I am a huge High School basketball fan. The game is so pure, and I love seeing all of the different coaches' systems. Tonight I am going to my first tripple header of the season. Both teams are from Philadelphia, and I will be watching the Freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity Games. The teams are Neumann-Goretti vs Father Judge. Neumann-Goretti is a big time program, and here are the top players on their team:

Jamal Wilson SF Class of 2008 Rhode Island commit
Andre Gillette C Class of 2009 Ranked #178 Junior in the nation
Tony Chenault PG Class 0f 2010 Ranked #16 Sophmore in the nation
Daniel Stewart C Class of 2010 Ranked #65 Sophmore in the nation
Tyrek Duren PG Class of 2010 Ranked #470 Sophmore in the nation
Frankie Smalls PF Class of 2011 Ranked #152 Freshman in the nation
Lamont Fulton PG Class of 2011 Ranked #195 Freshman in the nation

I'm looking forward to that one. Brandon Jennings is a player.

Did you watch the game last week? Forget the names of the schools, but it was California against Ohio. Jrue Holliday (UCLA Recruit) from Cal against Delvon Roe (Mich. State) and Ryan Pritchard (Indiana). Roe played lights out that game.

I remember watching Oak Hill back when Marcus Williams was there. The PG, not the SF. I think Jennings is a similar player to Williams, but a better score and slightly worse passer.

For high school basketball Illinois is a nice state to live in. We are more of a basketball state than a football state as it is. The state has about 600 high schools that compete in the state tournaments in March. Unfortunately, Illinois decided to add more classes to basketball so now the finals will consists of a 1A, 2A, 3A, and 4A Tournament. Kind of waters down the tournament talent, but what can you do.

We have produced some good NBA players who made the leap from high school to the NBA.

Kevin Garnett - Farragut HS
Darius Milies - East St. Louis HS
Eddy Curry - Thornwood HS
Shaun Livingston - Peoria Central HS

Derrick Rose would also be in the NBA if not for the 1 year of college rule.
