Sam Adams was only able to play 2 plays at a time, seriously I went to three games, and he'd play first and second down, and then he would have to walk off the field.

and given that he was a run stopping DT and not a pass rushing DT, that makes complete sense. he would never play on a passing down because his talents would be wasted.

Well obviously, but even if it was 3rd and 1 he still couldnt stay in for another play.
