After watching the LSU-Arkansas game, Ali Highsmith really stood out to me, he had over 15 tackles, and he could really run, he looked a little undersized, but is he worth a late first round pick?

He is undersized, but he plays bigger than his actual size.

I think he is worth a late first rounder. He's a slightly less athletic version of Ernie Sims.

A natural weakside LB with his 4.5 speed and pass rush ability. his speed allows him to track back and be a solid pass coverage. can play both sides. I agree about the late first round. His size is one of his issues but it should not effect him too much.

poor coverage skills, but very sure tackler. arkansas really exploited him on the wheel route to hillis.

Yeah they beat him several times on the play to the FB he never even turned to look at the ball.

i think he'll work really well as a terrel suggs esque player in the 3-4, but he could play in the 4-3 too.

He really looked like he could fill the hole and stuff the running backs for a loss as well, he seems like a very intriguing prospect to me

Really? He's extremely undersized for a 3-4 OLB, and hasn't shown the pass rush ability required for the position either. He seems to be primarily a weakside OLB in a 4-3, preferably a cover 2 type scheme which emphasis speed.

But can he shed blocks?

on some of those passes to the FB he had great position and turned his hips and ran with the guys fine, he just needs to do some work about when the ball is in the air. He's a great tackler and despite his lack of size is top notch in run support. LSU has big lineman so that could be helping that but even still I think he works good in a 4-3 weakside backer or cover 2.

I'd look for Highsmith in the Early-Mid 2nd for now. Tampa Bay, Minnesota, Buffalo, Indianapolis are just a handful of teams running the Cover 2 that could afford to take him in the 2nd Round. Of course his coverage skills would have to be improved, but he has the speed/athleticism to learn fairly quickly and be a force on special teams his rookie year. Also, the Bengals are desperate for talent/depth and speed at LB so with roughly the 40-45th Overall pick I would not be surprised to see them go Highsmith.

He is very quick as said. Could be a late 2nd-3rd rounder. Cover 2 as said as well. lol you guys are stealing my thunder!

Very early 2nd round pick. I don't see anyone late first round that could really use him.

if he can prove he actually cover he will get alot of looks as a Tampa2 weakside as well as potentially a middle in the same system.

With guys as athletic as him you have to really watch them to evaluate the plays they make off of reads and instincts as pure speed will usually make them look much better at this level then they would in the NFL. This is one of the reasons I have a hard time getting a grasp on how good he really is.

I think he's an early 2nd round guy, but there is a large bunch of linebackers in the 2nd-3rd round area. It wouldn't shock me to see the Giants sniff around him in the 1st round honestly.
