View Full Version : Is there a no1 WR in the draft this year?

Titans desperately need a go to, no1 WR who can get separation and help the offense out...is there one in the draft this year? If so - who do you guys think? Seems like not a top heavy WR draft....

Well, their is...but I won't say because it'll probably start a 3 page debate about how his 40 time is too slow..

The big problem with most WR's this year is that they really don't get separation...Outside of Avery and..Nelson...no guys have really shown any real ability to just beat corners 1 on 1. They have size though, no denying that...

if you want separation theres no one better in this draft then desean jackson, if your looking for production you can argue between malcolm kelly, limas sweed, adarius bowman and maybe early doucet. no clearcut no.1 guy though.

Ah..I forgot Jackson. :/

Malcolm Kelly and James Hardy are the only ones that could develop into true number 1 WRs, everyone else will become number 2 wide receivers at most.

Have read Kelly has got separation on CBs due to his fluid running style and ability to get off the jam...is this true? In a Dwayne Bowe type of way?

he reminds me of a Javon Walker type player.

Earl Bennett?

Malcom Kelly really looks the part of a number 1 NFL reciever, he can kind of dissapear in games though as he drifted a little bit later in the season. But he has all the tools and skills, reminds me of Braylon Edwards earlier in his career.

Earl Bennett?

Earl Bennett is a possession WR and normally they are better suited when they are the number 2 and there a deep threat at number 1.

Kelly and Bowman are two guys I like. Bowman has Bowe type talent, but I don't think he's as mean and nasty as Bowe is. Maybe not as fast either...but Bowe's greatest strength isn't his speed.

I'll hold off on Nelson. I like him alot, but I need to see more of him.

Desean Jackson will be a number 1. He's got more than a little Santana in him.

desean jackson, malcolm kelly, James Hardy and Jordy nelson should all be first rounders. id give the nod jackson.

James Hardy should be the first one taken. I think Jackson will go first though b/c of his speed and the fact that he can return kicks decently. I think Hardy is gonna be a beast.

Hardy needs to up his 40 time if he wants to think about being the 1st WR taken. Right now I'd lean Kelley, but Jackson could certainly go first depending upon the team.

I'm a big Earl Bennett fan as well as someone previously mentioned. I don't know if he's a true #1 but he's someone I like in the early to mid 2nd round if he chooses to come out.

i like malcolm kelly, but im not sold as him as a #1 receiver, i think he can become a very nice #2. but if your looking for a number one, you might not find it, i cant say that nobody in this draft will become a number 1 because that would just be awful, but as of now, as prospects, i dont see too many people standing out.

I'm not sure you need a #1 wr per se. These terms seem to have surfaced over the years and dont really mean anything. The Bucs won a superbowl without a So called #1, so did the Patriots and the Steelers. As for this draft there is not an Andre Johnson or a Calvin Johnson but there will be some real productive players out there. The combine will go a long way to shake out who should go where.

Is there a number 1 WR? Sure. Do we know who it is yet? Probably not. Will we know anytime soon (say, by the end of 2008?) Perhaps not even by then. This could be the type of year where some guys who lack top value may end up doing well.

Now, as of the receivers that are at the top, it comes down to what type of scheme you run. As of now, I think it's Desean or Malcolm that will fight for the top spot, assuming they declare. But I'm not sold that either one will definitively develop into a number 1.

I really doubt that 4 WRs are taken in the first round this year.

Eh...we had MeShawn. Either way, we had 3 incredible possession receivers (Johnson, McCardell, Jurevicius). 3 solid WRs>#1.

Malcolm Kelly is a true #1. Anyone who says he can't get separation is blind. He's big, strong and quick. He killed our DBs because he's so good at getting clean releases. Kelly can run almost any pattern, especially slants, fades and ins. He's the only lock to be a #1 IMO.

Honestly, I'm not sure why the even required Jordy to play college football. He should have gone straight to the NFL.

Why should he even have to play in the NFL, there's already a spot reserved for him in Canton.

Well..

If you watched a game of Jordy Nelson, James Hardy, Malcolm Kelly, Adarius Bowman, with no bias, and no pre-draft rankings, etc...I'd say it would be nearly unanimous that Jordy Nelson would be the best, most impressive player..which is why I find it fairly obvious that he's the best WR..

You would think the "He disapears in games" would be somewhat of a turnoff?...but no. Even worse, is that Jordy Nelson faced better corners, and more coverage (Being the only real weapon on KSU), and still single handedly destroyed them...enough said.

So he can stay busy. Otherwise Jordy would just have to spen his time running around the world with his breath-taking speed.

Yes, but in order for that to happen, people are required to laugh. Which you failed in doing, so therefore, you are restricted from returning to the premises of this thread.

Amarri Jackson is the best player in the draft. By far.

If Desean Jackson learns to run routes he'd be a good #1, and Kelly will be a Decent #1 option..

We tried this before with eacantdraft. He was too confident of a troll to stop, so our rep rape attempts were futile. He got banned in the end so it's all good. Travis is too clean so we'll have to find a loophole to get rid of him.
