NFL Draft expert Frank Coyle of draftinsiders.com projects the opening rounds of this year's draft. These projections do not necessarily correspond to his player rankings.
1. Oakland Raiders
Calvin Johnson* WR 6-4, 235 Georgia Tech
Raiders sitting in Black Hole with top pick and Al likes the impact offensive guys.
2. Detroit Lions
Joe Thomas OT 6-7, 310 Wisconsin
Lions must find a way to protect their QB whoever he will be next season.
x-3. Cleveland Browns
Brady Quinn QB 6-4, 230 Notre Dame
Browns are not 100% sold on Charlie Frye and Quinn would be almost impossible to pass on here.
x-4. Tampa Bay Bucaneers
JaMarcus Russell* QB 6-6, 255 LSU
Bucs are hoping for big play receiver or left tackle here. Russell would be fine addition.
5. Arizona Cardinals Jamaal Anderson* DE 6-6, 255 Arkansas
Cardinals are always looking for DL and Anderson is a blue chip prospect.
6. Washington Redskins
Ted Ginn Jr. * WR 6-0, 180 Ohio State
Redskins' offense needs a premier playmaker and Ginn can strike from anywhere.
7. Minnesota Vikings
Alan Branch* DT 6-5, 330 Michigan
Vikings will anchor their talented front four with this stud tackle if available.
8. Houston Texans
Adrian Peterson* RB 6-1, 220 Oklahoma
Texans offense would love this feature back to balance their offense.
9. Miami Dolphins
Leon Hall CB 5-11, 195 Michigan
Dolphins pass defense has some holes and a top cover man would address a problem area.
10. Atlanta Falcons
Lawrence Timmons LB 6-3, 230 Florida State
Falcons defense failed over second half and speed is a premium in this draft class.
11. San Francisco 49ers
Dwayne Jarrett* WR 6-5, 210 Southern California
49ers young QB Alex Smith needs a playmaker to take the next step up.
12. Buffalo Bills
Levi Brown OT 6-5, 325 Penn State
Bills have been vulnerable on the edge for a decade.
13. St. Louis Rams
Sidney Rice* WR 6-1, 190 South Carolina
Rams will probably lose veteran Kevin Curtis in free agency.
14. Carolina Panthers
Gaines Adams DE 6-4, 265 Clemson
Panthers look to their changing front four with replacement for Michael Rucker in this class.
15. Pittsburgh Steelers
Paul Posluszny LB 6-1, 235 Penn State
Steelers showing age on their backer unit in particular and Poluszny could be an early NFL starter.
16. Green Bay Packers
Adam Carriker DE 6-5, 280 Nebraska
Packers defense needs a stud pass rusher and Carriker is flying up the charts.
17. Jacksonville Jaguars
LaRon Landry FS 6-2, 205 LSU
Jaguars are looking for impact defender in secondary and Landry would be an early starter.
18. Cincinnati Bengals
Zach Miller* TE 6-5, 260 Arizona State
Bengals looking to give QB Carson Palmer a big play weapon in the middle.
19. Tennessee Titans
Reggie Nelson* FS 6-1, 190 Florida
Titans defense looking to add a playmaker in their disappointing secondary.
20. New York Giants Michael Griffin SS 6-0, 200 Texas
G-Men have major problems in the secondary.
21. Denver Broncos
Aaron Ross CB 6-0, 195 Texas
Broncos will look to add a top corner after Darrent Williams tragedy.
22. Dallas Cowboys
Robert Meachem* WR 6-2, 205 Tennessee
Boys must prepare for any TO meltdown and Meachem gives Tony Romo a fine deep threat.
23. Kansas City Chiefs
Amobi Okoye DT 6-2, 290 Louisville
Chiefs are looking to this guy to light a fire on disappointing front four.
24. New England Patriots (from Seattle)
Brandon Siler* LB 6-1, 235 Florida
Patriots aging backer unit could be the focus of one of their two #1 picks.
25. New York Jets
Greg Olsen* TE 6-5, 255 Miami
Jets passing game needs some impact and Olsen has a huge upside as a pro.
26. Philadelphia Eagles
Charles Johnson* DE 6-2, 275 Georgia
Eagles are looking to get bigger along their front four.
27. New Orleans Saints
Daymeion Hughes CB 6-2, 190 California
Saints are problems on the corner and will look to address this area early in the draft.
28. New England Patriots
Darrelle Revis* CB 5-11, 190 Pittsburgh
Patriots are expected to address the secondary early with possibly both their #1 picks this April.
29. Baltimore Ravens
Marshawn Lynch* RB 5-10, 220 California
Ravens are looking for a playmaker out of the backfield.
30. San Diego Chargers
Justin Blalock OG 6-4, 330 Texas
Chargers continue to build their line to keep Tomlinson at the top of his game.
31. Chicago Bears
Quinn Pitcock DT 6-2, 295 Ohio State
Bears' overrated defense has big problems on the interior with both injuries and off the field problems.
32. Indianapolis Colts Tank Tyler DT 6-2, 320 NC State
Colts need some interior defenders and Tyler is one of the best in this class.
I thought this was an interesting and very different mock. It has many picks I disagree with, especially Ted Ginn to the Redskins when they already have Brandon Lloyd, Santana Moss, and Randle El.
