theres enough WR depth that they can take one in the 2nd or 3rd

They can afford to take a guy to take a guy in the middle rounds

I was under the impression Roy Williams was still under contract...I dont think he is a UFA until after the 2008 season. They wont draft a WR this year, MIllen will be crucified they have major needs at OT, CB, and MLB.

there have been reports/rumors of both Roy Williams and Kevin Jones wanting out after the season ends.

I hope they take another WR in the first, maybe Malcolm Kelly. You guys have to realize that Millen isn't a smart guy, I wouldn't doubt the fact of them drafting one.

If Millen is still the GM by next April then Detroit needs to riot.

i dont think so. There arent really any elite level recivers this year, at least none on calvin or roys level. I think he will draft defense and OL.

All I can do is shake my head in disbelief . . . why did you start this thread?

how can you say OL is number 5 its should be number 1,2,3 and 4..kita has been sacks 49 times..give the man a real LT..

Absolutely. Draft a left tackle early, and then Jeff Backus moves to right tackle (where they have a need for a competent starter) where he's better suited. The offensive line just got better by two-fold for the Lions.

From the few Lions' games that I have saw, OL and DBs seem like their top needs.

Well, I think if Detroit could get they're hands on Sam Baker they'd be in pretty good shape. Mike Martz obviously prefers to pass and getting Baker would help that offense quite a bit. I look at Baker as a great pass protector, more so than a crushing run blocker so I'm certain he would be a great fit for the Mike Martz offense.

I highly doubt Mike Martz will be in Detroit next season.

I second the motion. FIRED!!!! This idiot is still living off of 3+ HOFers in Faulk, Bruce and Holt. He thought he could do the same with a hack like Kitna and he was wrong. His inability is breathtaking. It really is. He can't adapt to the players he has. That is the mark of a horrible coach.

i put OL at 5 because i heard theres depth in this years draft at OL but that is a definite need

Technically, Detroit is already a "riot"

I would think this could go in the Detroit team thread.

We don't want it.

Good idea.. but we'd have the highest paid RT in the league.. he's got a 6 year/$40 Million contract.. and then we'd be paying that "early" LT some big money, too.

Well, something to consider is that Backus' deal is backloaded, so it's perfectly feasible for him to be the starting right tackle for the next two years and hopefully be one of the league's best at that position.

2008: $2.7 million
2009: $4.45 million
2010: $4.95 million
2011: $5.45 million
(Per rotoworld (http://rotoworld.com/Content/playerpages/player_contract.aspx?sport=NFL&id=1817))

I mean, the $16M guaranteed is what it is, the Lions can't change that now. But they can decide whether or not to stick with him for 2010 and 2011.
