Sources close to both Les Miles and the LSU administration report the coach has reached a multi-year contract extension with his current school and will remove himself from consideration as the next Michigan coach.

Details of the extension are expected to be released by LSU, which has scheduled a 1:45 p.m. press conference prior to today's Southeastern Conference title game between the Tigers and Tennessee.

LSU will reportedly make Miles one of the highest-paid coaches in the country.

Making Les Miles one of the highest paid coaches in the country is dumb, but if they want to keep him that bad so be it.

Does this mean Tenuta is coming to LSU? It seemed like he had his heart set on following Les Miles.

Apparently Miles is irate at the fact that someone at U-M (presumably AD Bill Martin) leaked the news that he was going to accept an offer at Michigan today, the day of the SEC championship game.

I hear that Miles called U-M and told him he is no longer considering it, and then told his team he was staying at LSU.

If this is true, then I am pissed.

hahha if that's true, that's still pretty childish. If he doesn't accept now, he probably won't get the opportunity again in a verrry long time. Ala billy donovan.

I still think he will go, he's just saying this because the season is still going...If Michigan is his dream job he should take the offer, unless he wants to retire at LSU

I've now heard rumors that Miles turned Michigan down because they want to keep their current assistants and Miles wants to bring his own.

i think the whole "sign an extension" thing is a farce. he and LSU probably came up with that just so people would stop talking about him to Michigan for now.

Kelly is my #1 choice and Miles is my #2 choice. By all accounts, Michigan isn't looking at Kelly seriously. ESPNews reported that Greg Schiano, Jim Grobe, and Jeff Tedford are the leaders now. Ugh, the only one I wouldn't mind is Tedford.

I like Herbie, but he really dropped the ball on this one. You can't go on national television and report news like this, with no facts to back it up. Bill Martin apparently has not talked to Les Miles yet. Jon Tenuta also said today that he never spoke to Les Miles.

I don't think that Miles is 100% out of the picture based on some things I've read and heard. However, I think the chances are very, very slim.

I don't understand it either, as bf51 hit it on the head earlier. Plus, terribly overpaying him like one of the best coaches in college football only jacks up the price for everyone else.

If the goal is to win SEC Championships, then Les Miles is good to have, but if the goal is to win SEC Championships and National Championships, he's not the man to do it. LSU should be winning its second consecutive NC title this year, back-to-back, with the talent they have.

One thing I find interesting is that Miles never said he wasn't coming to Michigan or said anything about a contract extension. A lot of guys on Michigan's Scout board seem to think he's still going to meet with Bill Martin after the SEC Championship game and re-think the situation. Who knows now? Although, I will be pretty pissed if we sign Schiano. I'll take anyone that's not Ferentz or Schiano.

I don't blame you Ferentz or Schiano are not the answer for Michigan. As far as Miles I still have a feeling that he may end up there in the long run.

If LSU gets Tenuta or Muschamp as their Defensive Coordinators they will be scary good. Just imagine a defense top 3 in the nation the past years that will actually blitz.

Bo never blitzes and it is costly.

LSU is in pretty good shape now. Keeping the OC, offense will be scary good with Perrilloux at quarterback, and dangerous running backs taking more snaps now that Hester is gone, and all those receivers returning. WoW.
