ever be permitted to enter the NCG with a 1 loss season.
It sure would be interesting if the Pac 10 or Oregon got an injunction to delay the NCG until it is decided by the courts who gets to play for the NC. Gotta believe that would force a playoff on the NCAA. Urban Meyer half indicated last year that if Florida was denied entry into the NCG, Florida might sue the NCAA.
Don't you all love it when politicking could now decide who is in and who is out, and play on the field means little?

No, they won't. We see it all the time. Boring matchups get no ratings. Matchups between 2 powers, that's all good, people will watch. What if it's an Oregon vs. Missouri matchup? Noone cares, there's no draw. The casual fan won't want to watch that game. Hell, I'd bet half the fans in America can't even name Missouri's mascot. Hell, I was talking to a friend the other day who didn't even know Kansas was undefeated. Point is, most people on here know about Missouri and how good they are. Casual fans don't.

You're gloating that OSU would have gotten blown out in the NC, which as I said, can now neither be disproven or proven.

Yes, boring matchups will get bad ratings. Missouri and Oregon are not boring teams, they are actually two of the most exciting teams in the nation. I am willing to bet that people know Missouri is the Tigers, but does that even really matter. As for your friend, he must not be too interested in sports if he didn't know Kansas was undefeated. I don't see why the NCAA should make a point to panter to fans that are ignorant to teams outside their conference. Anyways, good-bye Big 10, we may now have a good NC.

Well, you know what, if Missouri gets a BCS bowl and you don't want to watch because of who they are then don't watch. It's as simple as that, I always thought that atheletics was about determining who has the best team, not getting ratings. Besides the NBA of course. So don't watch if Missouri, Oregon, Kansas, or West Virginia makes the NC. Your the one who will be missing some great teams play. But if the names on the jerseys and the logos on the helmet are what gets your juices pumping, then just watch Florida St, Miami, USC, Michigan, and other traditional teams' bowls. Unfortunately for you you won't be watching games that mean a whole lot.
