View Full Version : 1st Mock

DRAFTMAN
12-30-2007, 08:49 AM
This is my first mock draft after weak 14

1. Miami (0-13)
The Pick: Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas*
Why: to pass up on a talent like this will come back to haunt the dolphins
2. New England (from San Francisco (3-10))
The Pick: Jake Long, OT, Michigan
Why: their o-line has been fantastic this year but getting a little younger wont hurt. (really I think they will trade down to get a younger DB)
3. St. Louis (3-10)
The Pick: Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU
Why: 22nd in rush yards allowed, explosive Glenn Dorsey will be a pro bowler in at least 1 year
4. NY Jets (3-10)
The Pick: James Laurinaitis, LB, Ohio State*
Why: an explosive playmaker and sure tackler will only improve that 30th ranked rush defense and will make a dynamic duo with Jonathon Vilma
5. Atlanta (3-9)
The Pick: DeSean Jackson, WR, California
The Buzz: The Falconís were sad to watch this year on offense anything would help and a young do it all playmaker offense would more than help, adding a new quarterback along with a new coach wouldnít help too much.
6. Oakland (4-9)
The Pick: Chris Long, DE, Virginia
Why: the raiderís d - line has been real nice over the past years but this year it slipped and a future pro bowler would make it better.

7. Kansas City (4-9)
The Pick: Ryan Clady, OT, Boise State
Why: The Chiefs' line must improve for this offense to return to the upper echelon in the league.
8. Baltimore (4-9)
The Pick: Malcom Jenkins, CB, Ohio State
The Buzz: The Ravens defense needs younger talent on the corner especially with a 21st ranked pass defense, and Jenkins is a top-flight cover man.
9. Cincinnati (5-8)
The Pick: Dan Connor, LB, Penn State
The Buzz: The Bengals need to fix their defense and being 23rd in rush defense and 25th in pass defense Dan Connor would be perfect.
10. Carolina (5-8)
The Pick: Keith Rivers, LB, USC
The Buzz: The Panthers are looking to solidify their struggling defense.
11. Chicago (5-8)
The Pick: Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College
The Buzz: The Bears will jump at a chance for a future leader on offense.
12. Philadelphia (5-8)
The Pick: Limas Sweed, WR, Texas
The Buzz: The Eagles are looking to stretch the field with a blue-chip receiver.
13. Arizona (6-7)
The Pick: Kenny Phillips, S , Miami*
The Buzz: The Cardinals defense does not need too much help stopping the run they are 11th in that but 24th in pass defense and the next best DB is a safety from DB Factory, Miami.
14. Houston (6-7)
The Pick: Steve Slaton, RB, West Virginia*
The Buzz: The Texans need an explosive playmaker to jump start this average offense.
15. Denver (6-7)
The Pick: Early Doucet, WR, LSU
The Buzz: Mike Shanahan wants more playmakers to help Jay Cutler develop.
16. Washington (6-7)
The Pick: Sedric Ellis, DT, USC
The Buzz: Joe Gibbs wants a big-time pass rusher for the Redskins' front four.
17. Detroit (6-7)
The Pick: Aqib Talib, CB, Kansas
The Buzz: The lions are horrible in pass defense.
18. New Orleans (5-7)
The Pick: Derrick Harvey, DE, Florida
The Buzz: The defense continues to be the Achilles' heel for the Saints.
19. Buffalo (7-6)
The Pick: Calais Campbell, DE, Miami
The Buzz: The Bills need help on defense, Aaron Schobel cant do it by hiself.
20. Minnesota (7-6)
The Pick: Reggie Smith, CB, Oklahoma*
The Buzz: The Vikings may not be able to pass on a highly regarded defensive back for this emerging unit.
21. Tennessee (7-6)
The Pick: Vernon Gholston, DE, Ohio State*
The Buzz: Gholston could certainly help the Titans improve their pass rush.
22. Dallas (from Cleveland (8-5))
The Pick: Malcolm Kelly, WR, Oklahoma
The Buzz: The Cowboys are looking to add a young playmaker on the outside.
23. San Diego (8-5)
The Pick: Ray Maualuga, LB, USC
The Buzz: The Chargers' front seven would benefit from another strong defender.
24. Tampa Bay (8-5)
The Pick: Mario Manningham, WR, Michigan*
The Buzz: The Bucs are lacking playmakers in the passing game.
25. Seattle (9-4)
The Pick: Samuel Baker, OT, USC
The Buzz: The Seahawks hope to address their offensive line early in the draft.
26. NY Giants (9-4)
The Pick: Jeffrey Otah, OT, Pittsburgh,
The Buzz: Somebody has to help take the pressure off Eli so he can have the 100 QB rating season I know he can.
27. Jacksonville (9-4)
The Pick: Vince Hall, LB, Virginia Tech
The Buzz: The Jaguars needs a young leader in the middle.
28. Pittsburgh (9-4)
The Pick: Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU*
The Buzz: The Steelers are looking to fortify their front three, and Jackson has the potential fill a role.
29. Green Bay (11-2)
The Pick: Jonathon Stewart, RB, Oregon
The Buzz: The Packers want a well-developed feature back to balance this offense.
30. San Francisco (from Indianapolis (11-2))
The Pick: Michael Oher, OT, Mississippi
The Buzz: The 49ers offense needs a big, strong, and experienced lineman to help Alex Smith develop.
31. Dallas (12-1)
The Pick: Ali Highsmith, LB, LSU
The Buzz: the cowboys would benefit tremendously from a young hard hitter added to this defense.
32. New England (13-0)
The Pick: no pick
The Buzz: Pick forfeited.

* - Underclassman
The best part about this draft this year is the super deep OT class and that there are MORE than 5 first round potential QBís and only 2 were drafted in the first round. So that means teams cant be afraid to pass them up because even if the get took they can get another 1st round potential in the 3rd or 4th round.

DE is a much bigger need for the Redskins. Montgomery and Griffen/Gholston make a fairly young/talented DT rotation. However, Phillip Daniels needs to go on the other side. Andre Carter has a double digit sack season and has been double teamed all year long. Put another threat across from him, and Carter is money.

Calais Campbell please :).

EDIT: And I doubt were picking 16th....

Haha "weak". But your Buccaneer pick isn't too shabby.

Horrible pick for the redskins we wont draft DL on day 1. Malcolm Kelly would be a much better pick or a CB.

I definetly like Matt Ryan more than Felix Jones who most likely wont come out.

We spent $49 million on Schobel, and $25 million on Kelsay. I'm not quite sure why we signed them to those types of contracts, because they are not producing. If we didn't sign Kelsay to that large of a contract, I wouldn't be too opposed to the pick of Campbell.

I'd rather go with Malcolm Kelly there.

6. Oakland (4-9) The Pick: Chris Long, DE, Virginia Why: the raiderís d - line has been real nice over the past years but this year it slipped and a future pro bowler would make it better. Good pick, but...when was Oakland's DL ever "nice"? They've been garbage for years.
