View Full Version : What are you looking forward to in 2008?

I for one am looking forward to seeing what David Cutcliffe can do with Duke University. The guy is a proven winner who is known for developing quarterbacks and he has a decent one at Duke in rising junior Thaddeus Lewis who threw 21 TD passes and only 10 INTs in 2007. Backup QB, Zack Asack, also a rising junior, also has potential as he was the starting QB in 2005 before sitting out a year due to academics.

Whoever plays QB will have a big time reciver in Eron Riley who had 9 TDs in 2007. He has good size at 6'3" 200 lbs.

On defense they have a big time DT in Vince Oghobasse who is 6-6 312 lbs.
Vincent Rey and Mike Taulilli are two solid linebackers.

Overall, I think Duke could begin to turn things around and win 5 games this year.

I'm anxious to see how Kentucky can perform without some of the key guys their losing. Even though Rafael Little is leaving as well, we have a more than capable runningback coming back in Derrick Locke who will be a sophomore next year. Curtis Pulley, who originally beat out Andre Woodson for the starting job a couple years will more than likely get the starting nod next season. he's much more of a dual threat quarterback than Woodson was. He's also seen some time at WR, so perhaps that could also help him out. You can never have too much knowledge about the positions around you. Dicky Lyons Jr. will be coming back, even though our top two recievers, Steve Johnson and Kennan Burton are leaving. A guy who is being expected to step up there is Demoreo Ford. We are hoping to recruit a 4* reciever out of Kentucky in Aaron Boyd. Our defense is returning eight starters next season. We'll be better on that side of the ball next year, despite the loss of Wesley Woodyard. We have some playmakers on defense, starting with Jeremy Jarmon, who not a lot of you know about, he'll be a good NFL prospect at the DE position, he ranked second in the SEC with 9 sacks and earn All-SEC honors. Myron Pryor is a nuisance in the running and the passing game from the DT spot. Braxton Kelly is an incredible tackler, and has some made some huge tackles for us at LB and Micah Johnson played great in the Music City Bowl and has a world of talent. In the secondary, Trevard Lindley is really a top corner to look out for. He's been fantastic all year.

I'm curious to see how fast UCLA will rise with Neuheisel and how many recruits he'll secure in the LA area, he was a GREAT recruiter and we might be seeing USC's match...

and ofc I'm excited to see Rutgers if theres a QB controversty but i doubt that Schanio loves Teel too much but since Ray Rice is gone we need more athleticsm, Kenny Britt emerging as a top reciever in the country... and Kordell Young, Mason Robinson, or whoever steps up their game...

and being optimistic and hoping ND loses ALL of their games next year and weis finally gets the boot... hopefully bellicheck turns him down after he asks him for help cause why would bellicheck care

Things I look forward to in 2k8.

-Daryl Clark running the PSU spread. Sean Lee running the PSU D. Tamba Hali possibly blowing up. A.J. Wallace moving into a starting role.
- The usual big ten suspects. Michigan and OSU. OSU to see how they bounce back from another NC blowout. Michigan to see how Rich Rod plans to run the spread with DAvid Cone, Sam McGuffie and 9 bozos.
- Florida and there continued(?) progression. Tim Tebow had a great season, and should have an even better one as a junior... they are my NC favorites.
- Finally the chance to see the 2 heralded 05 QB's, MArk Sanchez and Ryan Perilloux. PErilloux should have the spot to himself at LSU, but I think Mark Sanchez has a battle on his hands with Mitch Mustain.
- Young QB's. Tyrod Taylor, Terrelle PRyor, possible an EJ MAnuel down in FSU.

I'm also sure that there will be some other true freshmen to break through that no one would ever figure to. We'll just have to wait and see.

The thing that most draws me to college football, regardless of season, is the transition. I want to see who the impact freshmen are, which players build off of last year, and which ones regress. I'm curious to see how Alabama and Notre Dame do in particularly, considering their recent failures and the incoming recruiting classes. Michigan intrigues me for the same reason, although I have a somewhat vested interest in seeing them fail. Texas A&M, Miami, Cal, UCLA, the list of teams with potentially intriguing seasons goes on and on. I guess I'm a sucker for a Cinderella story but I can't help it. America loves the underdog, and I guess I'm no different.

Pysched about the Jack Elway signing?

Such an underrated prospect. The only reason he isn't ranked high is because John didn't want to have his son go to all of the QB camps (Elite 11 and so on). He wanted to do a much more old-style approach with talking to coaches and seeing what they had to offer for Jack.

I'm even more psyched about Gerrell Robinson and stealing him from ND. Honestly, I see a great season for PAC-10 football. Too bad we have such horrible Bowl tie-ins. =(

Looking forward to wat Temple can do in the MAC, with the most freshman starting in the country we went 4-8, could have been better if our starting qb didn't get injured, backup one 1 game for us.

Best D in the MAC, and the best recruiting class second year in a row for the MAC.

So I see us at least getting to the MAC title game, no bowl bids this year.

We go 6-2 in division and 8-4 or 7-5 overall.

Only downside is we lost our Offensive Coordinator to the Dolphins as their Te coach.

Asack is the type of QB that Cutcliffe can really turn into a great player, Cutcliffe loves the big pocket passers. Asack is pretty athletic though, he played against one of our rivals on Thanksgiving his senior year at Xaverian and he can certainly throw the ball. Probably the best QB out of Massachusetts in some time.

Cutcliffe is the only reason Eli came to Ole Miss (wanted to go to Tennessee) and he did great things with Eli. I would like to see Duke do something becuase if they keep struggling then they shouldn't be playing football in the ACC. I think Cutcliffe will help that offense and the whole team out quite a bit.
