constructive criticism wanted...please no one line comments, if youre gonna critique or diss it, give a reason. And if you are complimenting it, feel free to give a reason too.

Mock v1.4

ROUND 1

1. Oakland Raiders – QB Jamarcus Russell – LSU
The Raiders need to get their signal caller of the future and it looks like Al is finally ready to spend a first rounder on a QB for this wonder of a physical specimen.

2. Detroit Lions – OT Joe Thomas – Wisconsin
What the Lions need is a LT to anchor their line. Joe Thomas is exactly that guy.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – WR Calvin Johnson – Georgia Tech
If Johnson is available here, it is inconceivable the Bucs would pass on him.

4. Cleveland Browns – HB Adrian Peterson – Oklahoma
The Browns offense needs some kind of spark and Peterson is flat out an elite playmaker who you can build an offense around.

5. Arizona Cardinals – DE Jamaal Anderson – Arkansas
The Cardinals don’t want to reach on Levi Brown here so instead use it on a DE who can potentially help this defense out a lot.

6. Washington Redskins – DT Alan Branch – Michigan
Branch is a safe pick and having a dominant player like him in the middle should really help this struggling defense.

7. Minnesota Vikings – QB Brady Quinn – Notre Dame
Is Tarvaris Jackson really their QB of the future? At the end of the day, the Vikings aren’t confident enough in him to pass on Quinn for the likes of Gaines Adams or Dwayne Bowe.

8. Houston Texans – HB Marshawn Lynch – Cal
With Quinn, Branch and Peterson off the board, the Texans don’t have the best of choices. It comes down to Lynch and Levi Brown, but once all the workouts are done it will be clear Lynch is the superior prospect and the Texans take a guy they are confident Kubiak can turn into a star.

9. Miami Dolphins – OLB Gaines Adams – Clemson
Adams is a natural pass-rusher with the athleticism to play OLB and he fits right into the Dolphins scheme and needs.

10. Atlanta Falcons – FS Reggie Nelson – Florida
The Falcons two biggest needs are a playmaking safety and their OL. But Nelson is the more impressive prospect than Levi Brown and gets the nod.

11. San Francisco 49ers – DE Adam Carriker – Nebraska
Carriker is an ideal 3-4 DE, and if he has good workouts, he should have no problem going top 15.

12. Buffalo Bills – MLB Patrick Willis – Ole Miss
London Fletcher is coming off a strong season but he isn’t a good enough run defender for the Bills’ liking so they let him walk and draft Willis.

13. St. Louis Rams – DT Amobi Okoye – Louisville
The Rams need to toughen up their interior defense and Okoye is too good of a value to pass up here.

14. Carolina Panthers – S Laron Landry – LSU
The Panthers need a young, playmaking safety. Landry will fit into their defense perfectly.

15. Pittsburgh Steelers – OLB Lawrence Timmons – Florida St.
Timmons is great for the Steelers because they need youth at LB and as they transition coaches and possibly changes schemes, a versatile LB like Timmons is perfect.

16. Green Bay – CB Leon Hall – Michigan
CB may not seem like a first round need for the Packers, but the truth is thanks to their deep and outstanding 06 draft class, they don’t have many pressing needs. They are extremely thin at CB and Harris and Woodson are aging. They could jump on Hall here. Another strong possibility would be Dwayne Bowe, who could be too good to pass up, especially considering Donald Driver is 36 years old.

17. Jacksonville – WR Dwayne Bowe – LSU
Make it 4 straight first rounders spent on receivers. Bowe is just too good to pass up on here and he is exactly the type of WR they like.

18. Cincinnati Bengals – CB Darrelle Revis – Pittsburgh
Revis is the top CB on the board and with the franchising of Justin Smith, DB quickly becomes the Bengals’ biggest need.

19. Tennessee Titans – WR Ted Ginn Jr. – Ohio St.
The Titans need to add more weapons to that offense.

20. New York Giants – OT Levi Brown – Penn St.
The Giants cut Petigout without having a backup plan in place and they will be very lucky to have Brown fall to them here.

21. Denver Broncos – DE Charles Johnson – Georgia
Johnson is easily the best pure 4-3 end available and the Broncos can’t pass him up.

22. Dallas Cowboys – FS Brandon Merriweather – Miami
Jerry Jones wants to win badly and is willing to bring in a potential character problem like Merriweather if he believes it will help the team. There’s no questioning Merriweather’s ability on the football field and he fills the Cowboys biggest need.

23. Kansas City Chiefs – WR Dwayne Jarrett – USC
Jarrett’s stock might be slipping, but he is still a steal here and we know Herm Edwards likes big receivers. It’s about time for the Chiefs to get themselves a wideout that defenses will actually fear.

24. New England Patriots – OLB Jarvis Moss – Florida
The Patriots continue to stay a step ahead of the game and pick up a talented hybrid backer.

25. New York Jets – OLB Anthony Spencer – Purdue
3-4 teams like the Jets are always looking for hybrid backers and Spencer has great potential.

26. Philadelphia Eagles – S Michael Griffin – Texas
Michael Lewis won’t be resigned and Considine doesn’t appear to be starting material.

27. New Orleans Saints – CB Chris Houston – Arkansas
Fred Thomas got picked on more than any defender in the NFL last year and he needs to be replaced. The Saints choose not to wait beyond the first round to fill their biggest need.

28. New England Patriots – ILB Paul Poluzny – Penn St.
After picking up a pass-rushing hybrid backer the Patriots proceed to pick up Poluzny who will move to ILB and replace Teddy Bruschi, who has lost a step and is soon to retire.

29. Baltimore Ravens – OG Ben Grubbs – Auburn
Grubbs is an OG prospect with first round status and the Ravens’ OL needs talent and youth. This is the safe, consensus pick here for Baltimore, which is the route Baltimore generally seems to take with its first rounders.

30. San Diego Chargers – WR Sydney Rice – South Carolina
The Chargers WRs let them down in the playoffs and they lack any true playmakers at the position so it would make sense to bring in a talent like Rice.

31. Chicago Bears – OG Arron Sears – Tennessee
Sears is a prospect whose stock is rising and the Bears have an aging OL.

32. Indianapolis Colts – OLB Jon Beason – Miami
The Colts need help badly at LB and Beason fits their scheme.


ROUND 2

33. Oakland Raiders – OT Joe Staley – Central Michigan
The Raiders are switching to the zone blocking scheme and an athletic OT like Staley should fit right in.

34. Detroit Lions – DE Quentin Moses - Georgia
The Lions need to bring in an edge-rusher and Moses is a nice value here.

35. Cleveland Browns – NT DeMarcus Tyler – NC State
This draft does not have many ideal 3-4 NTs and Tyler is clearly the best. This could cause him to go a little higher than he would otherwise.

36. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – C Ryan Kalil – USC
The Bucs continue their O-line overhaul by picking up this stud center.

37. New York Jets (f/ WAS) – WR Robert Meachem – Tennessee
Laveranues Coles has hinted that he may retire soon and Justin McCareins has been a disappointment. While Jerricho Cotechery is coming off a breakout season, another starter will be needed in the near future and Meachem would be hard to pass on.

38. Arizona Cardinals – OT Tony Ugoh – Arkansas
The Cardinals badly need a LT and Ugoh is the last highly rated prospect at the position, in a relatively weak class at OT.

39. Houston Texans – CB Josh Wilson – Maryland
After Dunta Robinson, the Texans don’t have any players to speak about at CB.

40. Miami Dolphins – CB Aaron Ross – Texas
With Will Allen and Travis Daniels being their starting corners, the Dolphins could use an upgrade at the position.

41. Minnesota Vikings – TE Greg Olsen – Miami
The Vikings want to take a WR, but might decide that they’d rather grab a pass-catching TE over Anthony Gonzalez or Craig Davis.

42. San Francisco 49ers – CB Daymeion Hughes – Cal
Walt Harris is coming off a career season but he is a veteran who is unlikely to repeat that kind of performance and the 49ers are thin at the position. Unless the 49ers make a big FA signing like Nate Clements, they will need to address the position in the draft.

43. Buffalo Bills – TE Zach Miller - Arizona
The Bills could really use a big target in their passing game, and they are not getting production from the TE position right now.

44. Atlanta Falcons – DE Victor Abiamiri – Notre Dame
The Falcons haven’t franchised Kerney and it appears they may lose him in FA. Overall, the Falcons need depth at the position and Abiamiri is a nice value here.

45. Carolina Panthers – MLB Buster Davis – Florida St.
The Panthers are looking to replace the unreliable Dan Morgan and Davis is an instinctive MLB who can step into a starting role.

46. Pittsburgh Steelers – HB Michael Bush – Louisville
As good as Willie Parker is, the Steelers do not have good depth at HB and adding a good power back to their arsenal would greatly improve their offense.

47. Green Bay Packers – WR Craig Davis – LSU
Donald Driver is 36 years old and the Packers depth at the WR position is terrible.

48. Jacksonville Jaguars – FS Eric Weddle – Utah
The Jaguars may lose Deon Grant in FA and could use a coverage safety like Weddle.

49. Cincinnati Bengals – DT Quinn Pittock – Ohio St.
Sam Adams can’t play much longer and Cincinnati could use a run-stopping DT like Pittock.

50. Tennessee Titans – DE Tim Crowder – Texas
The Titans did not get a lot of production from the DE position last year and could use a solid performer like Crowder.

51. New York Giants – OLB Earl Everett - Florida
The Giants cut Arrington and Emmons and need to bring in help at OLB.

52. St. Louis Rams – OLB Stewart Bradley – Nebraska
Bradley is a smart, run-stuffing SLB, which fits right into what the Rams need.

53. Dallas Cowboys – OG Justin Blalock – Texas
Marco Rivera is near the end of the road and the Cowboys OL needs major help.

54. Kansas City Chiefs – DT Justin Harrell – Tennessee
One of the Chiefs priorities in this off-season will be to improve at the DT position.

55. Seattle Seahawks – OG Josh Beekman – Boston College
The Hawks need to improve their interior line to get their running game back in business.

56. Denver Broncos – HB Antonio Pittman – Ohio St.
The Broncos were not happy with Tatum Bell last year and they may spend a first day pick on a HB.

57. Philadelphia Eagles – MLB Brandon Siler – Florida
Trotter is coming off a down year and you get the feeling the Eagles might replace him in the near future. Siler would make an excellent replacement for him.

58. New Orleans Saints – K Mason Crosby – Colorado
The Saints would probably like to add a LB, but their best options are gone, so they address the K position.

59. New York Jets – FB Brian Leonard – Rutgers
The Jets add a versatile weapon to their offense and get themselves a good inside runner.

60. New England Patriots – WR Anthony Gonzalez – Ohio St.
The Patriots have lost a lot of receivers in recent years and Gonzalez seems like he would fit well into the Patriot offense.

61. Baltimore Ravens – DE Ikaika Alama-Francis - Hawaii
The Ravens do not have great depth at DL, and Francis is a versatile end who can fit into the different schemes the Ravens like to run.

62. San Diego Chargers – S John Wendling – Wyoming
The Chargers would like to replace Terrence Kiel and Wyoming is a potential workout warrior.

63. Chicago Bears – SS Aaron Rouse – Virginia Tech
Mike Brown continues to battle injuries and the defense really suffers in his absence. Rouse should impress at workouts and the Bears can groom him to replace Mike Brown.

64. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (f/ IND) – CB Tanard Jackson – Syracuse
The Bucs have little depth at CB after Kelly and Barber, who are both aging. Jackson is an ideal cover 2 CB and he might even be able to play S, another position the Bucs are not strong at.

ROUND 3

65. Oakland Raiders – DE Lamarr Woodley – Michigan
The Raiders need to add another pass-rusher and Woodley is a nice value here.

66. Detroit Lions – CB Marcus McCauley – Fresno St.
The Lions are looking to replace their current CBs as they switch to the cover 2. McCauley could be considered a steal here and he has the size to excel in their scheme.

67. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – DT Brandon Mebane – Cal
The Bucs front 4, which once featured Warren Sapp and Anthony McFarland, has come down a long way and they need some young talent. Mebane fits the scheme and the Bucs coaches took a liking to him at the senior bowl.

68. Cleveland Browns – DE Ryan McBean – Oklahoma St.
McBean has the build and skills to be a 3-4 DE and the Browns badly need to improve their DL.

69. Arizona Cardinals – FS Michael Johnson – Arizona
The Cardinals have a major need at FS and Johnson could easily put up the workout numbers to justify this pick.

70. Denver Broncos (f/ WAS) – OT Ryan Harris – Notre Dame
The Broncos would like to replace the disappointing George Foster and the LT position is somewhat up in the air right now. Harris should fit well into the ZBS.

71. Miami Dolphins – WR Johnnie Lee Higgins – UTEP
Chambers is coming off a disappointing season, Booker may be cut loose, and Derek Hagan does not appear to be starting material. Higgins is a potential game-breaking receiver and a good deep target for Duante Culpepper.

72. Minnesota Vikings – WR Jacoby Jones – Lanes
Jones is a sleeper pick who could be one of those small school prospects who makes his way into day 1 after strong workouts.

73. Houston Texans – QB Troy Smith – Ohio St.
The Texans are expected bring in Jake Plummer but he is only a temporary situation and Troy Smith should fit well into a Kubiak offense that uses a lot of bootlegs that can take advantage of his mobility and ability to throw on the run and at the same time stop his lack of height from hindering him.

74. Buffalo Bills – OG Manuel Ramirez – Texas Tech
The interior of the Bills line needs work and if they want to improve their run game they will need to add some mauling run blockers like Ramirez.

75. Atlanta Falcons – HB Tony Hunt – Penn St.
The Falcons offense will change under Petrino and he would probably like to add a power running game to their offense.

76. San Francisco 49ers – WR Paul Williams – Fresno St.
The 49ers need to add a playmaker at WR and Williams has immense potential.

77. Pittsburgh Steelers – C Doug Datish – Ohio St.
Jeff Hartings retired and Datish is a solid C who should be able to step in and start and he can also play other positions on the line, which could be useful because the Steelers need help all over their line and they may decide to start someone else like Chuck Okobi at center.

78. Green Bay Packers – HB Kenny Irons – Auburn
Whether or not the Packers lose Ahman Green, they will need to bring in a young player at the HB position and Irons can be a workhorse.

79. Jacksonville Jaguars – DE Dan Buzuin – Central Michigan
The Jaguars could lose Bobby McCray and could use another pass-rusher.

80. Cincinnati Bengals – Forfeited Pick

81. Tennessee Titans – CB Jonathan Wade – Tennessee
The Titans need to add a CB to start alongside Pac-Man Jones.

82. New York Giants – RB Lorenzo Booker – Florida St.
The Giants will need a back with some quickness and receiving skills to complement Brandon Jacobs.

83. St. Louis Rams – WR Aundrae Ellison – East Carolina
The Rams are likely to lose both Kevin Curtis and Shaun McDonald in FA and Isaac Bruce is aging, making WR a legit need for the Rams.

84. Carolina Panthers – QB Drew Stanton – Michigan St.
Jake Delhomme is coming off a horrible season and depth at the position is horrible. The Panthers need to go QB day 1.

85. Kansas City Chiefs – CB Fred Bennett – South Carolina
Ty Law and Patrick Surtain are extremely old and youth is needed at CB. Bennett is the kind of big CB Herm Edwards prefers.

86. Seattle Seahawks – TE Scott Chandler – Iowa
The Seahawks might let Stevens walk as a FA after several disappointing years and Mili can’t seem to stay healthy so a replacement will be needed. Chandler should fit into the Seahawks west coast style offense.

87. Denver Broncos – WR Chansi Stuckey – Clemson
Could help as a RS after losing Darrent Williams and adds a new weapon to the Broncos offense.

88. Dallas Cowboys – CB Eric Wright – UNLV
Aaron Glenn and Anthony Henry are both coming off disappointing seasons.

89. New Orleans Saints – OLB Rufus Alexander – Oklahoma
The Saints need to improve at the LB position and Alexander would add athleticism and playmaking ability the Saints’ current LBs lack. The Saints could also use this pick on a MLB, which is a little bit bigger of a need but there are no available LBs of the talent level of Alexander.

90. New York Jets – CB Michael Coe – Alabama St.
The Jets need to improve at the CB position and Coe is one of those small school prospects who could sneak into day 1.
91. Philadelphia Eagles – HB Dwayne Wright – Fresno St.
Correll Buckhalter is a FA and the Eagles have a need to add depth at HB and a physical runner like Wright would make a good replacement for Buckhalter.

92. New England Patriots – S Josh Gattis – Wake Forest
Rodney Harrison’s career is about over and the Pats might look to add another young safety to the mix. At the least, Gattis should be a special teams standout. And considering the Patriots outstanding depth across the board, they can afford to make a pick like this.

93. Baltimore Ravens – CB Tarell Brown – Texas
The Ravens depth at CB is hurting and a talented player like Brown could be a nice pickup.

94. San Diego Chargers – OG Marshall Yanda – Iowa
The Chargers could lose Kris Dielman and Yanda could make a solid replacement.

95. Chicago Bears – OLB Justin Durant – Hampton
The Bears franchised Briggs but there’s no guarantee he’ll stay on board more than a year so they pick Durant to be groomed as his potential replacement. If not, he could replace Hunter Hillenmeyer in the starting lineup if they move Briggs to SLB and let Durant take over the WLB position.

96. Indianapolis Colts – DT Turk McBride – Tennessee
McBride is a little undersized for the DT position, but that means he should fit into the cover 2 just fine.

I love the idea of Olsen in the 2nd over the 3rd tier WR's....getting the best TE over say the 8th best WR is perfect. Plus getting Jones late and at least 2 WR's via F/A or through trade...and we'll be well on our way to being a real contender.

Don't know about Gattis, liked the rest although Belichick doesn't like drafting linebackers. He's drafted five so far as head coach of the Pats, all in the fifth round or later. I believe the only one who ever even played for us was Tully Banta-Cain. All the rest are off the team. Two are out of the league, the other two are on their way out.

I dont mind the first two picks for the fins but I am not really a fan of the 3rd pick. We have a few other Wrs that can be a 2-3 type including Welker (lead the team in receptions but is always forgotten). Plus Hagan looked much better as the year went on and they played him more. I think he could be a solid number 2 in the future and a number 3 this year easily. We have other WR's as well, honestly we just need a number 1 WR. I dont think Higgins ever turning into that. I would prefer some more OLine or Dline help or a QB project like Stanton in the 3rd to work with (since joey will be cut and lemon is a RFA).

Sorry if im completely off base, which considering the nature in which I breeze through most posts is highly likely, but didnt you argue for pages and pages on the old thread about how we need to invest defence first, basically saying how important it was and am now giving an A++ to a 4 offensive pick mock? There's no question I've been an advocate for Defense. (even here I state I'm not sure if we pass on Gaines Adams) As Udeze is trash and Edwards most likely is a platoon guy. The DE's (and OLB's) are essential for the Tampa 2 to be successful....however if Adams is gone when we pick ...I don't think that Jarvis Moss or Charles Johnson are good enough to spend the #7 pick on. IF WE DON"T TRADE DOWN...then I'm all for BQ there. If we trade down I'd still want either Landry / P Willis / Carriker / Levi B / a WR ect ect...
