Where's the love for wrestling? The sport is extremely physically draining. Train in the wrestling room harder than any football or hockey team with the heater on to 102 for 3 hours daily, on top of that you are many times wearing sweats doing this. You actually have to lose weight so many times you eat very little as opposed to other sports where you are able to eat as much as you want. Also take into account that the season starts at Halloween and ends after Valentine's Day and you miss out on a lot of big eating holidays with Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, the Super Bowl and Valentine's Day--that makes it very mentally draining. Then, right before a wrestling tournament or dual meet, you end up eating absolutely nothing in order to make weight and yet you have to wrestle this other guy who is very often stronger, quicker and smarter than you. At the tournaments you often have 4 or 5 matches split up by an hour and these matches are extremely physically draining, and as you go later into the tournament, the competition gets stronger and tougher making each one more physically draining. Wrestling is definitely the hardest sport.

I have to agree with the others that wresling (or swimming, whatever) is the hardest. All sports are hard in their own individual way, but wrestling is just brutal because of how much you have to watch your weight. There were times in high school I would have to lose 10 pounds in a couple days so I couldn't eat anything but salads and water, while spitting in a cup nonstop.

Basketball requires the best physical shape and most athletiscim. You are constantly running and never stopping. THey also have the best athletes

03-17-2006, 03:32 PM
My goodness, it's boxing and it's not really close. Anyone can do it, but almost nobody is good at it. Conditioning for the sport is brutal, and you get punched in the freakin face multiple times.

I don't know how in the hell hockey is actually more difficult. In fact, hockey is quite easy aside from the skating. And if the skating makes it difficult, than it skating should be its own category. Deck Hockey is soooo much easier than boxing that it's ridiculous.

i voted swimming...and i really meant swimming. as a former competitive swimmer (among other sports), it is very demanding, and has some of the same demands as wrestling.

ya see swimmers that shave their head and legs...well, that really makes a difference. you can really feel any form of resistance when your moving through the water. so being bloated do to gas or over eating can be a hinderance as well. i always sat on the pot and tried to squeeze any pee, poop or gas out before an event.

its also hard to vote against a sport where your breathing is so restricted.

swimming 3 - 5 miles a day can be A LOT...and it works every muscle in your body.

and extensive exposure to all that chlorine will f with you in many ways.

Ok yeah, swimming is tough, but are you really going to try and tell me that it's harder than getting in the ring and getting punched in the face by a man equal to your size for 12 rounds?

*edit* Notice we're comparing extensive exposure to chlorine, to broken jaws, broken noses, pissing blood, broken hands, and brain damage.

Never played hockey (only pick-up games), so I don't really know, but I can imagine that it is hard but I have played all of the others sports and am currently playing lacrosse. I would have to say that (other than hockey) lacrosse wins this hands down. It is the toughest sport to play. You have less padding than footballl players and get beaten up the same amount, plus you are getting beaten with aluminum sticks through half the game. I play middie, and the constant running up and down the field on top of the brutal beat down you get from a poorly thrown "loop" pass is ridiculous. You come home from 3 hour practices 6 days a week and feel like you won't be able to walk the next 3 days, yet you have practice in another 20 hours. The physical beat down you take, plus the mental beatdown (mental mistakes are detrimental to your playing and eventually your body) leaves me with no other chioce but poker. No, lacrosse...hands down.

True...speaking of boxing, I was watching an old Tyson fight (dnno against who) and Tyson continually took a beating from the guy. However, this was on purpose as most punches did not land (due to Tyson's quickness) and he was waring him out. Then, one punch, ONE punch, and Tyson knocked the guy down. In the first round too! I then saw that Tyson was 22-0 with 20 KO's. That is a ridiculous record and KO count. I think that if Tyson's owner had not died and as a result he became corrupted by Don King, then I think Tyson could have been better or close to it than Ali. No joke, watch some of his old clips. Sorry if this is WAY off topic.

I've said that before as well. If the guy wasn't compeletely irresponsible and insane, he would've went down as the best ever. In his short heyday, champions were literally afraid to fight him. Undefeated Michael Spinks was about to wet himself.

Shane P. Hallam

I'd say baseball. Hitting a ball is difficul in itself, plus it differs on how you can hit it and what you need. You blast a fly ball, it gets caught. A grounder has to be placed perfectly. Pitching at that high of speed is hard as well, and requires a lot of practice and learning. It seems just hard to do all around.
